Anniversary Dinner At The Doll House!! YouTube Video Too!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

Recently, when I was 'researching' on eBay about dolly 'food', I ran across something that surprised me. I have always admired the American Girl Doll Lasagna Dinner Set but never enough to spend $24.00 on it (plus shipping). So I was very excited when I happened across an actual AG Lasagna set for $6.00 with free shipping! What?!

Well, I should say 'a lasagna set' because the items included were not exactly the same as the ones in the AG set. The lasagna and olive oil were included but also a salt shaker and no plates, forks or spatula. I didn't care though because it was the actual lasagna I wanted anyway. So I was totally stoked. I would link to the sellers information but it appears that it might've been a one-off  because the cheapest 'set' I found when I just looked was much more money...? I tell you eBay is a strange place sometimes. The same seller, at the time, also had other adorable sets that, had I known it would be a one-off, I likely would've bought. Oh well.. Such as the nature of eBay. I'll just be glad I got this set. Right?

I decided the moment I got it that I was going to feature the set into a scene of Heather Doll making dinner for Josh Doll. In real life, my husband and I celebrate 26th Wedding Anniversary in early July. So I found the lasagna set just in time!

Isn't it adorable and real looking! So fun!

I had recently gotten the pasta plates as a thrifty find as well as the cute candle holder so it all felt like it was 'meant to be' for my dollies special dinner.

The candles being lit make it look so warm and sweet, right? Those are birthday candles and so I had to take the photos as quickly as possible before they burned out or dripped!

For desert Heather decided to serve banana splits since it's summertime and hot outside. She served coffee on the side out of the cute mugs I got the other day at a garage sale. It's so much fun putting it all together to make scenes!

After dinner Heather and Josh decided to play Monopoly because it's one of their favorite games!!

When the game was over, Heather served some scrumptious peach tart! Sadly they were both still much too full to eat any so they decided they'd have to cut it later.

What a great evening!

Happy Anniversary Heather and Josh Doll!! If you're interested, I also made a little YouTube Video of Josh and Heather's dinner date. Go check it out if you have time!

Better run!
Have a great day!

Thanksgiving At The Doll House!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

Happy Black Friday!! I hope this finds you having a lovely day... If shopping today is your thing, I hope you found all the deals you were looking for! If staying away from stores and relaxing is your thing, I hope you have had a great day doing that! I have to work today and so I am rushing here to show you the photos of the Doll House on Thanksgiving yesterday!

Here are Josh and Heather posing by the beautiful Thanksgiving Dinner they had prepared... Yes, Josh likes to cook! Thank goodness because Heather cooks more because she has to than because she likes to. (She likes to play with dolls and write blogs too! She's a mini-me afterall! Right?) Heather always cleans up the kitchen when Josh cooks though so it's great team-work.

The candles make it look so festive!!

We didn't have a huge guest list this year... We wanted Frann and Saila to enjoy their first Thanksgiving as a small, relaxed family affair. Frann is from Korea and Saila is from Canada and so they were both excited to try out all the yummy food.

Josh gave a toast "To Thanksgiving and having lovely friends at our table to share it with!". Then he said a prayer and thanked God for the meal, our family and friends, our wonderful country and all the many blessings we have been given. I obviously didn't photograph the prayer as I was bowing my head as he said it...

The meal was wonderful! I only got shots of just it was getting started before Josh carved the turkey because I had to tuck in and enjoy a little plate myself! (Kidding!)

Here are Lilly and Saila during the toast.

"Cheers!"

Josh and Heather were so happy that the Thanksgiving dinner seemed to be a success!

You may notice that there is not a pumpkin pie on the table... Per the kids' request, we had alternate desserts this year because Vito really doesn't like Pumpkin pie so we made a pretty chocolate cake for him to be happy and since we were going a bit different, Lilly decided a Cherry Tart was what she'd like... I think next year we'll get some pumpkin pie as well even if we do go with alternates because Josh and Heather missed it. Not to mention they were so embarrased not to have any for Frann and Saila to try! They promised to have some at Christmas and to have them try it then!

Lilly was very proud of the asparagus bundles... She'd done them herself. They were delicious!

Here are Saila, Heather and Frann in their pretty Thanksgiving outfits before everyone sat down to dinner...

Notice the kids while they were posing for the photo... This is how they looked much of the day... Teenagers! (Haha! Kidding... I know all the dolls are supposed to be 'child aged' but these two dolls are doppleganger dolls for my own two kids who are teens...LOL)

But this is how my real kids looked most of the day when we weren't eating... Can't really complain too much I suppose as I sit on a laptop typing this blog. I suppose it's just the world we live in. Right? I digress....

I really hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are looking forward to a relaxing 'first weekend of the Christmas season'!! I am so thankful to have you as readers and to have the fun and exciting blessing of being able to write this blog. So... Thank you, dear doll friend reader, for you! May God Bless you richly all the coming year!!

Much Love!

