My Life As Doll Bathroom Set In The Doll House!

Doll Friends!!

I found one!! I found one!! I found the new My Life As Doll Bathroom Set from Walmart!!!

It's fantastic!!! Really, they did a great job on this. I've long looked Julie's Bathroom from American Girl Doll and pined over having one myself... But really if I am spending $195 on a bathroom it's going to be the one I actually take showers in myself. Haha. I even 'made' a bathroom for my own doll house that's gone through many 'updates' over the years. However I always wanted a 'shower' in my doll bathroom because, let's get real, more people take showers than take baths so... Or at least in my house/world.

So My Life As Doll releasing one for $39.99...? Well, even if I already had a bathroom in the Doll House, that had to happen. It was the thing I was most excited about of all the things I've seen My Life As Doll come out with this year and I am so stoked to have found it. I suspect it'll be a 'hot toy' and harder and harder to find as we go towards Christmas. Perhaps I'll be wrong and they'll, for once, have enough made to meet demand. I'll hope so!!

Here is Heather Doll reading the back of the box.

Here is the back of the box so you can see the whole thing.

Here is the UPC. I have found that some people want the UPC in order to locate the items in the store...? I am not internet savvy enough to know how to do this but in case you are, here you go.

Here is the front of the box.

Here are the accessories it comes with; a cute toothbrush, tube of toothpaste, a cup, conditioner and shampoo! All the essential items for your doll to get ready for the day!

The toilet really 'flushes'. If you want to see it in action, there is a great YouTube video of it by Chloe's Playroom!

The lights work as well! So fun!

It was pretty easy to get out of the box especially compared to some set's I've unboxed before. Just a few zip ties to cut....

There is one here too... and the toilet is held in place by:

a zip tie and...

This little dohickey. I imagine they had to 'bolt' it in so it wouldn't shift around or fall out of package. But just know it's there so your little one doesn't get frustrated when the "toilet won't come out of the shower!!"

There are clear bands at both the tie and the...

curtain rings to keep it from moving around.

This was weird... The bands were 'stuck' in the wall... Not sure if it just mine or not and naturally I cut them off as close to the wall as I could but... Like I say, weird.

The cabinet is taped shut so it won't open in packaging and get damaged or broken.

Same with the toilet. The tape comes off very easily though and leaves no sticky residue.

So here it is, all set up!

As I was taking photos of Heather Doll in the mirror I giggled in mirth because the mirror, being a 'toy' mirror and not actual glass (because: toy!) the effect is a bit like the fun house mirrors in the carnivals I went to as a child. It distorts your image just a bit... So... Naturally I took like five photos to show you what I mean and giggle with me. Heather Doll won't mind you laughing at her, she laughed too. ;)

Ok... I'll stop. Heeheehee...

Heather Doll is going to brush her teeth in the cute sink!

Good oral hygiene is so important! Teeth, you only get two sets! Take care of them! Eh?

The toothbrush is cool in that it has a handle that lets the doll hold it. Neat!

When she was done, Heather put the items in the little cupboard. She likes her bathroom to be tidy after all.

She wanted to show you the shower so don't mind her being in there with her clothes on!

The shower curtain closes well and covers everything. Yes, Heather Doll is in there.

The toilet is cute... Like the review by Chloe's Playroom said, you can't really get the dolls to sit on the toilet like they would if there were actually, well, you know, using the toilet. But I don't think too many doll photos will be taken of my dolls sitting on the loo so for me it's not that big a deal.

I love that the toilet seat actually goes up and down. Awesomeness! Not just the lid to the toilet but the seat as well!

Heather Doll says "Don't forget to put the seat down!"

So... I think this is a great set especially for the price... Snap one up for your dollies and I am sure they'll love it!

Better run!

Maplelea Taryn Moves Into The Doll Village!

Hi Doll Friends!!

I couldn't help it!! She jumped into my shopping buggy on Amazon!
I didn't have the heart to tell her to get back out.
Teehee.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Meet Taryn:

But how could I not:

Because for some reason, for a very short window of time, she was on sale for only $75.00!! Now, I know I shouldn't be one of those people who compare a doll to American Girl Dolls and say they are a better deal... But... I am about to do that. Maplelea are, in my opinion, by far, one of the very finest quality dolls on the market for the price point they sell for, usually $99.99. American Girl Dolls start at $115 and you always have to pay shipping (Lame! Get with the times there AG, most people give free shipping on orders over like $35!!) and so comparitively they are much more expensive. Maplelea's quality is on par with American Girl in every way and surpases it in more than a few. So anyway, I was so happy when they started selling them on Amazon because before that I couldn't buy them as they are made in Canada. So to find Taryn on sale for only $75.00? I didn't even think, I just popped her in my shopping buggy and dashed to virtual checkout before they could change the price! Haha!

