Style Girls 18 Inch and 14 Inch Dolls At Big Lots!

Hi Doll Friends!!

Being a member of several different Doll Groups in Facebook, I tend to hear the 'latest' news in all things 18inch doll related rather quickly. Or in any case, I hear it eventually.. Case in point? A doll friend on Facebook mentioned and showed a photo of a very cute 14 Inch doll from Big Lots. She mentioned the brand name was 'Style Girls' and I was even more intrigued.

If you've read my blog here for a while, you may remember I have a few Style Girls in my 18inch doll collection that I found at Aldi during Christmas season 2013. That was the height of my daughters love of 18inch dolls and so I bought three of them as friends to the AG Saige doll she was getting from her Grandma and Grandpa. All of my daughters dolls now live in the Doll House until she decides she's not too old to play dolls again... (Note I say that like it's absolutely going to happen... But I can hold out hope, right? Teehee) However, outside of seeing the doll clothes a few times at Tuesday Morning, I'd never seen them again.

So, naturally, the next time I was in town, I had to run to Big Lots to see what they looked like in person. And sure enough, there they were and such a variety of different girls they had too! I actually 'only' have two Style Girls now because I got rid of one when I had a doll purge once... She'd gotten a really bad stain from a dress with black dye in it and... Well, I gave her to Goodwill. Doll regrets! Now that I know the zit cream method I might've been able to fix her right up. Anyway, I digress. However, since I have so many dolls in the Doll House (around 150 is the number I try to keep it to) I probably won't get another one. However, they also have accessories and clothes!!

I was in a huge hurry when I stopped in because I needed to get back to work from my lunch hour that day but... I snapped a photo of each of the dolls I saw. This one is a bit blurry but you can see her pretty green eyes.

I have this little gal, mine is named Isla and she has been rewigged with a purple and black wig... As I type that I realize I probably haven't posted a blog about that makeover! So, I'll have to tell you about that soon but trust me, she's gorgeous!!

The eyelashes on the right hand side of this dolls face were a bit wonky. So my advice is, if you can, go to store to pick out your doll. But otherwise, their eyes are so pretty!

If I did buy another one, I suspect this little gal would be her. Isn't she pretty!

This one seemingly has a bit more narrow face sculpt. It makes her look a bit older, I think?

Here is the back of the box showing their names.

They had little clothing sets for $7 but this fox one was the only one left... So naturally bought it because what a cute top!! It's on Isla as I type this, I just haven't had a chance to take a photo of her in it yet. So, two reasons to make a post about her!

They had a sleeping bag set that would make a cute gift.

And a vet set... (Sorry it's blurry, did I metion I was in a hurry? Oh look! That rhymed. LOL)

They had pets for the dolls.

And carrier bags...

And even ponies!! A whole doll line! It looks like 'Play Zone' make them now and I am not sure that was the case when I got mine in 2013?

I didn't think they had any of the 14inch dolls in stock because they weren't in same area as the others Style Girls I saw... Then I saw the three they had left on an endcap. They had Piper and Quinn but were out of Skylar. I surprised myself and didn't buy one... I am eagerly (and somewhat impatiently) waiting for Target to finally put out the Glitter Girls I've been hearing about for weeks on my Doll Groups discussion page. Another case of a store doing a dismal job of releasing a new toy line. They've had some store put them out on the shelves weeks ago and sent samples, apparently, to prominent doll bloggers... (which is awesome, don't get me wrong) They should release it all at once! Right? I digress. My point is that I plan to buy one (or two?) of those when they do eventually hit my stores and... Well... A girl can only have so many dolls, right?

However, I don't know if I can hold out from buying this little gal eventually because she's cute and her outfit is totally adorable!! That unicorn!!

So stay tuned because I'll be back to show you the outfit and Isla in her new hair. I hope this finds you looking forward to a relaxing weekend!!

Till next time!

Dolls Go Trick Or Treating!!

Hi Doll Friends,

Happy Halloween!!

It's that time of year again... It seems like the Dolls just went Trick Or Treating last year! So some of the Dolls went Trick Or Treating this last weekend.

It's always kind of hard to get Trick Or Treating photos because it's dark out... But that's part of the magic of them too, right?

What a great group of Trick Or Treaters!

The Dolls also had another Halloween Party like last year but I haven't had the chance to get those photos posted yet.

What are you dressing up for for Halloween this year?

Another Goodwill Doll Makeover!!

Hi Doll Friends!

I recently found this poor mistreated dolly at Goodwill.

For as much of a mess that the doll was, her clothes were like new and four very cute pieces. I bought the doll mainly for the clothes honestly... The dress and jacket are totally adorable! I already own a pair of leggings just like this and boots too. So, the $3.99 I paid was worth it for just the clothes.

The poor doll had been woefully mistreated. Who does this to a doll? Yikes! She was covered over her entire face, arms and hands with ink marks and fingernail polish and dirt. She is one of the first dolls I thought might just be a total loss and unfixable. Still.... I had her home and what did I have to lose really in trying?

So I pulled out my handy Norwex cloth and cleaned off all the surface dirt... Then the next day I went and got a 'magic eraser' sponge and gave her a once over with that. The ink didn't budge... I nearly threw in the towel at that point but I recalled seeing a tip several times in my Doll Groups on Facebook that if you buy zit creme and slather it over the ink and put doll in the sun, you can get the ink to come off. I've never had a doll so far gone that the other two methods I'd already tried didn't work but I'd always wanted to test the zit cream idea. Perfect time and perfect doll!