More Thrifted Finds for the Doll House! Vintage Play Food and a Kitchen Sink!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

As you may have figured out by now, I am a bit of a Thrift Store and Garage Sale enthusiast! I have regular errands that take me by my favorite thrift stores every week and I make it a point to stop in and check for treasures while I am in the area. That is the trick to finding gems at Thrift Stores is to go often! Oftentimes you will only find one or two little things but then there are days like mine recently.

Here is J.J. modeling for scale the items I got thrifting! The little play food is absolutely perfect! I love love love it!! It's scaled perfectly and there are six of all the 'servings' of everything!

I'd never seen any play food like it before! So cute and perfect for the doll house!

Then, I also got this wood shelf for a couple dollars. I am so glad little wood shelves like this were popular about a decade ago because they are making some mighty fine doll furniture for doll enthusiasts now!

I've mentioned I stop into specific Thrift Stores every week. Well, on Thursdays, I get to go by one of my all time favorites! They have a great selection and their prices are always pretty great too. I've made friends with a fabulous clerk there, her name is Jenny. She and I chat up when I go in and she knows I love dolls and all things doll related and that I write a doll blog. So... She keeps her eyes open for me for doll sized items. She isn't allowed to hold anything but she always points out things that she's seen if she happens to know they are still there. She is the one who pointed out the play food! I would've missed it completely if she hadn't known about it and pointed it out because it was in the display case and I didn't think to look there this day! I was so stoked, I asked if she'd take a photo with me! Here we are:

So, being intrigued about the play food, I decided to research it. On eBay! I am telling you, you can find anything in the universe on eBay if you only know what you're looking for. I put 'Vintage Play Food' into the search engine and up popped this and several others. I stole the photo below to show you what the food looked like originally, at least some of it. It looks like it came in the plastic as a big 'sheet' and you popped the little food items out of the sheet. It's highway robbery what they are asking for them on eBay but that's the nature of vintage and rare items on there I guess.

So, naturally, I brought the food home and had to throw a dinner party!

Steak, green peas, corn on the cob and a dinner roll! What a feast!

Rose, being the oldest doll in the Doll House, supervised the preparations!

So what did I do with the little wooden shelf, you ask? I made it into a kitchen sink! I think it's perfect with it's little hooks to hold pans and shelves to hold kitchen and pantry items.

I had the little galvanized box that I'd gleaned from a thrift store a while ago and was saving to find a good 'counter' for. I got the idea to make a 'drain' with a silver button from 'My Froggy Stuff' on YouTube. She is pure genius!

The dolls all agreed the food tasted as good as it looked!

Here is a group photo of the dolls who were able to make it to the dinner party!

They thought the meal was so fancy, they ought to pull out the stemware even!

That's it for now Doll Friends! Thanks for stopping by! See you next time!

Thanksgiving 2018 Photos From The Doll House! Part Two

Hi Doll Friends!

I hope ya'll had a great Thanksgiving weekend! I sure did! It was lowkey and relaxed, just like I prefer! As you may recall, Heather Doll gets a bit more elaborate with her Thanksgiving plans.

She put on Thanksgiving dinner for twelve of the dolls in the Doll House (the rest of the Dolls in the Doll House had other plans. Heeheehee... Just kidding... I just only have so many chairs and tables though!

So here is Heather Doll welcoming Josh and Asbee as they arrive...

Then came Frann and her two friends (my adorable new Paola Reina's from my real friend Frann and they haven't actually been named yet... I alarmedly just realized I never finished a blog post about!??! Oy vey! I am dropping ever so many balls lately?!) So I'll have to get that post finished up... I posted photos of them to the Facebook page but apparently totally neglected to make a post about them. *face palm*

Aren't they adorable! They are wearing sweaters that real Frann made! She does such an amazing job with them! Their cute dresses were made by Goofy! The brown haired doll is even customized with a makeover to her face-paint. So gorgeous! So they are super special to me!!

Josh and Ashbee checking out the food...

Such a pretty table!

Of course Vito & Lilly had to come. Lilly thought it would be cute to wear her Hogwarts uniform since she missed the Halloween Party this year as she had other plans.

The next to arrive was Harper and another doll who hasn't told me her name yet... LOL I can't seem to name them until one just 'fits'. She's so gorgeous!

Last to arrive were Pamela and Layla arrived. They brought the ham and a few side dishes...

By the way this is the Crockpot set from My Life As Doll and I never really reviewed it because, well, I apparently am slipping on dotting all my i's and crossing all my t's lately. But it's SUPER cute and I am so glad I got it. Every 'pot luck' dinner I went to as a kid had several crock pots. They are a necessity. Hahaha.

They waited to say grace before they all went to get their food. I didn't manage to get any photos of them actually eating. Teehee... They just gobbled it all down too quickly. *giggles*

So it was a nice Thanksgiving! I made a couple of YouTube videos of the day if you'd like to check them out... They have many more photos than I put here because it's a bit of a sequenced story video... You can find them here and here.

I also thought I'd mention that I recently bought a photography light for my indoor photos and it makes such a huge difference in the light quality. I love it! It breaks down to store and is easy to set up. My only regret is I didn't buy one two years ago. Haha. It was about $40 on eBay!

Gotta run! Where does the time go?
