New Our Generation Doll Julieta Arrived In The Doll House!!

Hi Doll Friends!!

She arrived so quickly! I just ordered her a few days ago... What did we ever do before the internet? I'd probably be totally unaware she was even produced much less be able to find her in a brick and mortar store. I digress... Here she is!!

In her box...

I was alarmed & annoyed when I saw she had a line of dirt on her nose... It seemed to wipe off but I still want to take a closer look at it in sunlight later today. I got her last night before church as a ship to store at Target... I'd actually thought I'd chosen 'free' shipping but apparently not. That's fine because the shipping time estimate had me getting her next Monday and sooner is always more fun!

I just can't get over how pretty she is. Well done Our Generation. She looks like a really high end doll, I think.

Such striking blue eyes!

Her hair strait out of the box...

After she changed clothes.

Pamela and Frann welcoming her....

I named her Juliet Olivia... Because she was named Julieta by OG and when I got her in person she reminded me so much of my favorite screen Juliet, Olivia Hussey from the 1968 version of Romeo and Juliet. What do you think? I think she looks like a doll version of her. So, I am naming her after both the character and the actress.

Better run and get the kids started... Time flies!
Have a great day!

Pamela Doll Gets New Hairstyle AKA American Girl Doll Stylin' Bangs Review

Hi Doll Friends!!

One of my doppelganger dolls is named after my dear kindred spirit friend and reader Pamela... Her doll was perfect in every way except that real Pamela had bangs in her hair when she was a girl. I thought about re-wigging but was reticent because real Pamela has the same doll in her Doll House and I wanted them to look the same. So... What to do? Then I recalled seeing a neat hair piece at American Girl Doll's website called Stylin' Bangs. I wondered if they'd work to make Pamela Doll's hairstyle perfect but was kind of reticent to order them because what if the color was all wrong or they just looked silly or something? However, I mentioned the idea to real Pamlea and wouldn't you know it, she had the actual bangs on hand that she'd purchased on sale. She tried them on her Pamela doll and they looked perfect!! Fun!! So, I went and ordered some Stylin' Bangs for my Pamela Doll and set out watching the mail for them...
I meant to make a cute post about her going to the salon and Susannah Doll cutting her hair in the salon chair and the whole works... However, when I got the bangs, I was puzzling how to get them to stay in properly because I couldn't really get the clip to snap in securely at all. I even considered glueing them in because I think Pamela Doll will always wear bangs... But that also felt a bit extreme because what if I messed up?! So... I sort of just let the bangs 'sit' on Pamela dolls hair for a few days while I thought about it. Then, it came to me... Pamela doll had been wearing side braids in her hair for a while before I decided she'd get bangs. So, when I took them out the hair was all 'crimped' ala 1980's in just that spot of her hair (the sides). I thought I'd likely need to hot dip her hair even, to get it strait again... While I was puzzling out the bangs it occured to me:
Why not braid the side pieces of the Styling Bangs into Pamela Dolls rooted hair?

I couldn't delay long enough to do the whole 'scene' with Susannah cutting her bangs etc. because I just had to see if it would work and... It totally did.

She looks adorable!! I think so anyway and real Pamela agrees!

I think I might've centered them a tiny bit crookedly? I didn't notice it until I looked at her photo and saw that the left hand side of her bangs was a bit 'higher' than the right side... I'll likely fix it at some point but it honestly made me smile as I remembered my own somewhat 'crooked' bangs in the 1980s because I was always much much too cheap to pay anyone to do them for me. Haha. Also, it's probably just my TypeA personality that thinks they are a tiny big crooked. My husband says he doesn't think they look so... But it won't take much to 'fix' them, just unbraiding them and moving them a smidge. If I'd have glued them in, I'd  have been stuck wouldn't I have? So, this is much better option.

I don't really think you can see a difference at all between the bangs and her rooted hair... Other than the Stylin' Bangs hair is a bit nicer quality I think... I think she looks fantastic!

In fact, if I place another order from AG anytime soon I might just buy another color or two for other dolls. Frann Doll would look totally adorbs with bangs too I think. So maybe...?

Here is her hair from the back. I don't really think you can tell it 's a hair piece at all unless you really look hard.

Here is what they look like in the box.

With them on sale for $6 I was able to get them to the house for only about $12ish and given the original price was $20 even that isn't too bad.

I just love how she looks. So cute!

New Our Generation Doll Face Sculpt and Ice Cream Cart!!

Doll Friends!!

Look what I found quite delightedly day before last on Target.com. I sometimes like to toy around with the search engines and I just, on a whim, put in 'newest items' and low and behold what came up but some beautiful dolls with brand new face sculpts!!

Then they have this new fella... Or at least I haven't seen him before...

They also have some new accessories!! My favorite is likely this one.

