Our Generation Camden and Glitter Girls Shaska Come Home to Doll House

Hi Doll Friends!

So I know I've said I need to stop buying dolls...
But sometimes, how can you help it? Haha!
I've been looking for a boy doll with hazel eyes for the doll house for a little while now...
Low and behold, I found Camden. He was perfect! I've renamed him Aaron. I'm so happy to have him in the doll house.

Then, I was on Amazon recently and I've always admired Glitter Girls Shaska for a while now. So when I saw that she was on sale for $13.50 with a $3.50 coupon? I couldn't help but pick her up!

Here is Camden/Aaron while he was still in the box. I was so excited to get him that I didn't think to take the time to take 'in the box' photos of him. Isn't he handsome?

When Shaska arrived I decided it would be cute to have Aaron Doll help her out of her box in a sequence of photos. So here they are:

She could totally be his little sister because she has hazel eyes too.

These two Glitter Girl outfits were on a good sale, with the coupon applied they were only like $6.00 each, so I had to pick them up too!

Have you gotten any exciting new dolls or doll items lately? I'd love to hear about it in the comments!

Better run.

New My Life As Doll and Our Generation Boy Dolls!!

Doll Friends!

There are so many neat 18inch Doll items coming out right now that it's hard to keep track or to knwo which I want to buy more with my Doll Mad Money! Oy vey!! Ever since My Life As Doll released their first boy dolls, then Our Generation followed suite and finally American Girl Doll did, it's been so much fun watching the boy doll market take off! So I was in Walmart this weekend looking for the 'new stuff' and all I found was a whole lot of nothing on that score... Untill... On a shelf that wasn't even in the My Life As Doll section, I see this fella.

He's one of the two new boy dolls out from My Life As Doll this year and he has a man bun!?!?!

Both of the new boys do although I only saw one of the two on the shelf.

Here he is next to another new release doll, a skater.

And another new one, I love the donut PJs! If the consensus on the Doll Groups of Facebook are any indication, My Life As might've bombed out on these new guys. Mostly I got 'that's horrible!' reactions... A few people mentioned re-wigging and I laughed because it's like going back to square one really... A few years ago the only way to get an 18inch boy doll was to chop off a girl dolls hair and customize her into a boy. Now... A boy doll is coming out and we are still talking about scalping the doll! I don't think I'll buy either of them any time soon. Perhaps if they get slashed to deep clearance this time next year I'll grab one or two and rewig them but for now... Um. No.

However... I've been shopping researching Target for new items in the Our Generation Dolls and low and behold....

Much like the Tyler Doll, they knocked this out of park. I think he is adorable.

So.... yeah....

He's on the way to the Doll House... Teehee.

I may very well run out of August Doll Mad Money before the 10th at this rate but... Meh... You only live once!! Right? Can't wait for him to arrive so I can show him to you! I am not keeping his name Gabe.... I'll reveal his new name after he arrives... So I can make sure the name 'fits' after I see him in person.

So... If you've been waiting on taking the plunge on an 18inch boy doll for your Doll House, there are so many great options now! The only downside of the boy dolls being mass produced now is that the sellers who's specialty was making custom boys have likely taken a bad hit. But... That's the free market for you. If there is a market for something, people rush to fill it. Isn't it grand?

Better run! Have about five different drafts I am working on currently... Let's see if I can't get another one finished this morning before I have to be a grown-up again...

Our Generation Boy Doll Arrives At Doll House!

Hi Doll Friends,

When he first came out, I wasn't sure I wanted to get the new Our Generation Boy Doll Rafael. I have lots of boy dolls in the Doll House already. However, this past weekend my sweet husband gifted me with some mad money to spend on dolls and so off to the internet I went to browse.

When I went to Target's website to see what might appeal to me there, if anything, and this little fella popped up at the top of the list of dolls. Suddenly, I had a moment of impulse purchase fever and before I knew it, he was in my 'cart' along with another item so I'd get free shipping... Does that ever happen to you? Teehee.

I am so glad I bought him!! He is so much more handsome in real life than he was on the website. To me anyway. His eyes are gorgeous!

Here he is in the box. When he first came out of the box, his hair was super stiff with some sort of gel... At first I was a bit worried that it was junk hair but then I searched YouTube and discovered that all you need to do is rinse out his hair with warm water and it washes all the 'traveling gel' out of his hair. So I did that and, sure enough, his hair is lovely.

One thing I found interesting was that he has the words "Our Generation" on the back of his neck, not Battat like other OG Dolls have. I think, now I am going to have to go look at other newer OG's to be sure? I might've only noticed because his hair is short?

I actually found two flaws in my doll... I don't really want to take him back because of such little flaws but, they are flaws. What are your thoughts? He had this little hard bulge in his torso, like a sewing pin or something got sewn up inside of him or something. Very strange. But I guess people do have scars too and I get a kick out such things so...

He also had this little brown dot on his forehead, like when they were painting his eyebrows an errant drop of paint dropped by accident. Again, people do have moles so...

I am pretty sure I will keep him. I've decided to name him Tyler after one of my son's very first friends. They've been friends since the womb because his mother and I were pregnant together. I was trying to puzzle out a good name and then all the sudden when I was photographing him on the porch I thought "He looks just like Tyler!!"

What do you think? Am I close? Eitherwise, his name is Tyler.

