Crazy Month For Health In The Doll House!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

Happy May first!! I am so glad it's a new month... April first this year brought with it both Easter and a continuation of a long whirlwind of ailments and illnessess in the Doll House! I am a bit reticent to say we are out of the woods finally because it seemed like every time I said it in the month of April I'd jinx myself and we'd end up with some new manner of health issue. So... I'll pray it's over and we can finally enjoy Spring now that it's finally decided to arrive in the midwest.

Given all the illnesses and ailments we've had, I decided to do round two of Under The Weather At The Doll House and was shocked to realize that I'd posted the first one in late March... I had been thinking that pestilence and plague illness had struck in early April but now I realize it's been more like a month and a half. No wonder I am worn out! I have joked with my church family that the reason is because I had a really profound Word from God at the Women's Retreat this year. So the devil is working overtime to snatch it away from me. He can't have it though! Afterall:

"But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."
2nd Corinthians 12:9

I decided to mark the time period with some more 'dolly sick in bed' photos though since it has been my life for a month and a half nearly... This time with actual Heather Doll even so it'd be more authentic. LOL

Heather is reading "A Purpose Driven Life" since it was part of the the revelation of the word I got at the Retreat. It really is a great book. Naturally Heather Doll has her laptop and a Doll Magazine as well... Can't convalesce without the essentials afterall. Haha.

This is Heather's room that I recently reconfigured into a different space in the Doll Room. Speaking of which, I need to do an updated 'tour'. I've even considered doing a video tour for my YouTube channel... So many projects, so little time! I'll get it done some time or another. One reason I haven't done it yet is that I am not a fan of my voice when I hear it on video or audio! Hahaha. Every time I hear it I want to apologize to the human race for having subjected them to it all my life or something. Kidding! It does sound weird to me though and so I haven't ever 'said' anything in my videos. Maybe someday...

Better run... Hope this finds you enjoying health and nice weather yourself!
Till next time!

Fall Slumber Party At The Doll House!

Hi Doll Friends!

After their class with Frann, some of the dolls decided to have a slumber party in the Doll House! They figured they could do some studying together and then tell fun stories before they fell asleep! If you'd like to see the fun in video form, check out the YouTube video here.

Heather Doll ran to her room to grab a few things for overnight.

One of Heather Doll's favorite things are funky patterened socks... She has two drawers full of them! She decided to bring two pairs, just in case. Maybe someone else would forget theirs?

All set! Even has her Julie Doll to bring with her!

They decided they'd all sleep in the Doll House Dorm Room so they could chat all night...

Handra didn't plan to spend the night and so didn't have any PJs. No problem.

Heather Doll knew there was a brand new set in the locker just waiting to be worn.

"Thanks!"

Tam wanted to spend the night but didn't have a way to get word to Patricia, her friend who was picking her up from class. So when Patricia arrived they came up with great idea that she should just stay and spend the night as well! Two more sets of PJs coming up!

"You're so sweet to lend us PJs!"

"My pleasure!! I am just glad you can stay for the party!"

Angela Doll finally arrived!!

She was a bit late because she had to stop for the snacks!!

Frann Doll read a book to everyone... She translated it all in Korean so they could hear how it would sound that way. She chose a book that she knew they'd know the story of "Oh The Places You'll Go" by Dr Suess.

The girls were amazed at her ability to be able to read one language and speak another.... It inspired them to study their Korean Language even harder so they could maybe be fluent like Frann Doll in two languages too!

Soon enough everyone was tired and it was time to go to sleep! Aren't slumber parties the best!?

Better run!

Thrift Shop 18 inch Doll Quilt Find!

Hi Doll Friends!!

I've been wanting to make or find some bedding for the beautiful doll bed I got from Frann!

I love quilts because my Grandmother made them her whole life... So when I saw this 'wall hanging' quilt at the thrift shop for only 50cents, I knew it would make a perfect quilt for the doll bed! Isn't it lovely!??

Now I have to find some vintage pillow cases to make some sheets to match!

I think it looks perfect!!

Better run!
Till next time!

What Happens When I Discover Panorama Button On My Iphone

Greetings Doll Friends!

So, a lot of ya'll are probably going to laugh at me for having just 'discovered' the panoramic button on my iPhone. I guess I've noticed it before but, being as I wasn't in market to sell my home, I couldn't see any real or practical application for it, I never used it at all.

Until the other day when I was taking photos and accidentally set it to that setting and took a very strange photo. However, it made me see the panorama button in a whole new light!

With panorama setting, I can take a really neat photo of the doll room and get a lot of the little details of the room that you'd miss in a standard photo! Awesomeness!