Poor Taryn's hair was a bit messy when she arrived... I imagine she had a pony tie on her hair that came loose? Poor dear!

This time I got my very first print Maplelea catalog!!! Uh oh... That could be dangerous... Teehee.

I haven't gotten as many photos of her as I'd like but I had to come and show her off!

Ok... So I guess I took a few photos....

So, of course I love her...

Better run!

New My Life As Doll and Our Generation Boy Dolls!!

Doll Friends!

There are so many neat 18inch Doll items coming out right now that it's hard to keep track or to knwo which I want to buy more with my Doll Mad Money! Oy vey!! Ever since My Life As Doll released their first boy dolls, then Our Generation followed suite and finally American Girl Doll did, it's been so much fun watching the boy doll market take off! So I was in Walmart this weekend looking for the 'new stuff' and all I found was a whole lot of nothing on that score... Untill... On a shelf that wasn't even in the My Life As Doll section, I see this fella.

He's one of the two new boy dolls out from My Life As Doll this year and he has a man bun!?!?!

Both of the new boys do although I only saw one of the two on the shelf.

Here he is next to another new release doll, a skater.

And another new one, I love the donut PJs! If the consensus on the Doll Groups of Facebook are any indication, My Life As might've bombed out on these new guys. Mostly I got 'that's horrible!' reactions... A few people mentioned re-wigging and I laughed because it's like going back to square one really... A few years ago the only way to get an 18inch boy doll was to chop off a girl dolls hair and customize her into a boy. Now... A boy doll is coming out and we are still talking about scalping the doll! I don't think I'll buy either of them any time soon. Perhaps if they get slashed to deep clearance this time next year I'll grab one or two and rewig them but for now... Um. No.

However... I've been shopping researching Target for new items in the Our Generation Dolls and low and behold....

Much like the Tyler Doll, they knocked this out of park. I think he is adorable.

So.... yeah....

He's on the way to the Doll House... Teehee.

I may very well run out of August Doll Mad Money before the 10th at this rate but... Meh... You only live once!! Right? Can't wait for him to arrive so I can show him to you! I am not keeping his name Gabe.... I'll reveal his new name after he arrives... So I can make sure the name 'fits' after I see him in person.

So... If you've been waiting on taking the plunge on an 18inch boy doll for your Doll House, there are so many great options now! The only downside of the boy dolls being mass produced now is that the sellers who's specialty was making custom boys have likely taken a bad hit. But... That's the free market for you. If there is a market for something, people rush to fill it. Isn't it grand?

Better run! Have about five different drafts I am working on currently... Let's see if I can't get another one finished this morning before I have to be a grown-up again...

What's In A Name? Penniless Caucasian Rubbish; A Nomdeplume Story

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

When I chose the name of my blogging nomdeplume, it came as naturally as the rain. A bit of self depreciating humor  mixed with a fun play on words. I am proud of the fact that I come from a long line of what a lot of people would call "PoWhiteTrash" because my heritage is one of southern origins and none of my family had much money. What we didn't have in money we had in great food and amazing lessons in sewing and all manner of craftiness born of a need to use up everything, not to keep the Craft Store in business. I had jokingly said for years that, if I ever wrote my 'memiors' (so dramatic!) I'd call it "Po White Trash; Memiors of an American Girl". So when I started a different blog on MySpace back in 2007, trying to think of a clever nomdeplume:
PennilessCaucasianRubbish was born.

I even went by Penni to several of the bloggers I networked with back then in my fun and amazing poetry circles! I've tried to find the original blog but I abandoned Myspace many moons ago and have had no luck! Also, it was an entirely different blog than this one is. Think dark poetry & angst and that's what was vented there. Maybe you all are more clever than I am and can find it? I was able to find this random blog post on a blog I started and made one entry to back in 2008 to illustrate I, in earnest, have had the nickname for a long time. Eitherwise, that's where the name came from. I guess I should've blogged about it before but when you have a nick name for so long, you don't even think about it too much anymore.

Somewhere in the last few years, I sort of snuck out from behind my nomdeplume and started using my real name Heather... Obviously. I've since linked to some of that dark poetry I mentioned in my 'sister' blog Penniless Caucasian Rubbish Writes. So... PennilessCaucasianRubbish has kind of taken on a life of it's own in a way... When I googled it looking for that Myspace page I almost fell of my chair at how many references there are. I guess I can talk. A lot. Hahaha! My Granddaddy did always say "No buddy, that Heather, now she can talk." Teehee. Too true, too true. So... There you have it. How this blog got it's 'weird' name. As Paul Harvey would always say: "Now you have it, the rest of the story!"

Better run!
