Photo Review Of My Salon Doll Malaree Moser

Hi Doll Friends!

As I mentioned in my last post, I went to a hotel recently... Knowing I was going, I brought along several dolls that I'd wanted to get photos of. Hotels usually have ok lighting and oftentimes suitable backgrouds for doll photos.

I knew I wanted to bring along my 'My Salon Doll' Malaree Moser... I got her for Christmas and hadn't really had a chance to look her over myself because I was so busy with Christmas and then planning my daugters party. Knowing I was going to review her, I thought it'd be cute to bring her a robe... I'd been needing to show you this Our Generation 'Good Night Sleep Tight" set and what better time than now?

Side note: I am shaky on that name. I liked Moser because it as a family name and I thought it might be fun as an unusual first name. But it just doesn't 'fit' the doll when I think of her and the name together... Does that happen to you? A few of my dolls have been re-named for that reason.

Kind of an interesting set in that it's just a robe, socks and accessories. I love that it has an extra tissues box... I only have one in the doll house and I like this blue one better.

So here is little Miss Malaree-for-now in the set. Isn't she adorable in it?

*Nude Doll Warning!*
Since she's such a rare doll I am showing you her body type... She reminds me a lot of Just Pretend or Carpatina dolls if not a bit heavier.

Here she is

Oh, Doll Friends... I never like to say anything negative about dolls, especially dolls that are beautifully sculpted as this beauty is! The way they rooted her hair is utterly unique, it's supposed to be heat stylable. However it looks so thin and fragile to me I am almost afraid to even brush it much less heat style it! I'm just not sure what I think of it. I will have to see how it brushes out when I finally get brave enough to take it out of the ponytails.

Even her flat little rearend reminded me of the Just Pretend or Carpatina dolls.

Back in the robe! So... I think that the sculpt and body of this doll are likely at 9-10 out of 10. The hair... I am not sure about. Do any of you have this doll? What has been your experience with the hair? I'd love to hear any feedback about it.

She really is stunning, thin hair or not.

Happy Friday!

My Salon Doll Malaree Moser Visits the Fairfield! Doll Photography!

Greetings And Salutations Doll Friends!

The last week of December is a frenzy of activity in our house... Not because of taking down Christmas decorations or what-have-you but because my sweet daughter's birthday is just a couple of days after Christmas. This year we were brainstorming what to do for her party this year... We decided a fun idea would be to get a couple of rooms at a hotel so she and her three closest friends could swim in the pool, stay up late chatting the night away and still be comfortable. (We have a bit of a small house with only one and a (very rough basement) half bath...) I am so glad we did because ti really was a lot of fun. I got a room next door to theirs so I could supervise but also stay out of their space. So... Mostly I had the night in a hotel to myself which was actually kind of nice. I brought along dollies to photograph and planned to bring my Bible and study study study and my laptop and blog blog blog... And I left my laptop bag, with my Bible, at home. Hahaha! No matter, I had a Gideon Bible in the drawer at the hotel and I brought along plenty of dollies to photograph.

One of the dollies was this beauty right here... She's a My Salon Doll I got for Christmas and I think she's so lovely! It was so nice to get her out of the box and give her a proper look. (I opened her when she arrived to give you and myself a peek so maybe ya'll could order for Christmas if you were so inclined... And no, I don't work for them. Hahaha)

I had a lot of fun taking photos of her at the hotel in the wee hours of the morning... (I wake up at about 4am everyday because that's how my brain is programmed for some reason...) I am trying to get better at 'perspective' and making the doll look like she's actually in the space and it's at the correct scale. I think I am getting better at this as I go along...

I took these photos (the ones above in the mirror and this one with her standing on a table in the hallway... It gave her more 'height' and makes her look more correct in perpsective.

Same table, other end... :)

My 'pretend' was that it was late at night when she arrived at the hotel and she was too wired from travel to sleep immediately so took a look around first. Teehee...

I actually made a YouTube movie of it if you're interested. It has more photos than I even posted here... Which is saying something. My phone is almost always close to running out of 'space' for all my thousands of doll photos. And I have a lot of space on my phone! Hahaha.

I am noticing these are out of the order I wanted to post them in but if I go back and change them around now, I'll likely not get this posted until next New Year so... If you want the order I really intended them to be in, take a gander at the YouTube. I am such a perfectionist but the older I get the more I understand the meaning of the quote: "The smallest actual good is more worthy than the grandest of intentions." Eh? So, better good enough than not at all, eh? I can't even go back and read my old blogs because I'll invariably find a misspelled word or typo and cringe and go and fix it and three hours later I am still editing. So if you notice typo's it's because I literally sort of just write this on the fly as a stream of thought. Yes, my brain can be exhausting! Hahahaha.

Aaaaand I am running out of time... Why do the early morning hours fly by when the hours from 3pm till 5pm drag by like molasses in December? Oy! So the rest of this will likely be all photos...

One reason I took her to the hotel with me was so I could give you a proper look at her... So, stay tuned to the next post to see her little 'review'...
Better run!

Blaire Wilson! American Girl Doll Of The Year 2019!

Doll Friends!

I am sure if you read this blog, you're probably 'in' to dolls enough to know that American Girl Doll released their 2019 Doll of the Year today. Her name, in case you haven't heard, is Blaire Wilson. I had decided, really, with Z Yang, that I would not likely be buying any more American Girl Dolls because I just can't see the quality being so much better than, for instance, Our Generation Dolls, that are much much cheaper.

American Girl Doll must have my number... Or something. Because I really like Blaire's little story! She's a farm girl who likes to plan parties and cook healthy food. What's not to love about that? Not to mention she's really pretty. Someone on one of my Doll Groups on Facebook mentioned that she reminds them of the The Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond and I agree. Although Ree grew up in the city and married the country life (she wrote a whole book about it, I even read it!). I used to read Pioneer Woman clear back in the days when she was 'only' a blogger and I remember her first cookbook being this huge deal to all of us fans and.... She's just grown into the fabulous brand that she is by being her lovely self. Oh... Wait... What was I talking about again? Hahaha.

Blaire! What do you think of her? Do you think you'll get her? I know I want her little shorts overall set at the very least.

Better run. Time to make lunch! Wasn't it just 6am?
