Introducing Francis! My Most Recent Custom Doll

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

Well... I've done it again. It's not my fault!! Beautifully Custom had a sale on their doll wigs! Their doll wigs often cost upwards of $30-40 and they had some on sale for $17.00 shipped!

I couldn't help myself. I had to buy one. (It's a good thing I have a budget or I might've bought three or four! Hahaha!) The one I chose was called "Cupcake". Like the other Beautifully Custom doll wig I have, it was even more beautiful in person than it was on the website.

Here it is in it's fancy fabric drawstring bag. So posh! They always come with a little hair bow too. Such a great product!

Inside the fabric bag there there is also a plastic bag with pretty designs on it and a fancy Beautifully Custom sticker. Awesomeness. So... I ordered the wig but with no doll in mind as to who might end up getting customized with it.

This Heidi Ott Doll that I customized last year was one that, while I liked her better that I did when I started with her  after her body transplant and wig change, I still wasn't totally satisified with her. So I'd never glued on her wig... You know, just in case. Teehee.

I am so glad I did! Because the minute I put this wig on this doll I knew it was practically made for her. Isn't it she cute??

I named her Francis because I've always loved that name.

She just looked so pretty out in the natural light that I had to keep taking her photo.

So I am sure she will become a favorite doll of mine in the Doll House.

See? I kept taking her photo!

So pretty! Well.... Then.... This past weekend... When my Doll Mad Money Budget was replenished for July Beautifully custom sent me another email about another sale!! Uh oh.

This one wasn't quite as inexpensive, it was $27 shipped... It's on it's way here.

Then, low and behold, another one of my favorite wig companies, Exquisite Doll Designs,  had a sale. Uh oh.

This gorgeous wig was only $17.77!! So... I ordered it too. I have an idea of who's going to get this one and she's going to be gorgeous in it!

Gotta run!

Till Next Time!

Uh Oh! Beautifully Custom Doll Wigs Had A Seconds Sale!

Hi Doll Friends!

I've heard of them but never actually shopped one... But last night Beautifully Custom Doll Wigs had one of their seconds sales. I'd never shopped one before but wanted to check it out because they said they'd have wigs for as low as $14.00! So I even set the alarm on my phone and went there exactly at 9PM when they were supposed to launch the sale. Yes, me and about half the rest of the country I guess because we totally crashed their server. I kept trying and having it half load and then crash again and then would see the wigs on sale but not be able to put them in the cart etc etc... Until like 10:55PM. What can I say? I got caught up in it... Like it became a mission to get through the lines or something Perhaps that is the closest I'm ever going to get to Black Friday shopping? Hahaha! So which wigs did I end up ordering?

Well, to be honest, I only got this one ordered last night. Why? Well, 1) I felt guilty even trying to order more because I knew from Facebook chat groups that there were a lot people wanting to get at least one wig and I didn't want to be selfish and 2) once I got this one in the cart and got the 'view cart and pay' screen to come up, I just 'rang up' for fear if I 'kept shopping' I'd have it crash on me again, if that makes sense. I am so happy I got this one... Of all the ones they had listed it was likely my favorite. I love the length and the soft pastel colors. Just beautiful.

Then, this morning, when I woke up, I decided to go and see what was left after the feeding frenzy. That is when I found this beautiful bobbed wig. I'd seen it last night in a thumbnail but only from the front. I thought it was just lavender and it didn't really interest me. Then when I opened up the details I saw it from the side and I loved it almost more than the other one I got. So I snatched it up. I mean, $14.00!?

See, this is the thumb nail I saw and you can't really tell it's more than one color.... Thank goodness cos if it had been apparent I think it would've been sold out already.

This is the first time I've purchased anything from a 'seconds' sale before so we'll see how bad the 'flaws' are. It says they are small and possibly not even noticable if you're not too picky or something along those lines. I can't imagine the sale would be so popular if they were too flawed.

Breaking News!!!
As I was sitting here writing this blog I was on the Beautifully Custom website and I saw a couple of wigs that were still available and I was telling my husband how great a deal they were... And, sweet guy that he is, he say's "Well, then why don't you pick up a couple more?" AWESOMENESS!!

So which two did I pick? You'll likely be surprised because, quite frankly so was I... But I got this one:

I have a sort of plan for this wig in my mind already... I just have to find the right doll. It's only a matter of time and at that price, I can tuck it away till she comes along.

Then I also got this one... Also a bit different but I love silver colored hair!!

It is going to be so much fun customizing more dolls. No doll is safe in my house anymore!! Haha! Not until I glue down the wig and even then, not all bets are off. I'll keep you posted on them as they arrive!