I wish I would've taken more before and during photos but I kind of got lost to my working on her and forgot. Here she is in her second round of zit cream mask out in the sun.

And in two days of treatments, she was nearly flawless. She has three fingernails on one side that were apparently 'painted' with blue sharpie marker and while they faded quite a lot, they didn't completely go away. I may, at some point, give her a few more zit cream treatments on those fingers but all the other ink mostly vanished! It felt like a miracle!

Since her hair had been cut already it wasn't too difficult to decide to re-wig her. I actually even had a wig on hand that I'd recently purchaed from Amazon for $9.99.

The only other 'flaws' she still has are, when I was cleaning off the nail polish I was using some fingernail polish remover... Well, it kind of removed a spot of paint on her left eyelid. I am sure I'll look for some correctly colored craft paint and paint the spot... Maybe?

When I finally got her all cleaned up and tried on the wig I knew exactly what her 'story' was going to be...

I thought I'd add her two these two lovely dolls as a 'sibling'... Prism and the OG here who I haven't named yet  Update January 8, 2019: Iridescent both have the brilliant green eyes and so does this doll. So they are going to be 'sisters' in the Doll House! I mean I call a lot of the dolls sisters to each other but in their actual little backstory (that is mainly only in my head) I plan to consider them sisters by birth. Hahaha. If that makes sense. They don't look like twins but could definately be siblings!

Have a great day!

Wellie Wisher Emerson Arrives At Doll House!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

I've recently been reading about a new line of dolls that Battat/Our Generation is coming out with called the Glitter Girls. They are likely an answer to the American Girl Doll Wellie Wishers becaues they are exactly the same size for the most part. What's a bit maddening is that even though I've seen them in that video now and on a few Doll Groups on Facebook, I can't find them in stores or online at Target. Why, oh why don't they just release all stores and online all at the same time? So annoying. So I mentioned it to my husband in passing and it's always delightful when he pays close attention and surprises me with a perfect something. Because who should he walk in the door with last Friday? Wellie Wisher Emerson! I guess when I was lamenting not being able to find the Glitter Girls I mentioned something like: "The Glitter Girls will be great because even though I have one Wellie Wisher I don't think I will likely ever splurge to get another one but it'd be fun to have same sized sisters to go with my first Wellie Wisher doll. So what does he do? He goes out and gets me a sibling... Another Wellie Wisher!!

And I love love love her!! She was the one of the two I wanted most... She'd likely have been my first pick if she'd have been in stock the day I went and got my first one. So, perfect!!

Here she is meeting my other Wellie and the girls who were modelign the JoJoSiwa Outfit Set. She was so excited to come out of her box and find so many instant friends!!

I still plan to buy one or two of the Glitter Girls when I eventually do find them I am delighted to have two Wellies, now, for them to be sisters to! My husband is so sweet to me!

Better run!
Happy Thursday!

Walmart's My Life As Doll JoJo Siwa Doll Clothes Set!

Hi Doll Friends!!
I don't know if you've heard of JoJo Siwa but... If you're my daughters age or a little younger, there's no way you can't know who she is. Ironically enough we live in Nebraska, where JoJo Siwa is from. Additionally ironically enough, my own daughter actually used to take dance lessons at Just Dance Company, the studio that Jesslyn Siwa, JoJo's mother, started about the year before JoJo became famous on the Dance Mom's show. I'll have to find a photo of my daughter and JoJo together to show you I am not making that up I suppose... I knew from the moment I saw JoJo dance though that she'd likely be famous someday. She's been amazing even since back then...

So, as you may imagine, it's been very, um, interesting and fascinating to see a little girl I've met and seen in my real life weekly (although it was like five years ago, when you're in your 40s that seems like a week or something, eh?) turned into dolls and posters and any other manner of girl related item you could possiby think of! I've seen her 'fashion dolls' and that was odd enough... I've even seen posters! So... When I heard that My Life As Doll was coming out with a JoJo Doll, I was delighted. How fun!

I couldn't decide if I wanted to buy her or not. I suspect she's going to be a 'hot toy' for the Christmas season this year and so when I found her at Walmart this last weekend I thought "Well, here is your chance... Better buy her if you plan to..." And, I surprised even myself by deciding against getting her. She's cute enough but I have 1) lots and lots of dolls and 2) quite a few blonde hair blue eyed dolls. I even have a blonde hair blue eyed My Life As Doll. Teehee. I can't decide for sure if they created a whole new face scuplt for the JoJo Doll but I think not? What do you think?

Who knows, maybe at some point, if she's available, I may pick up a JoJo doll because her outfit is adorable!! But... Speaking of outfits...

One reason I was sanquine about not buying the actual doll was that they also have a JoJo Siwa Doll Clothing Set!! I figured if I bought the set I could use my current blonde hair blue eyed doll as a JoJo Doll... You know what I mean?

So that's what I did. I bought the set of clothes for $20.00. It really is a pretty cute set! I love the PJs and $20 for three outfits is a pretty good deal. So here we have Angela, my JoJo (she hadn't been named yet even! I may add some pink lip color to her?? But honestly she might end up being my JoJo Siwa doll... What do you think about that idea? Lame?) and Samantha all modeling the outfits! Aren't they cute?!

Better run!
