Doll Sized Tupperware Modular Mates Score From Goodwill!!

Hi Doll Friends!!

When I was a little girl, my mother, for a short time, was a Tupperware Lady. I think she became a consultant just to be able to get the 'kit' that came as part of the package when you sign up. Presumably, the kit is to take to Tupperware parties to show off the pretty dishes to the possible clients. I won't lie, I don't recall even one time my Mom actually did a party so... I suspect that is the case. In any case, it established, in me, a love of Tupperware products from an early age. Also, a pretty uncanny ability to identify and locate any Tupperware item at a thrift store from 20 paces. Hahaha.

I have quite a bit of Doll Sized Tupperware in the Doll House from such sources. I got the Cake Taker Set from the 1970s at a thrift store once for only 50cents! Then I ended up getting the Barbie version of the cake taker at a totally different store. Do I need two cake takers? Um... That's a great question. Until I figure out the answer, I'll hold on to both of them. There could be a bake sale in the Doll House! You never know! Right? I searched and searched on Tupperware's website and it appears that they don't sell the cake taker anymore? They do have the kids baking set and the mini serving set... But it would appear the only place to find the kids cake taker is on eBay or other second hand sources. What's up with that Tupperware? Weird much? I am sure it would sell. Right? I really should've have done that eBay search for you to post the linky... Now I know they made a modern version! I will tell you, if I find that one cheaply second hand, I will have a third cake taker in the Doll House! How cute!! I digress...

I found this little bag of modular mates at Goodwill and I literally giggled out loud. I have modular mates galore in my own, real, kitchen. To tell the truth, I also became a Tupperware dealer for a few months once, to earn the kit and get the discount. I picked up a lot of Modular Mates then. They are pretty expensive and so I only got a few new. However, as you may have surmised by reading this here little blog, I have a bit of an 'eye' for finding things. And I have like 100 modular mates in my kitchen, storing all my stuff... Right down to the spice containers. So, to have modular mates in my dollies cupboards just makes me smile.

Here are six of them in the doll kitchen. Aren't htey cute?! Even though they probably won't be seen all that often in my doll scenes, I'll get a kick out of knowing they are in the little cupboard all the time, 'storing' my dollies staples. How fun is that?

Better run!

Recent Thrifty Finds Thrift Shop and Flea Market!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

As you know, whenever I happen to be close-by to a Thrift Shop, I have to stop in just in case there are any doll sized items there. On Friday I had to go into a nearby town that has a thrift shop and I found some really great items there!

Check out this Vintage Tupperware in the 1980's colors! We had this same exact Tupperware when I was a kid... Each of us had our own assigned color and 'my' color was orange.. So it was so neat to see them again and in doll size! The best part? The price!

The cake taker was only 50cents and the cups and plates were $1.00 for all of them! Score!! They are actually the tiniest bit too large for 18inch dolls, scale wise.... Unless you 'pretend' that these are like the large 32oz Tumblers and they did make those! My mother was a Tupperware lady and so I'd know!

The cake taker, while a bit large, is fun because you can stick the dolls hands in under the handles and they can hold the cake taker all by themselves!

Here is a photo of some other finds... The little 'tea strainer' was new in the box but I unboxed it for the photo so you could maybe see why I bought it for the doll house. It looks like a large pasta strainer and little bowl it comes with will be a great pet bowl!

I didn't realize at first what the red cups were, thinking they were just more play cups. They actually came in the bag with the Tupperware plates and cups and was about to donate them back until I realized they were 'stacking cups' like my kids had played with at school so much! Awesomeness!

The plates in the bag with the little girl on them were only 15cents and I loved the Holly Hobby look of the little girl on them... I think the smaller size will be great for the doll house and the larger size will just get donated back to a thrift store.

The little golden forks were perfect size and I'll never have a shortage of forks for dolly dinner parties ever again.... I'll have to find someone to share some of them with. The little Candy Corn shaped erasers are perfect for Halloween cookies. The little whisk was only 50cents and how cute is that? The Battle Ship Game was only 35cents. I love thrift stores! So much fun for so little money!

Here are Cat and Marissa enjoying some cookies on the new plates!

Susannah loves her new whisk!

The girls decided to try and teach themselves how to play dominoes!

Cat turn out to be an ace at the stacking cups!

This is some other stuff I got... See there are the dominoes I mentioned. The little baskets were so cute and I just removed the embellishments they had on them and will use them this upcoming Easter as Easter baskets perhaps. The little Bible is because I can't resist the Bible big or small... I love the Word of God. I bought the cheesy 80's wall adornment (with pink flower) to cut off the cute little doll sized spools of thread. It was only a quarter and so it was worth it. The stockings, obviously, will be for the girls at Christmas time! We have a beautiful fireplace from Frann to hang stockings on, I needed some! They were only a quarter each! I am taking the cards out and might put photos of the appropriate dolls in them at Christmas... Who knows?

