The Good Book

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

In case you haven't read my bio or prior blog posts, you may not know that I am a pretty big Jesus Groupie. I love Jesus. He saved my life. If you're interested in what I mean by that, despite it making me nervous to do so, I'll post a linky here of my testimony. Why nervous? Well, because it's some stuff that is totally not doll related and kind of a mess. However, it's not my place to say how God uses my story, right? Since it's been posted there for years, it's not like it's hard to find eitherwise. Eh? So, naturally, since I became a Christian again, the Bible came alive to me... My favorite Gospel is John... I love how he talks!

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it."

I've read the Bible twice now all the way through (The One Year Bible, it's totally do-able!) and done numerous studies. I only bring this up because that can only be God! I've never been a studier in my whole life. Haha. The first thing I do in the morning, before yoga, before coffee, before my quiet time to blog (like I am right now) I read my devotional and portion of the The One Year Bible. I plan to read it through every year until God calls me home... Since it is such a huge and wonderful part of my life, it only makes sense that I do a post about quiet devotional Bible Study time for the Dolls, right?

One thing you learn when you read the Bible is that Jesus Himself often went off to be alone with Father God. I've found it's the only way to really 'hear His voice' consistently is to make that time alone with Him. I may not get some deep booming voice from the sky but I never walk away from my quiet time with Him without having some good come from it...

I've posted before about Life Group at the Dollhouse because that's important too... Talking about it all with friends and having a church family. I have been playing with the idea of setting up a church service at the Doll House... I just need to figure out which doll would be the preacher. Haha.

So, if you've never heard the Good News, I highly recommend reading the Gospel. It's only four pretty short books and I guarantee, if you let it, it will change your life. I don't mean to put you off if you're stumbled into this blog and 'Jesus talk' makes you uncomfortable. It did me for a long time too... Once I finally let it sink into me, well, I can't help but talk about Jesus... Because, as I said, He saved my life.

May God Bless you today.
Till Next Time,

  1. Thank you, Heather, for sharing your testimony. I nearly cried as I read it, my heart aching for all the horrible things you had to endure as a child. But what a wonderful story you have to tell now, of a redeemer who has changed your world upside down! That is the best kind of story of all. I am a Christian and was raised in a Christian home with parents who loved me and provided everything I needed. So sometimes, I get a little "lazy" in my faith--don't read my Bible as often as I should, or don't put God first in my daily walk. Thank you for gently reminding me what is truly important.

    1. Hi Angela! Thanks so much. Jesus did turn my world upside down but in all the best ways as you know. I wrote out the testimony for a Womans Retreat a couple of years ago. It was actually AT that retreat that God very distinctly told me to "Write." (That's all He gave me just then and I was like "Write WHATnd ?") So I started back in earnest writing THIS blog and He has, in His faithfulness, shown me He can work His purposes into everything... Even a little Doll Blog. I ended up meeting a cherished friend from around the world that I'd never have 'met' if not for writing here and now I have met you too. God is good!
