Sewing Lately... Still Teaching (Reminding) Myself How To Sew....

Doll Friends!

Am always behind on everything recently...
Perhaps because I have become somewhat obsessed with sewing for dolls!
I wanted to show you what I've been up to but literally only have a minute here...

I decided it was time to try 'actual' bodices...

I found all this fabric for really great prices! Those Halloween prints (a yard each) were only $1.00!

I made the cherry top.... It's reversable... :)

Dresses I am working on... They are almost done... Still need velcro...

More of the reversable sleeveless bodices I made recently out of 'scrap' material I had from making the dresses above them... :)

I thought this would result in a cute A-line dress...

But it actually turned out more like a long top or vest that fit most perfectly on Journey Girls...

So I tried a different pattern with same idea...

I liked how it turned out so I decided to try a 'mass production'....
I realized I could get a bodice out of the material I got on Amazon I talked about in this post...
I actually bought a second package and was correct, they are all the same so now I have double the amount of cloth in each print! Woot!
They are still being worked on right now...

But the skirts I made the other day now have matching vests/tops...

I am playing with idea of not putting closures on these vest/tops... Cos they look cute as a vest... and...

Also look cute as a top (on left) with the back just held closed by the skirt elastic....
What do ya'll think? Which would you like better?

The reverse side of this one (No the orange fabrics are not identical... but close enough to look cute and make a close match...)

Here's the reverse of this one...

These were actually the first bodices I tried.... I made them into these dresses... This was like a month ago... Time flies!

Here are the dresses (the two on left) I made them into. They will be terrific when Independence Day rolls around again!

Here is the box I have of things I am accumulating to start my Etsy store... I'm getting there... I want to start it with at least 30+ items....

I have to run!
Have a great weekend!

Boy Story 18 Inch Doll Find On eBay! Meet Bart!

Hi Doll Friends,

I got a new doll last week and am just now getting here to tell you about him... I know I keep saying so but I am sorry for my sporadic posting the last month-ish. I can't really account for it other than to say that I feel like I got behind and have been in a tail-spin ever since then...
Nothing to do but try and catch up, eh?

So the Boy Story Doll is a doll I read about a while ago but they were kind of expensive and they kind fo fell off my radar... I also wasnt sure about their 'molded' hair...? A few months ago I saw one somewhere (in a posting on a doll blog? Instagram? I can't remember?). So I looked them up and was sad to see that they'd been given a safety recall and as best as I can tell, they are not in production anymore. I put them on my eBay watch list and kind of forgot about them...

Until... One came up for only $25 starting bid (plus $15 shipping)... So I threw in a minimum bid (cos I really shouldn't be buying dolls... heehee) and was kind of shocked when I won the auction for only $25!

So here he is!

He came in a really nice box! Seriously one of the nicest doll boxes I've ever seen! It opens like a book sort of... I'm sure I'll store doll stuff in it.

Here is the inside 'cover' of the box...

Here is the back of the box. I don't really like politics mixed with my dolls and so I am just going to let it speak for itself. Eh...?

Here he is in the box...

He has jointed knees! It'll be interesting to see how he poses!!

He's got jointed wrists too!

I love that he has snaps on his shirt and not velcro.

I was surprised to find that this fella was a numbered doll of only 3,000? Who knew?!

Here he is with just his tighty-whiteys on... They made me laugh by the way. He has jointed elbows as well!

I like the sculpt of his feet!

Here is his tag.

His leg joints look like most standard 18inch dolls.

Here he is as I envisioned him when I decided I wanted to add him to my collection...
Isn't he great!?

Better run!