It's an ice cream cart! There have been ice cream bikes in the past but that never appealed to me because massive space issues... But this is pretty adorable!!

It could have so many fun applications... Carnivals, beach scenes... Just fun! It's priced $49.99.

They also have a 'pet store' set! I think it will be a huge hit! It's $29.99 I think.

This smaller set was really cute... I think it might just have to come home to the Doll House at some point... Although if it makes me inclined to try and make a bowling alley I might better not! LOL How much space would that take up?

So... When I saw the new dolls sculpts before I could even think I had two in my cart and on the way to the Doll House... I couldn't help it. Happened to have some Doll Mad Money to spend and couldn't help myself... So, the tool girl and the ballerina are on their way! They actually didn't even have the Bee Keeper one when I ordered or I might would've been tempted to order her instead. They are all so cute!! Have any of you seen them in stores?

Better run!

Goodwill Store Scores For The Doll House!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

I ran by Goodwill after church yesterday and found an amazing bag of 18inch doll clothes...!! The entire bag was only $7.99!! Such a steal!! I wish I would've taken 'before' photos of the bag itself because you'd never have dreamed there'd be so much great stuff in the mishmash bag that they came in... I found the bag in the 'carts' they bring out merchandise in or I am sure I'd never have gotten it. That's the trick, going often and always checking the 'new cart' stuff. Most of the really great stuff that gets sold at Goodwill gets sold right out of those carts!! I digress.... So here is what I got:

Four really cute dresses!! The pink and orange one is Madame Alexander, the green stripes is OG, the polka dot is Kingstate and the blue and white is unlabled.

Two AG shirts, lots of OG shirts and lots of unbranded.... So many cute ones! I love the white eyelet one in front!! Naturally I need to run them all through the washing machine because a few of them were very well loved and who really ever thinks to launder doll clothes really...? Not like dolls get sweaty or anything. Haha. But I think a few of them will look much nicer after a good wash.

So. Many. Cute. Skirts!! I have four of them already but... Twinsy clothes!!

Long sleeved tops.. I have three of them already... Twinsy clothes!!

PJ's and other misc. stuff... The panties are AG.

Awesome accessories!!

And more awesome accessories... Even a pony 'coat'!

Sadly these shoes were all singletons... I'd never seen the purple clear OG shoe before!? Cute!!

Then I found this table and chair set... I couldn't help it. I bought them... I am going to need a bigger house... LOL I didn't buy the doll...

I'm trying not to regret not buying her because she was in nearly new condition... But... I have so so many dolls already and a few blond haired blue eyed My Life As dolls even... So... I left her there for someone else to find as their 'find of the day'! Still.... So cute!!

Saw this doll and found him interesting and so thought you might too... Cute face on this little fella...!

As is a common sight at thrift stores nowadays... Someones meticulously cared for porcelain doll collection. They just don't seem to appeal to many people now days and often get broken while living in big bins like this. I used to buy them sometimes to steal their clothes but I've gotten pickier about doll clothes in recent years. They generally make the dresses to never be removed and so they are usually pretty for play dolls but not really all that practical. Still, sad to see poor neglected dollies!

The one with the flowers on her front (upside down in this photo) is really pretty...

I better run!
Happy Monday Doll Friends!

Our Generation Doll Collection Post In Progress...!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

I've been working on getting my Our Generation Doll collection photographed but lets just say I have more than a few Our Generation Dolls. They really are one of my favorite doll lines (I know, I say that about all the dolls don't I...? But I mean it every time! Hahaha) and they are really readily available on the second hand market for next to nothing. Honestly, they are really quite reasonable brand new from Target especially when they have a good sale. I have gotten regular (non-poseable) Our Gen dolls for like $20 in the past so, like I say, I have a few! I still have like seven or eight more to photograph (I haven't counted, I just keep plugging away). It takes a bit of time because naturally while I don't necessarily change them all as I go unless they've been wearing whatever it is they have on for a long time... But I do try to give them a good hair combing/styling and you wouldn't think that would take that long unless you mulitply it over all the OG dolls I have in the Doll House. Teehee. So I decided to come give you a preview of the dolls I have photographed so far.

See what I mean? I haven't even gotten the boys started yet...! So... Yeah.... I love OG dolls. Apparently. Aren't they all beautiful though? Many of them are named after people I know and love so they are doubly precious to me because they make me think of that person when I see the doll. Almost like 3D portraits sitting around. Right?

Another post I am planning is one where I show you all my body transplant 'hybrid' dolls. Nearly all of the bodies for the hybrids came from OG thrifted dolls too... So, I must really like them. Haha. I think they are the most similar doll body to American Girl dolls though but much much cheaper.

So... That's all in the works... I am hoping for some solid blogging time after church later today so maybe I'll get the last of the OG's photographed today!

Have a fantastic Sunday!
