Babies Babies Babies!! Baby Siblings For The Dolls Abound!

Doll Friends!

Circo 8inch Baby Dolls are no longer sold at Target. At least the last time I checked... So, every time I see them at Thrift Stores or Garage Sales, I can't help myself but to pick them up. I may or may not have too many...? Teehee... Not if I am going to do another Baby Sitting post (or two) if I am going to create a Daycare Scene someday... Eh? But even then, I may have a few too many baby dolls this size.. Or not. All a matter of perspective, that, I suppose, right?  

These (the ones above and this photo below) are babies I've picked up here there and the other place since the last time I made a post about babies on the blog...

So the other day I pulled them all out and wanted to launder their clothes and maybe try and use some of them to figure out a simple pattern to make clothes for the ones who arrived with no clothes at all. I laughed and noticed how many of the Circo's had accumulated after I put them all in a doll carrying case while I washed all the clothes. 

Here they are... I laughed as I lined them up so TypeA without even thinking about them... Blue eyed baby then brown eyed baby then blue then brown then blue.... Etc. 

I guess having this many is a little excessive so I gandered at them on Ebay to see what they were going for... Just to see if it would be worth selling any of them and...

Holy Inflated Prices Batman!!

I tell you, when dolls are discontinued, no matter their size, they end up being worth more... It's uncanny...

So... I might sell a few on eBay...? I've decided I need to not buy any doll items anymore unless I am going to sell current things in my collection. Because space and also to keep myself honest... So...

Maybe I'll list them on eBay for what I think is a decent starting bid and see what happens? 

Who knows? Lately my 'follow-thru' has been dismal... 

*sigh*

I'm still working on the Etsy Shoppe inventory building... I probably have 30 items or so made but need to take photos of them and then get them listed and...

As I mention in this post, I've been struggling a bit lately...

So... Maybe someday it'll all get done. 

Right?

I better run, time to herd the cats! 

(i.e. Get teens outta bed and out door for school. Hahaha)

Vintage Gi Go Palm Pal Expressions 8 Inch Baby Siblings for American Girl Dolls

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

It's been a really busy week at work this past and it's not left me much time to post blogs or play dolls. HoHum!! Just came here to post this and realized I'd posted it 'in the raw' and with just photos instead of hitting 'save as draft' too. So... If you happened by when this blog post was just photos, I do apologize! 

With all that being said, on to the dolls... As I was writing this recent post about the Baby Sitting Club at the Doll House I searched and searched my old postings in vain to see if I could find a posting about these cute little baby dolls I kind of became obsessed with this past summer but... I guess I must've just become obsessed with them and didn't think to mention it on the blog? Who knows... But as they say, better late than never, right?

I found my first Gi Go Palm Pal Expressions doll sometime last summer at a Garage Sale for like 50cents. I must confess I originally just picked it up because I wanted the outfit they had on for my other baby sibling dolls for the Doll House. My husband saw that doll and said "I think that is the ugliest doll I've ever seen!" Because the thing about these dolls, I think, is that you either love them or you hate them. I have always loved them... I just get a kick out of their quirky little faces and funny little expressions. I also love that some of the babies look sad or upset because, well, that's pretty genuine to the real deal. Babies get upset, a lot.

So here is my current collection. I got like five of them in a lot on eBay at some point for like $10 (plus shipping) and have otherwise picked them up here and there for a $1 or less. I would just sort of pick them up and add them to the little shelf I kept by baby dolls on. 

Here is a photo (above) of what they look like in comparison, size wise, to other 'baby siblings' in the doll house. 

Then I decided to photograph them each one by one so you can see their cute faces. As you can see on the baby (above) this baby had a run in at some point with an accident because her little toes on the right are a bit disfigured. 

Still, she's one of my favotires because she just looks happy. 

I am a bit embarrased to admit this but I guess I never gave these babies a proper cleaning up when they arrived. As I was photographing them and then looking at the photos, I realized they were a bit dirty! So... I have them set aside and plan to give them a proper cleaning with a Norwex Enviro cloth later today. In the meanwhile, I knew if I stopped photographing at that point they'd end up back on the shelf with no blog post about them afterall. So... I photo'd them as is. So, don't judge ok? LOL Real babies get dirty faces too, right?

This poor little girlie isn't too happy at all...

Neither is this little girl... I think they're siblings? I had the one with the tag on and left it on there so you could see it but I've since removed it finally. Poor dear went along with that tag for like two decades. No wonder she's cranky!! I'm not sure if you can tell but some of the babies that are unhappy have permanent 'tears' on their cheeks... Cute touch!