Better run!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

Happy Friday! As I mentioned in a a recent post I bought another Beautifully Custom wig called Apple Crisp. I've wanted to get an ombre wig for a while now to make a custom doll of someone I really admire. So when I saw that one go on sale for $27.00 shipped, I knew the time was right!

Meet Melania Trump! I already have Barron Trump doll and since I had him I thought it would be fun to have a Melania as well. I think she is so gorgeous and very ladylike and she's also as sharp as a tack. I wish I could speak five languages!! Heck, I wish I could speak two!

I decided a while ago that I was going to use this doll to make Melania. She was actually originally named Lauren Southern but I've since decided that a different doll would suit her better as her doppelganger doll. I actually just ordered her replacement yesterday when I got a ToysRUs gift certificate from my husband as a suprise. He sure does know the way to my heart! I think Meredith from Journey Girls actually looks a lot more like Lauren. So... Perfect!

Here is the doll prior to her hair being shorn off. It was the slightest bit painful cutting off that pretty hair but... Sacrifices must be made when you love to customize! Am I right?

Here is the wig as it arrived in the mail. Beautifully Custom does such an awesome job. They ship very quickly and with the packaging they make it feel very 'special' every time you get a wig from them, even when they are on sale.

See? It comes in that pretty fabric drawstring bag, and a pretty designed bag and another bag and a zip log bag and a hair net. So, very safe and sound!

I think she looks perfect! Melania has very deep blue eyes and amazing hair and I think the wig is just like her hair.

So pretty!

See how amazing the wig is?

So, another doppelganger doll to live in the Doll House! How fun.

I love our First Lady!

Better run!

Trying A New Beautifully Custom Wig On My Madame Alexander Doll

Hi Doll Friends!

I got my Beautifully Custom Doll Wigs recently. I decided to try one of them on a Madame Alexander doll I have. I think she looks so pretty! I haven't decided if I will keep it on her or not. I like it well enough but... Well, what do you think? One reason I'm not positive is because the wig, because it's high quality, is kind of heavy and so it nearly pulls her over and makes it hard for her to hold her head strait. I might put it on another doll and put the brown wig back on tihs one.

I love doll wigs.. It's so much fun to give a doll a whole new look!

I better run! I keep thinking I'll get back to posting more often and more consistently but... Well, life is a lot... A lot! Haha. I'm sure you know what I mean!

Shuri Gets A Makeover!!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

As I mentioned in a recent post about Snowflake, I recently ordered yet another wig from Beautifully Custom because they put one I thought was beautiful on sale for $27.00 shipped. I wasn't even sure exactly which doll I would use this wig for, I only knew I thought it was gorgeous! As per usual, the wig arrived pretty quickly in the mail. I got it a few days ago but it's been a crazy busy week in the 'non-doll' part of my life and so I am only now getting here to tell you about it.

Here is the wig on Shuri, the Madame Alexander that was the second one my daughter ever got. When I got it in the mail, all of the sudden I knew who it would be for. I've wanted to re-wig Shuri for a long time... Naturally, since she was my daughter's second 18inch doll, she is very special to me. My daughter gave her and Calla to me as a gift when she 'outgrew' them.

Since Shuri was one of her first 18inch dolls that was given to her when she was 4 years old, let's just say that she was played with quite a lot. I didn't really know all that much about dolls and the proper way to care for them. For instance, her hair was often brushed with same brushes used by my daughter or me and I didn't have any idea that's not a good idea. People have natural oils in their hair and oftentimes styling products as well, that get on thier hair brushes. Which is actually good for human hair. For doll hair though, not so good. The oils or products get in the dolls hair and makes it get dirtier even faster than it otherwise might. I also didn't even know there was such a thing as a wig brush much less how big a difference it would make in my dolls hair if I used one. I actually didn't have one until I bought a Hanger and Brush set from Sophia Dolls in December of 2015. (I think? I didn't post that blog post until months after I bought it as I recall...) So, I highly recommend getting a wig brush or two that are only used on your doll's hair. I bought a second one at Sally's Beauty Supply I think since I have so much doll hair to brush. Haha.

Here is Shuri just before her makeover. She is really a pretty doll even though I have to admit I always found her hair color a bit strange. Almost pink instead of red? I wasn't sure I wanted to make her over into an actual red-head or not because I already have quite a few in my collection and I wanted something 'special'.

When I got the wig I knew it was practically made for Shuri! It's got pinks and yellows and oranges! Kind of like her original hair but more 'special'.

Beautifully Custom wigs are so gorgeous!!

I loved it immediately! So utterly adorable!! Right?

I love her. I haven't gotten it glued down yet but it's definately going to be because I think it's perfect.

Can't wait to get her outside to take some better photos!

Maybe later today after church I will get a chance. Speaking of, I better go get ready if I am going to make it there on time! Have a terrific Sunday!