Do you have any boy dolls? I love mine because, in real life, there are always boys as well as girls! Right? So, I need brothers and cousins and classmates and friends for my girl dolls too!

Better run!

My Life As Doll Soccer Ensemble From Walmart!

Hi Doll Friends!!

As you may be aware, I have become rather fond of the My Life As Dolls line of dolls and doll accessories that is manufactured for the Walmart stores.

A while ago I bought one of their fashion ensembles for my Josh Doll. The real Josh played soccer a lot in his childhood so it was almost a 'have to' purchase, right? Hahaha.

At $9.99, the outfits really are a pretty good deal considering most ensembles from American Girl are priced at around $35... Obviously the quality isn't nearly as good but they really do pretty well considering the price point.

Here is Josh in the outfit. It didn't come with shoes so he is wearing the shoes that I got in the My Life As Doll A Day In The Life Set for boys. I actually ended up with two of those sets as I recall because I found another one on sale and I have a lot of boy dolls who need clothes. Haha.

So here is Josh Doll kicking around the cute ball that comes with the set.

As you can see, the shirt has a velcro closure in the back. The shorts have an elastic waist. The little shin guards are adorable and have stretchy elastic to hold them on.

I actually put this outfit on Josh doll more than a week ago and then didn't have the time to take the photos right away. So he sat in the black socks that come with the outfit for a while. Well, sadly, the socks stained his legs a bit. Not horrible and they might come clean but it kind of bummed me out. So the socks when right into the bin because they won't be going on any of my other dolls or Josh again. So... Forwarning! The socks might stain your dollies legs. I have read there are measures you can take to keep this from happening (like laundering the item) but I am more of a 'better safe than sorry' sort of gal on that score and so I just threw them away.

All in all though, other than the socks, it is a cute set. So keep an eye out for it at your local Walmart store!!

Till Next Time!

Creatology Soccer Ensemble

Hi Doll Friends!

As I've mentioned before in other posts, Micheals craft store is discontinuing carrying the Springfield doll line. They've started selling a whole new kind of doll made by Creatology. They are very cute dolls! I have all four of them already! Hard to pass up when you can buy them for about $15 each with a 40% off coupon! (They are $25 full price)

However, I had never bought any of the doll clothes by Creatology. They are $14.99 regular price! Only about $10 less than a whole doll! Hard to do...

However one day I had a 50% off coupon and finally decided to give it a go. There were two reasons I wanted this outfit. The first is the black shoes! I needed plain black shoes to go with Josh dolls tuxedo! I had quite a few "boy" type shoes but nothing that could pass for boy shoes. So... These were perfect.

Obviously the second reason I bought the set was for the soccer outfit... It is pretty cute.

Here is photo on back of box of other ensembles.

Here is Vito wearing the outfit. I put a different pair of shoes on him. Fits pretty well... Although the Creatology dolls are a smidge smaller than standard dolls of this type... They are a bit thinner and are only 17inches tall.

So the shirt has a bit of a gap in back when you close it.

All in all, pretty cute... I'll eventually get the photos done of Heather and Josh in all their wedding finery done and I'll show you the shoes that came with set then!

Chat soon!

American Girl Doll And Our Generation eBay Doll Restoration

Greetings Doll Friends!

I jacks wanted to make a boy out of an American Girl Doll because I like so many of the ones I've seen online. I knew I'd never have one unless a very inexpensive AG happened to find me but that is a pretty rare thing!

Then, I was actually searching for an OG doll on eBay when I came across an auction ending soon with an AG and an OG both along with quite a few (some somewhat worn and others quite nice) clothes. I bid max I could allow myself to pay and put it out of my mind. Then I won!

I should've known it was too good to be true. Or sort of. Because, when they arrived, they were the two dirtiest dolls I'd ever seen. It was like their former owner played with them in a sandbox. Which is never a good idea to do with any toy you don't want to get filthy. I was pretty dismayed when I looked them over closely... Just shamefully dirty and the eBay seller said they were:

"The doll on the left is an American girl doll. Someone cut her hair shorter (not a bad job) and the doll on the right is an our generation doll. Both are in good condition. Included is three pairs of shoes and some clothing. A few pieces may be American girl. Also a few pieces show some really hard playing with."

So... I guess that could mean they were as filthy as they were? I haven't left feedback or contacted them yet but... Oh well! They were here and I just couldn't leave them that way!!! So I pulled out my handy Norwex cloths and set to work. I thought the AG was the dirtiest doll I had ever cleaned... Until I started on the OG! She was a hot mess. I actually thought she was beyond help because her hair was nasty dirty. It even had like chunks of dirt in it. Ewww! But, having nothing to lose with her, especially since it'd been the AG I was after anyway, I set to work. I covered her eyes with cotton balls held on with bandaids. It was a trick I saw in a makeover video somewhere... Keeps the eyes more protected from water and I needed to literally douse her with hot hot water and shampoo the dirt and grime out. I'd never has nerve to get whole scalp wet before but that was only way she was gonna get clean enough. So I scrubbed her hair, put in some conditioner and let it sit a minute and rinsed with really hot water. Then I combed her out with a wire wig brush... Pretty pleased with results of both!! What do you think? I named the girl already so I must like her. Am trying to think of a boy name... Do you think his hair is too long? I think he looks like a skateboarder and their hair is often longer...

Till next time!
