Tolly Tots Doll At Thrift Store, Wish Me Luck, I'm Going Back For Her!

Hi Doll Friends!

Yesterday evening I saw this Tolly Tots Doll at the Thrift Store.
I decided to leave her there.
What. Was. I. Thinking.
I am having one of my thrift store regret's moments.
Rats
I do so love Tolly Tot's! My very first 18inch Doll was a Tolly Tot named Rose that my daughter got at a garage sale and then gifted to me when I started upcycle sewing for 18inch dolls.
I do so love Tolly Tot Dolls.
Just a quick post here...
Cos I might go back to the thrift store and get her...
Wish me luck!

PS There are two reasons I'd decided against her... She, sadly, was attacked by a dog at some point...
Aaaand... Someone wrote on the back of her neck...
But...
That's not HER fault! Right?

Tolly Tot Doll Holly Loses A Leg!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

One of my favorite dolls had an accident! I am not really sure even what happened? I was walking by where she was hanging on the Doll Wall and Holly Doll's leg looked like it was 'wonky'? So I look closer and it's because her left leg has broken off! What?! No one ever touches or plays with my dolls except me and so I am perplexed what happened. I'd changed her recently and bent her legs but I didn't notice her leg breaking off...?

See? Totally broken off!

As best as I could tell, she was completely unfixable (is that a word?).

As I undressed her I realized that I'd forgotten or overlooked this little tear in the fabric of her body... Poor dear. I should've given her some stitches...!

She is a doll named after my real sister Holly and so I was really bummed out!
I have to have a Holly in the Doll House!

I guess I could've tried superglueing it but... I don't think I'd have been able to line up the little 'post' that broke correctly in order for it to work the way it should. So she'd have a 'fused' leg in all likelyhood if I went that route. Hmmm...

So as I was bumming out about it, I glanced over at my other Tolly Tot Dolls and saw the beautiful repainted Tolly Tot Doll that my sister friend Frann sent me a while ago... (Which I am aghast to say I couldn't find a post about..?! I hope I made one!? If not, thanks for the beautiful doll Frann!) I hadn't ever settled on a name for her because nothing had ever 'fit'. Suddenly I knew exactly what I'd do! I'd make the Tolly Tot Frann sent into Holly Doll! She has bangs and that is actually more accurate to my real sister, as she's always had bangs.

Here they are side by side with the 'new' Holly dressed in a Nascar jersey and jeans, which real Holly would like I think...

Tolly Tot's are such beautiful dolls. I love them.

I've decided I am going to keep the broken Tolly, at least for now. Svetlana has an artificial leg and I am thinking I might take the leg that broke off and turn it into a 'prosthetic' leg... Hmmm.... I could maybe attach some elastic to it in some way so it can be held on? Any ideas? I'm pondering.. Maybe I could paint it a different color because sometimes I see kids with prosthetics in 'fun' colors? Obviously I couldn't keep her as 'Holly' Doll but I just can't stand the thought of her ending up in a bin somewhere. She's so pretty! So she has a handicap, it sure doesn't stop Stevie or Svetlana from enjoying the Doll Life. Eh?

Better run!

Dolls Attend Fancy Spring Dance!!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

Back in January, when there was still cold and snow and dark days, I looked ahead to how much fun it would be to put on a fancy Spring Dance for the Dolls when it finally warmed up. I thought about calling it a Prom... However, I go back and forth between 'imagining' my dolls are all 'little girls' and much too young for a prom as opposed to an actual 'miniature' of the 'real world' where my dolls go on dates and such...  So I am meeting in the middle and calling it a Spring Dance.

When I imagined it, I kept thinking it would be awesome if all the girls who attended could have dates... However, I had one problem... I only own one doll tuxedo!!! Then I couldn't even locate where I'd put it! Oy! I didn't like the idea of having my dolls dates wearing athletic clothes or jeans either. So... What to do? I decided to just make it a dance for the girls. Maybe they attend an all girls school or something? Maybe they just wanted to dress up and have fun and kept it from being co-ed so they could really enjoy their friends company? Eh?

So I'd been playing with the idea of putting it together but nothing really caught my imagination as to how I'd create a 'venue' for the dance... Then last week I ran across this interesting bamboo piece... I still really have no idea what it is 'meant' to be? Dear reader, if you know, let me know in comments because I am really curious. I knew, however, what it was going to be in my Doll House! I'd purchased a couple of pretty backgrounds like I had in the past from eBay I thought would work for the dance months and months ago but just didn't feel like they 'by themselves' made a proper background/venue. The moment I saw the bamboo item I thought of these two backgrounds and I knew they'd look awesome together!

Don't you just love when you're right? I had the little lanterns from a different purchase at a thrift store once...

I just searched eBay for 20 solid minutes trying to find these exact ones for you in case you want to get same ones but no luck... Sorry about that! Who knew that eBay doesn't keep your purchase history for more than a blink either? You'd think I'd be able to find that information... Oh well. I'll try again to find them later but interest of finishing this post, I better wrap it up. So many things to do, so little time!

Having been a collector of 18inch dolls for a few years now, I've managed to collect quite a few pretty formal dresses for the girls... Don't they all look lovely?

I think I am going to try and find a good source for boy doll tuxedos this year so perhaps I can put together a spring dance next year that includes the guys!

I know all the photos are just in front of two different backgrounds but my 'imagination' was that at the dance venue they'd set up these two places for photos... Haha. I'm such a dork. But details are important! Right?

Outta time! I posted a video of the photos too if you're into that sort of thing but they are all the same photos you see here... It's kind of fun to see them in a video though I think. I can put them on my HUGE TV and see all the fun details in larger than life size! Fun!

Better run!
