Style Girl Compared To Wellie Wisher Doll!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

Last week I heard about Big Lots having Style Girl 18inch and 14inch dolls and so I went in to the store to check them out.  I even bought an outfit to try out... On that day they asked me if I wanted to sign up for their 'club card' thing so they could send me special offers and I signed up because why not have offers of good deals, eh? So, low and behold, they emailed me a coupon for $5 off a purchase of $15 or more. Well, guess how much the 14inch glitter girls cost? That's right, $15! So,
I bought a 14" Style Girl Sunday since the coupon made her only $10. Her outfit was worth that, that unicorn! So cute!

Am really impressed at quality for cost! They are nearly identical to Wellie Wishers other than hair quality. Figured I'd show y'all how she was compared to a Wellie Wisher Doll from American Girl.

Here is the side of the box. Her name is Quinn although I am sure she won't keep that name...

There are three different 14inch Style Girls in the line, Quinn, Skylar and Piper. I won't lie, I mainly chose Quinn because her outfit was my favorite of the two they had at the store I went to...

Here are a few of my other 14inch (and 15inch) dolls standing with her so you can see how they all look side by side. From left to right there is Stephanie Doll (a 15inch vintage Battat Little Friend), Simone (a Heart for Hearts doll), Adilyn (Wellie Wisher) and Marley (A Melissa and Doug Doll)

Pretty simple box and only three ties to cut and she's out of the box!

Here she is!

And the back of her....

She is marked 'New Adventures' on the back of her neck.

I have to tell you I was kind of shocked at how similar they are!!

They have nearly identical feet both is size and shape...

See? You can barely tell, without knowing which was which, what doll's feet are the Wellies and which are the Style Girl's feet.

Their hand shape is exactly the same as best as I can tell.

I was also delighted at how 'heavy/ and 'sturdy' the Style Girl is... She's not exactly the same quality as the Wellie but honestly her arms, legs and hands are all a nice vinyl and her torso is made out of a sturdy, although harder, plastic. They really aren't all that much different when it comes to body shape.

They both have marks on their back about who they are.

The Style Girl has 'New Adventures' on her back.

And the Wellie has American Girl... (and a bunch of other writing... Kind of too much in my opinion but she's always wearing clothes so I guess it doesn't matter all that much... But way to write a novel on her back there AG?!

Here is Adilyn in the Style Girls outfit and the Style Girl wearing Wellie Wisher clothes. Perfect fits on both!

Here is the new Style Girl with some of her new sisters from the Doll House.

So, all in all, she's a pretty nifty little doll for a quarter of the cost of a Wellie Wisher. Obviously she can't be perfect... Her hair is rooted and like my 18 Inch Style Girl Isla, her hair is a bit on the thin and 'not too great' hair quality. I mean, it's workable but just not as thick and lovely as I like my Dolls Hair to be. So I am absolutely postive she is going to get new hair at some point in the future. I even already have a few wigs in her size on my watch list on eBay. I'm betting she'll end up with a rainbow type wig because I don't have any 14 inch dolls with 'fun' colored hair and now that I have several 18inch dolls with it, I need one, right!? She'll look adorable in a rainblow wig I think!

My recent obsession with 14inch dolls was sort of started by the recent release of Glitter Girls by Battat. I've stopped into Target at least 10 times in the last few weeks just checking to see if they'd made it to the shelves yet and no luck at all. I've also been searching online at Target and in Google... Well, I guess algorithms can sometimes be a good thing because this past weekend Amazon had a pop up and they are selling the Glitter Girls on Amazon!! So... I ordered two and an outfit and they actually arrived yesterday but it was church night and I didn't have much of a chance to look them over at all... So I'll be back soon to tell you all about them and show you which ones I got.

Better run!

Style Girl Isla Gets A New Look!