Here is Brandy with the basket after I took the cheesy stuff off it's handle with the cute little doll sized spools of thread in it.

Cute baskets!

Susannah said "These will be great at peach season when we have to harvest them so often!"

Here is a photo of the little tin dishes and forks in their box. The plates were all in pretty amazing shape considering they are probably 30 years old if not older... The little box of forks, if I had to guess, probably sat in some persons drawer for 40years waiting for a party fancy enough to warrant them being used. Luckily for me, they ended up saving them for my dolls parties in the future! Right?

Here is Brandi enjoying a Halloween cookie! Notice the coat on her chair... She had it on in the first photo as well..

Perhaps you noticed the outfit Cat was wearing...? Well, I mentioned in the title of this blog Thrift Shop and Flear Market Finds...? I went by Flea Market recently and my favorite Toy Vendor had some 18inch doll clothes! She charged me $2 for this outfit and $2 for each of the jackets.

I love both coats so much for different reasons and perfect timing since it's turning cooler by the day...

Perhaps you noticed the white coat on Frann on the trip to the Tree Park the other day...? It just made her outfit!

I saw these cute doll clothes too but I am just a bit too cheap to pay $10 an outfit for outfits that aren't really in 'my' styles... Still... Very cute and fun to see.

That's it for now Doll Friends!

Till next time!

Vintage Doll Sized Play Food eBay Find and Technical Difficulties!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

You may have already read this posting in a more 'raw' version... I've been having numerous technical issues with the Blogger App on my phone ever since I upgraded it. Let me tell you, I generally put off upgrades until my phone basically tells me "If you don't upgrade me I will spontaniously combust in five, four, three, two...." because of this very thing. I am a very fast processor when it comes to data entry and typing once I get used to the 'spacing' on things (like the size of icons and where they are etc). So just the slightest alterations can really slow down my processing time... So annoying! Anyway, sorry for the 'tech rant'... I know the technology that allows me to write this blog at all is really amazing, like something out of a Sci-Fi film when I was a little girl so I will stop complaining now. Haha! But I wanted to explain why this was orignally poste d in a 'raw' form. I thought I'd hit 'Save as Draft' but apparently I must've hit 'publish'. Oops! I didn't realize it was published until I got a comment from Frann! So thanks for commenting Frann!

Ok... On to the doll stuff.....!

I'm not sure if y'all have ever heard of this type of vintage play food... Depending on how long you've read my blog, you might've seen it here before because the reason I have 'heard of it' is because I found some out thrifting once upon a time and I've loved it ever since.

So, I've had "vintage play food" as a standard search at eBay for a long time searching for more after finding it at the thrift store. Similar ones would come up sometimes  but always at more than I wanted to pay.

Till this one with a BuyItNow!! What's even better is they had a 'Make an Offer' button and I always do make an offer because my mother, having lived in Europe for over a decade, turned me into a 'barterer' and I find it kind of fun. So I offered $8.00 and they totally accepted!! SCORE!!

I love this stuff because it's super light weight plastic, like hollow, so each "serving" can stack into itself and save space in storage. This type of play food would only be good for kids that are careful with things because they could be "crushed" with rough play but fabulous for doll photos which is my thing...  I love the asparagus bundles, mac&cheese and baked potatoes best! I already had six of the baked beans and franks from thrift so I don't really need those... Unless I have a really big beans and franks party or something? Haha.

Aren't they adorable? A few of them had a bit of the paint rubbed off but I think they are from the 1950s or 1960s so considering that, they are in great shape! As you can see in the photo above, they are plain white on the inside of the plastic...

As you can see, they next together so well that I thought I'd only gotten three 'slices of cake' until I looked a bit more closely and there was the fourth piece nestled into one of the others!

I just think they are perfect... A lot of people in my doll groups make doll food from clay and I've tried to make some but have discovered that clay is just a tiny bit too messy and free form for my tastes. Not to mention, you go in thinking it's going to be an inexpensive project and four kinds of clay and two ruined projects later you realize it's not for you. Or something... Haha. So pre-made doll sized food is definately more my thing!

I tried to take some up close photos so you can see the cute details..

Then, to show you how wonderful it is that they can stack for storage, I've put it all in this Tupperware sandwich box I am going to store it in... Takes hardly any space at all and the Tupperware box will keep it safe and sound.