This clown one I wasn't sure if I even wanted to buy... Because clowns give me the creeps in real life. But a baby clown, I decided, is cute. I plan to pull this baby out more at Halloween time because they are already in their costume!

Another unhappy baby... But cute anyway!

This little guy (above) even has a bit of a runny nose... Totally accurate with real babies too! Always needing a tissue, some of them.

This is another of my faorites... Maybe because this one looks the tiniest bit like my husband did as a baby. 

This little darling too is a favorite... She just looks so happy!

It kind of amazes me how many face sculpts they must've created for this doll line... I don't even think I have a very large collection compared to how many were produced.

These little dolls are about 8inches tall, have 'bean bag' bodies with a vinyl face, arms and legs. They sit really well because of the way they are made. As far as I know they were produced in the 1990s. You can find them pretty easily on the second hand market, oftentimes 'brand new' as someone might've just collected them and never played with them might be clearing their collection. Fun!

Babysitting Club at the Doll House!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

One nice thing about inclement weather is it means more time to stay in and play dolls! We didn't even make it out to church today because there was freezing rain and our cars were iced over... So we were home bound all day long! In it's own way, saying you have enough food in the fridge and the power stays on, being iced in is like a vacation from the world. You can't leave the house and so no one can get disappointed with you if you don't. Freedom!! Right?

When I was young, I always loved "The Babysitter Club" books because I loved the idea of having a group of friends doing a project together... 'Girl Groups' are amazing, I've had the good fortune to be a member of a few now and the 'sorority' feeling of it is so wonderful. So, I decided to steal the idea of a babysitting club and create one with a few of the dolls in the Doll House.

I've been collecting baby siblings for the doll house for quite a while now... As has happened with my larger doll collection, I've gone maybe the tiniest bit overboard with them. Teehee... I've also been collecting little accessories for them here and there as I find them. I was surprised upon pulling it all out how much there was. I didn't even put all my small baby dolls in this photo! I have five or six more. 

Sadly I thought I'd uploaded more than one photo with this posting but the Blogger app on my phone has been kaput a lot lately... So I will have to come back and upload them again later. It's Monday morning again as I write this. (I also accidentally posted a 'raw' draft of it before I meant to so if you've visited and seen that raw draft before I got a chance to get to my laptop to write it properly, I do apologize!) So, despite the kids being off school today, I still have to work (from home on computer so it's lovely but it means no blogging or playing dolls until evening again...) so I am out of time here for now. I hope this finds you safe and snug in your house too!

Happy Friday the 13th! Hope that it ends up being the luckiest day of the year so far... Speaking of luck? As luck would have it, as I was leaving town after work yesterday, I stopped in to Goodwill. You know... Just to see what I might find. 

When who do I see on the toy shelf, fully clothed with even her ballet shoes?? This lovely little 14inch doll made by Melissa & Doug! I've admired and had this doll on my wish list at Amazon for over a year now but she never quite made it into my cart due to my putting other dolls ahead of her in queue. On my wish list I had the brunette Victoria and I guess I didn't realize that she was also manufactured as a blonde and as a ginger as well. They all are named Victoria as best as I can tell... Although you likely know that the one that I brought home wasn't going to keep that name. What can I say? I like to re-name my dolls for the most part. Only one or two who've arrived with a name have kept it out of the, well, large amount of dolls I have living in the Doll House. Teehee. Do you like to re-name your dolls?

Here is the most amazing part of my find... She was marked only 99cents! Awesomeness!! The second most amazing part? It's like someone took her out of the box and put her directly into their Goodwill donation and drove her to the store. Why do I say that?

Well as I took her hair out of the scrunchie she was wearing (That is part of the 'meet outfit') I saw that her original hair bands hadn't ever been removed! What?! Who can even do that?! To get a brand new doll and not even brush her hair once before you give her away? Can't even imagine it, eh?

As you saw if you clicked on the linky, she is price pointed at about $30.00. So I got a really amazing deal on her. I literally paid less for her than the sales tax would've cost to purchase her on Amazon. (Because after the first of the year, they started applying sales tax to Amazon purchases. Boohoo! I digress.....)

I don't know what you know about Melissa and Doug toys but they are generally top notch stuff. This doll is no different. I can tell just by holding her and picking her up that she's made to withstand real play from a child. She reminds me a lot of the American Girl Wellie Wishers. I didn't have much time to look her over last night but I'll hope today presents me with some time to do a comparison. Obviously even the full price of this doll is half of that of a Wellie Wisher. So this could be a good option for someone who's looking for a doll of comperable size and quality but at a more affordable price. Or it would make a good 'sister' or 'friend' doll to a Wellie Wisher if you're looking for one. 