Hi Doll Friends!!
As I mentioned in my last post about Style Girls Dolls at Big Lots, I recently made-over a Style Girl doll I purchased at Aldi in 2013. She had rather thin hair and I have always known I wanted to re-wig her but just hadn't found the right wig... Untill...

I found a new wig seller on Amazon.com called STFantasy. I was super impressed by the quality of this wig! Just look at the box! So nice!!

It even had two little barrettes tucked in...

Here is Isla right after I tried on the wig... I loved it immediately!!

So off came her hair! As you can see from how far apart her hair was plugged, her hair was very thin... It was ok hair, just not much of it and you could alway see through to her scalp.

Here she is right after I glued on the wig...

And after I trimmed her bangs (be kind! I am not a hair stylist! LOL). Here she is modeling the Style Girl Outfit I found the other day at Big Lots. It was $7.00 and being as it comes with a pair of shoes, a handbag and hair band in addition to the cute top and leggings make it a pretty good deal I think.

Here she is with my other Style Girl Doll (on her left) Tina. She also has rather thin hair and will likely get a new 'do' someday when I find the right wig for her.

Here is Tina, Isla, Calla, Juliessa, David, Rain and Angela in Calla's Diner and Sweet Shoppe.

Better run!

A New Little Brother For The Doll House! A 14inch Wellie Wisher Sized Customized Boy!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

So... I recently found a Style Girl on clearance at Tuesday Morning... And... Well...

I couldn't help myself. I snatched her right up and brought her home because I had played with the idea of making a Wellie Wisher (or Glitter Girl sized) boy doll for the Doll House. LollylueStephens Doll Wigs has an adorable line of wigs for this size doll... In fact I've already customized dolls with them before. Both these custom dolls were made with thier Wellie Wisher sized wigs and so was the as of yet un-named Rainbow wig Style Girl.

I was pretty glad to get this doll too because I like her 'meet outfit' loads better than I liked the one that came on the other blonde Style Girl from Big Lot's.

I still haven't ever seen Melanie from this line... I imagine if I ever run across her I'll pick her up just because it'll be like finding a unicorn or something! Hahaha.

So here he is, my newest custom... Meet Giuseppe! That is Italian for Joseph and so the nickname my husbands Mom had for his brother... Who happens to have blue eyes and dark brown hair. Perfect!

He also looks a little bit like Tom Cruise, eh? Those eyes!

So since I named him Giuseppe I think I'll name her something similar since they are fraternal twins. So her name will be Gabriella because I've always loved that name and since it means "God is my strength" too.

Gabriella and Giuseppe!

Here is Giuseppe and Emerson so you can see what a great brother he will make to the Wellie Wisher dolls.

Since Cat Doll had on Nanea's meet outfit, she was perfectly dressed to take the three of them to the beach for photos! Aren't they cute?

Better run!

Dollar General $6.00 18inch Doll Review

Greetings Doll Friends!

Just got photos taken and uploaded... Will have to come write more detail later of course! I got this beauty for $6 at Dollar General. HAD to buy her just to tell y'all about her, right? Was just going to open box and take close ups of her and close her back up till after Christmas. Until I opened her and realized she has an all plastic body??!? What?? So then I was so curious about her myself I had to take her out and check her out myself. She is so interesting! Her face looks a lot like the Style Girl dolls I got at Aldi two years ago at Christmas time. I'll find a link to that post and post it here later. All in all I think this is a lovely little doll. She isn't for everyone though. She is a lot like, her body anyway, the cheap "fashion doll" Barbie knockoffs you get at dollar stores. The arms and legs are hard plastic and torso is a bit softer. I don't think she'd stand up to too much real play but she has the distinction of being one of the only 18" play dolls that could maybe live through a "swim" in the tub or pool. Although I wouldn't recommend it because water would probably get inside her body itself. One thing that really surprised me was the quality and thickness of her hair. It's lovely! It's more densely rooted than Springfield dolls and the hair is really soft and pretty. Her outfit is ok... Nothing to write home about but I've seen worse. Ok, sorry for abbreviated review but I have to get moving to get ready for church!