Speaking of the Tupperware sandwich box, I got it this last weekend at a garage sale for a $1.00! It's so cute! It has Hello Kitty on it! Fun! I got one with Cinderella on it as well... I bought them both specifically to store doll food! Haha.

There were several 'larger' food items too!

A loaf of bread...

A cake... (I think I might try and repaint this one because it looks a bit drab...)

A lobster!

And a turkey! Just in time for Thanksgiving next month! Fun!

So for the first 'meal' with the food, I decided on a menu of Ham slices, baked potatoes, asparagus bundles, Lobster, Mac&Cheese and cake for dessert. YummO! What a feast!

Isn't it just perfect? I love it!

So you'll have to keep your eyes open on eBay and at Thrift stores yourself and maybe you'll find some clever vintage play food to make a feast with your dollies too!

Till next time!

Susannah and Myfanwy Bake Frann and Diane a Birthday Cake!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

Birthdays abound in the Doll House! This weekend we celebrated two very important people in the Doll House!! Both Frann Doll and Diane Doll had birthdays this weekend and so a party was in order! To have a proper birthday party, you need some cake, right?

Luckily, in the Doll House, we have a resident baker! Susannah Doll loves to bake cakes and decorates them beautifully. So she was excited to get to work on cakes for Frann and Diane's birthday. She decided she should make two cakes so they'd each have their own special cake. Since she was in the kitchen, she also whipped up dozens of cupcakes for the party as well because, she says, they are just so much easier to serve.

Myfanwy loves to cook and, while baking is less her favorite thing than cooking savory dishes, she loves to lend a helping hand to her friends! So when Susannah said she'd make the cakes for the party, she insisted on helping! Aren't friends lovely? Susannah had already made a few cupcakes before Myfanwy arrived... See them under the pretty cupcake dome? Did I mention she loves to bake?

Here they are whipping up the cakes so they can go into the oven...

And Susannah is almost done frosting the second cake!

Just as they were finishing up LaQuela dropped by to get instructions to some mutual friends' houses and Myfanwy's van. They were coming to the party but needed a ride... LaQuela always likes to be helpful too and so she volunteered to go pick up everyone who needed a ride in Myfanwy's van. LaQuela was afraid her car was a bit too small for everyone!

She stayed for a quick cup of coffee and then was off to play Uber driver!

One of Susannah's favorite things about baking is that it's something you do in advance of events. So you get to enjoy the party along with everyone else... So it was nice to have the cakes done and kitchen cleaned up because the party was starting soon! LaQuela was so impressed with Susannah's beautiful cakes that she said "Maybe you can make my wedding cake someday!!" Susannah was humbled but also felt good to be appreciated.

Soon enough Diane and Frann arrived back from their walk... "Surprise!!! We made you cakes!!" Myfanwy said.

Frann and Diane had known that a Birthday Party was scheduled but no idea that Susannah and Myfanwy were going to make the cakes for it! They were so touched. The best gifts are ones that are personal like that, right?

So it was such a nice surprise!

When they found out that Susannah had made a special cake for each of them, they were even more impressed and touched. "You didn't have to do that! But we are so glad you did!" They both said because they both know how delicious Susannah's baked items are!

"We really hope you like them!"

"Of course we will! So will the guests! You are both too kind!!"

Myfanwy had one of the cakes in the Tupperware Cake taker Heather Doll owned. Heather Doll is a bit obsessed with Tupperware and this one of two such cake takers that she owns... Isn't it groovy? The handle makes it really easy for Myfanwy to hold all by herself....

"Thanks Myfanwy!!!" Diane had to give her a big hug...

Hugs all around!

Already Frann and Diane were enjoying their party and it was just getting started.

Heather Doll had gone to pull out the festive polka dot tea set from Dollar General to use for the party...

Frann and Susannah were catching up... Interestingly enough, Susannah knows a bit of Korean and so she was happy that Frann was letting her practice the bits she remembered. She'd learned Korean when she was younger in hopes of becoming an interpreter but unfortunately, while she was good at speaking it, she struggled with listening, translating and speaking while still listening... If that makes sense. Still, she enjoyed being able to use her second language a bit with someone who is fluent and also patient for her misprounciations occasionally... Heather Doll loved to listen to them speaking because she finds language so fascinating and was honestly a bit jealous of them both knowing two languages. Perhaps she'd have to study herself!

Frann was getting a cold drink for herself and Susannah from the fridge..

"Would anyone else like anything cold to drink?"

Meanwhile Myfanwy was opening the cake box... Isn't it such a lovely cake! Susannah does such a good job!

Diane came over to see if she needed any help.

The rest of the story of the party will have to come in the next post because I am out of time for now.... Stay tuned for next post of the Birthday Party!

Till next time!