This was my very first attempt to do one and it looked kind of 'Twilight Zone' so I decided to keep it.

On this one, I even left it where you can see 'outside of the Doll House' into the 'real world. Just thought the perspective was fun.

I love how it get's every single detail into the photo!

I had to try a few group photos! It's very difficult, with regular photo, to get all their faces into the shot, someone is always half hidden. In this photo, Ariel is a bit hidden but otherwise, you can see most everyone!

So I moved her around and now you can see every single doll in the photo! I'd like to say I have all the dolls in this photo but the Doll Sorority has gotten so large, it is harder to do! I think I'll set them all up and take a panorama of them soon but... For now, here's a lot of the gang!

I even had three up on the top bunk and tried getting them in the shot but couldn't pull it off without showing the top and over the 'wall' to the Dollhouse. Phooey!

Ok, I'll stop. I am thinking there will be lots of panoramic photos in my Doll House future! Look, you can even see the little dolls in the dolls' dollhouse! Sweet!

See you next time!

A Second Look at the Low Cost American Doll Three Bunk Bed!

So over the last 48 hours my dear daughter has put in quite a lot of play time in with the bed we made.

In watching her play with it, I realized a few adjustment should be made. In my original inception, I thought the doll mattress should be two thicknesses of the baby bumper pad I made it out of. I mean, it should be comfy right? Then when I was listening to a MyFroggyStuff Tutorial on YouTube she said something about dolls not really needing it to be comfortable in any real way. Aha! That coupled with the fact that the dolls heads were hitting the top bunk whenever they sat up with the double thick mattress and it was decided! Single layer is all I'd need for mattresses! My dear daughter also helped me to see the flaw in my thinking about needing to sew the mattress like real people were gonna be sleeping on it for the next 20 years! She wanted differing sheet patterns for all the bunks and, again in an idea I gleaned from MyFroggyStuff, pillowcases are the perfect size to make bed sheets! So since the 'mattresses' will be covered in 'sheets' they don't need to be 'perfect' and finished. As much as it pained my OCD TypeA personality to do so, I relented to leaving it imperfect in interest of getting more done. Motherhood nowadays is all about choosing priorities, eh? So, back to the 'mattresses' and how we made them!

As I said in the last blog about making a bed, I used a baby crib bumper pad to make the mattresses. I really liked this bumper because one side looked like the old fashioned ticking they made mattresses out of in the old days. Don't be aghast at my saying I cut up a bumper pad. I know how much they are new and would never! Mine was gleaned at Goodwill though, again, as is my custom, for 99cents. It has a stain on and I am sure that is why it didn't sell at the 'full price’ of like $4. Trust me, most any thrift store worth their salt will have one or two to choose from because no one ever uses them twice nowadays, or rarely. Every baby gets a new 'theme' and therefore a new bumper! So this is a great way to use up something that might otherwise end up in a landfill! I washed mine when I got it home, in hot water and dried it so any germaphobes can start to breathe again. Figured if I ruined it, it wasn't meant to be and it was only a dollar. It came out beautifully! Fluffy and nice!

So the next part is to measure how long your 'bed' is going to be, or measure it by your doll if you don't have one yet and just want the mattress. Cut off that length of the bumper, doing your best to keep the integrity of stitching as much as possible in original item.

Since it is going to be living in one of my vintage 1970s pillowcases as it's 'sheet' that raw edge is just going to stay there. Ouch. OCD be quiet!

So you put your mattress into the pillowcase and just wrap it up like you would a gift.
Tucking in corners and making it as smooth as possible.
Then throw in few safety pins and done!!

As my daughter was playing with her bunk bed, I noticed two things, first, she didn't care if the doll was claustrophobic on the very bottom tier, she just wanted another bed space, so I put a mattress on that spot as well. Then, believe it or not, she still didn't have enough bed space for all her dollies and was making little beds for them... How to get more sleeping real estate? A trundle!! That one mattress I was making with two thicknesses of bumper? It works perfect as a trundle under the bunk bed! Woot!

Oh no! Rose has no place to sleep!
Wait what's this?
Perfect!!
(I still have a small amount of finish work to do on that mattress, since it's half way done, I'll persevere and finish the trundle mattress in my original inception since it fits so well. I have enough bumper left that I will be able to make some bed pillows too... I'll show them to you when I get them done. Well, with all that said:

Now it's time for a big slumber party!!

The more the merrier!

As an aside on the bed and background 'room' I made. I had it set up as a bedroom for photos but needed to use it as a sitting room again. So I set the doll bed out of the way and realized it kind of makes two rooms to play in if I do that. Dear daughter thought that was pretty cool!

Thanks again for stopping by! See you again next time!