Have a fabulous day!

**UPDATED 12/15/15**

Hi again Doll Friends!!

Finally getting back here to write in this review! I tell you, life is keeping me too busy to play dolls as much as I would like. Here we go.....!

Here she is in the box!

Her face is so pretty, I thought, at first, she was actually a 'Style Girl' because her face mold is the same. You can read about when I got my Style Girls in my Meet and Greet Post that I really need to update because my doll collection has exploded in the last two years... But I digress. You can also read more about my 'Style Girls' in post I just wrote about some doll clothes from that line of dolls I found at the store Tuesday Morning.

Here she is with the box open and no glare over her pretty face.

I love that she has brown eyes and dark hair, wholly different than my Style girls!

She was super easy to get out of the box! Only four twist ties and she was out.

Here are the other dolls available in her line on the sides of the box. They all look very cute.

Here is the back of the box.

And the other side...

The bottom of the box.

And she's out of the box! Honestly, I hadn't planned on taking her out! Only planned to photograph her still attached until...

I discovered she has an all plastic body?!? What?!?!

She seems to stand pretty well on her own.

Her face is just so pretty!

The clothes, considering the price point, seem to be pretty well made...

The little 'shrug' is removable and leaves you with this cute little dress. So, two looks!

She comes with white undies. I like when dolls come with proper undergarments!

***NUDE DOLL PHOTOS WARNING!!***
(Because it seriously bugs some people apparently!)

Here she is in her undies...

And with them off.

As I said, she is all plastic... Almost like the 'cheap' Barbie knockoff's from the dollar store when I was a kid. Her arms are hard plastic and her torso is more' soft. As you can see, I can press in on her tummy and it goes in.

But look how cute!! She has a belly button!!!

She is a very 'light' doll, in that her body isn't heavy at all. I think she'd probably stand up to play pretty well, those old school plastic body type dolls always seemed to when I was a kid. As a bonus, she could wear a bikini and show off her cute little belly button!

Here is the mark on the back of her neck.

This is one thing that really surprised me, the quality and quantity of her hair! It's really quite nice, especially considering the price point of this doll. It's very soft and thickly plugged and all in all, some of the nicer doll hair I've seen on an 'inexpensive' doll.

I took several photos to try and capture how pretty it is and how densely plugged... Not sure if it comes across well but she suffice to say they did a great job on the hair!

Her feet are smaller than standard 18" doll feet like AG and OG. Her shoes were cute and made out of sturdy plastic.

She sits like a lot of dolls do, all spread eagle, but she can sit up on her own.

All in all, my opinion is that if you see one a Dollar General, snap it up! They'd be a fantastic gift for a little girl looking to expand her 'cast' of dolls to play with. She's a bit different than many 18inch dolls and obviously not as nice as ones that cost ten times as much, but for what I paid, she is fantastic!!

I wanted to show you the 'flaw' I found on her eyeball... Just looks like glue got on it and it may clean off once I take her back out of the box after Christmas but it's how she came and, this being a review, I thought I'd mention it.

Out of order photo! Again though, look at that great hair!

Here you can see it. In her left eye (from her vantage point) she has some 'spots' on her eye. They aren't noticable unless the light falls just right...

She also had a little 'dot' on her cheek. My Style Girl Isla (see below) has a similar glue dot. I've alwasy thought it looked like a tear on her cheek.

And she's back in the box! Until Christmas!! Which is now TEN DAYS AWAY!?! What?!?! How is that possible?

Here are photos of my dolls from Aldi two years ago. They have exact same face mold as this doll but body types like more standard 18" dolls, with soft bodies and pose able arms and legs.

Aren't they pretty?
I'll be back to write the "written" portion of review as soon as possible! Life just keeps me too busy to play dolls as much as I'd like!!