They also have a Celeste doll that comes in a different outfit but as best as I can tell has the same face sculpt. So another option to think of if you're looking at them and the girl you're buying one for would like a princess gown over a ballet ensemble. 

So I am super stoked to have found her and to find her brand new with her entire meet outfit, what a score! I'll try and get back here soon to give you a better look at her.

Walmart In Store Doll Reporting!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

Wow, how can it be December 22nd already?! Three days from Jesus' Birthday!!! Time flies! I hope this finds you peacefully tying off the loose ends of your Christmas plans and/or letting go of the expectations so you can enjoy yourself too. When it all boils down to it, it's really about the people you're with and celebrating Jesus, not the gifts or the decorations or the food or the plans or the venue or any of that. Right? So remember to be kind and gentle with yourself and your own inner task-master for the next few days, ok? (I am giving myself this little pep talk too folks, so please ignore if it's too touchy feely or mushy for you.Teeheehee.)

Speaking of last minute details, I went on an errand to Walmart the other morning to see to some last minute Christmas details for my office. Since I was there and walking right by them anyway, I thought I'd take a photo of Walmart's 'My Life As Doll' Doll of the Year. I've looked at them several times since I first saw them. I don't think they'd been released yet when I did my last Walmart In Store Report although it looks like I mentioned them when I found my first A Day In The Life Doll Clothes Set on sale way back in November. They were on sale, at the time, for $35.00 but I only took a bit of a far away photo. 

This time, for some reason, they caught my eye a little more... Maybe because they had a ton of them left and I imagine they'll clearance them out after the New Year as they do with most sets like this. Obviously I wasn't tempted way back in November to shell out $35 but depending on how low they go in price, I may look to buy one. I wasn't too impressed with the set because I have enough 'pets' in the Doll House (well, I haven't really written about them yet but I do have quite a few... Yet another 'To-Do' post!). I also already have the Walmart My Life As Doll Vet Set and so this set would mean I'd have two of nearly all of the accessories... So, not too tempting at full price but if they put them on clearance, who knows?

I do love the 'scrubs' shirt that is included... I'd totally use it for my Kristi doll because she is a nurse and wears scrubs all the time. So... Maybe maybe maybe... I'll keep watching the price. I love after Christmas clearance sales! 

As I mentioned in this post (also linked above) some Walmarts have these adorable little baby dolls perfectly sized to be baby siblings for the Doll House. I didn't buy any at the time I saw them in that last store and have been kicking myself since. As I've discovered since paying more attention, all Walmarts are not the same with regards to their selections! It seems downright unfair honestly! So often I've seen people post about items they find at their own Walmarts and so I run off excitedly to Walmart to find the same thing and.... Nada. So disappointing! Ah well.... I digress. My point is I've been kicking myself since because not one Walmart I'd visited since that one has carried the little babies!! That particular store is waaaaaaay out of my way and so going back just for them wasn't really appealing either. However, seeing them that first time compelled me to begin to look in the baby doll section for them at every Walmart I visit and........

I found them again! Sorry for the blurry photo (above)... As I said, I was on a work errand and so just sort of passing through the toy section for a glance and didn't have much time. So I snapped a photo of each of the adorable expressions! They are so cute!!

One of the reasons I wanted to get a set was to pick up a 'car seat' for the baby siblings in the Doll House... I thought it would make a perfect accessory. Here is the little baby girl in a car seat...

However... I was kind of low on funds the day I went in and could only choose one of the babies to take home. I totally fell in love with this happy giggling little girl on a bike though... I couldn't help it. Everytime I look at her cute smiling little face, I smile. So... She was the one I chose. I haven't taken her out of the box yet becasue I've been too busy and also the little boxes they come in are pretty neat and great for a display box until I get a chance to unbox her and show her to you. 

The baby in the bathtub was pretty cute too but I didn't want a small bath tub at all since I already have a doll bathtub in the Doll House and should I ever want any of the baby sibs to take a bath, they an take one in the large tub. Heeheehee. 

Then as I was walking by the sporting good section I noticed these coolers. I didn't have time at all to look them over but I wished I could remove one from the box and see if it would work as a retro doll fridge?? It seemed to be the right size...? Then again, at $25 it probably makes more sense to buy an actual doll kitchen that includes a fridge. However, as you know, I am always finding things second hand and so I took a mental note to start looking at Garage Sales and Thrift stores for one. One thing you can always count on with novelty items like this? That people clear them out when they need space or are moving. So, maybe someday I'll find one just like it? Who knows.
