Battat Glitter Girls Eline Arrived At The Doll House!

Look who arrived on Tuesday? Eline, a Glitter Girl from Battat! She's so pretty! 

 I only ended up with three photos of her in the box before I took her out... Ooops. I grabbed her up early Wednesday morning on my way out the door to Bible Study hoping to get some photos at a pretty park on the way home... 

So these are all I have of her in her box. I'll have to take a photo of the box later because it has a new photo of the new line of Glitter Girls on it. 

One of her braids came loose when I unboxed her so... She has her hair down in these photos. As with the other Glitter Girls I own, I think she's fabulous. 

I brought along Brittany and Brooklyn for photos too...

I had a dickens of a time trying to get the smaller girls to stand up for the photo because it was windy out... And hot... And buggy... So... Mostly I ended up photographing Brooklyn because she stands like a dream.

Battat Glitter Girls Dolls Have New Girls! New Clothes Too!

Doll Friends!!

Being in many Facebook Doll Groups... I tend to see things that come on the market almost immediately because some member of one group or another will find the new item and post it to the group. Over the last 24 hours or so, I started seeing this little freckled red-headed Glitter Girl in photos... What?! I thought I'd seen all the new style Glitter Girls already... I've even bought two of them. Teehee. But then I see this girl. So, knowing it was only a matter of time until someone shared a useful link to buy said dolls, I kept my eyes open. Sure enough, early this morning, links appeared from one of my sweet Doll-Loving-Sisterhood people and this little lady is on her way to the Doll House Village!

For whatever reason, these four new-new style Glitter Girls are 95cents more expensive than the other Glitter Girls on Amazon. Weird. Whatever, I am not gonna let a buck get between me and a cute new doll. LOL! 

This is another one that I hadn't seen before named Kani. I can't decide what I think of her eyebrows...? She's probably on fleek to some people but I think she looks a bit 'shocked'? What do you think?

This little gal is adorable... I thought I'd 'screen shot' her 'close up' photo too but alas I apparently forgot to? My phone is currently so dead it's in the red and on the charger so... This photo will have to suffice for now. I love love love her little outfit too!

I don't know how I am going to keep from buying this little gal... Her outfit makes very her tempting! I try not to be too repetitious in my Doll Population in the Doll House Village and I already have a few GG's with blonde hair and blue eyes though so.... Hmmm....

I am super excited to find that they are bringing out new clothes too! I thought they'd just revamped their dolls and were going to keep the clothes the same..... But.... Check these out:

This is the first one I am going to buy when I get more Doll Mad Money next month... Yeah... That's right... Next month. Because with the purchase of the freckled beauty above I wiped out every single cent of my September money. Hahaha. It's not even the 15th. Oh well... I am quite behind in coming here to tell you about all the stuff I've blown through my money on so... (I could probably blog for a solid month on stuff I need to tell you about that is on my 'mental to do' list. Never enough time... LOL!)

I have a weakness for equestrian themed outfits!

Let's get real though Doll Friends... You know I am going to end up getting all these sets at some point. I have a booming 14inch Doll Population that needs stylish clothes! 

Oh the windbreaker! SO CUTE!! Love the boots too! They have a yellow pair from the old sets like them and it's one of my favs!

More clear jellies in this set. I bought two of the last set that had clear jellies mostly for the clear jellies... LOL

More PJs... Awesome... They need to make a swim suit set! Yeah, that's right Battat Company, if you stumble across this post: Swim Suits are needed!! 

Looks like you can still get all the older style clothes too so... That's good. They had some really cute ensembles!

Glitter Girls By Battat Arrive At The Doll House!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

Ever since I recently saw the Glitter Girls on American Girl Ideas YouTube I've wanted to buy one (or two) to check them out. She says on the video that they should be arriving at Target by early November but I've seen several postings in my Doll Groups on Facebook where people had found them in stores as long ago as a couple of weeks. So, naturally, every time I happened to be within a few minutes drive of a Target, I compulsively went in to see if they had any in. And nothing. For weeks. At multiple Targets. Even at Target.com. Nothing. How annoying. (I know, first world problems but... still.... annoying...) Luckily, all my fruitless searching apparently triggered some manner of algorithm in my computer because suddenly last week I have a pop up saying "Looking for 14inch dolls?" with a picture of one of the Glitter Girls. What? It was a pop up from Amazon? As far as I knew, Glitter Girls, like Our Generation Dolls who are also produced by Battat, were to be exclusively sold at Target..? Right? Still, I clicked on the linky and low and behold...!! Amazon had all the Glitter Girls and all their adorable accessories right there, ready to buy whatever I wanted! Gadzooks! Lucky for me, my Birthday is coming and I had already received a bit of Birthday money and also luckily for me, the adorable Glitter Girls were only $19.99 each!! Sweet!! 

I had already decided which of the Glitter Girls I wanted first (most? LOL But honestly for $19.99, lets get real... I knew I'd get more than one...) should I happen to find them in the store. So, having the pick of any of them that I wanted, I naturally picked up my favorite two of the selection. 

Meet Fifer and Keltie. I am not sure if they will keep those names or not... Likely not... But as of now, they haven't been re-named. I kind of like the unusualness of their names so who knows, maybe I'll break with my usual tradition of re-naming them? What are your thoughts on this? Do you re-name your dolls that come with names? I don't always... My Maplelea Dolls both kept their names for instance. They both came with a long book all about them and so it seemed wrong to re-name them. Anyway, I'd love to hear your thoughts on it in comments if you have time.  

The most beautiful bit being that it's Amazon and I am naturally a Prime member (we live in a small town and so like half our purchases are delivered from Amazon... I digress...) so not only was the entire selection available, shipping was free!! Woot! I should write an email to Battat to let them know if they put Our Generations on Amazon I'd never set another foot in a Target for the rest of my days... Teehee. They've never really been a favorite store, sort of a snobby Walmart with red everything instead of blue but not much else different... But I digress... Again... Since they are only $19.99 and I didn't have to worry about shipping costs, I was able to get two dolls and an outfit with my Birthday money! Nice!! 

So here they are at Calla's Diner with Adilyn. They are exactly the same size and will be able to share clothes pefectly!

Here they are later, after they'd changed clothes... They are hanging it the doll bedroom with Saige.

I think they are so pretty and well made! Well done Battat!

I am sure I will get more in the future although I probably have way too many dolls... They are just so adorable though and the price is lovely!!

Vintage 1998 Shopko Battat Doll Garage Sale Find

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

I went to a Garage Sale Saturday and there at a sale, mixed in with like 10 porcelain dolls was an old school Shopko Battat doll new in its box!! She was asking $10 but accepted $8 since it was like 2pm on last day of sale. I knew exactly what I was going to do with the doll!

I bought this fantasy boy wig a while ago with no particular doll in mind... I just thought it was cute and suspect that the Muzi Wigs on Amazon will not be as inexpensive as they are indefinately. After I bought my first one for Sasha I put a review good review on it and the price almost immedately went up. Funny! So I imagine the current prices will last until they get a bit of good feedback and then will all go up. So, I bought a couple of them. Teehee. 

So when I saw this doll, knew the wig would be perfect! 

I honestly had no idea that Battat ever made an 18inch doll for Shopko?! I guess I kind of assumed that all the Battat 18inch dolls had always been sold at Target. So when I found this one that was clearly marked as a Shopko doll, I was intrigued and, of course, Googled it. Apparently there were two sorts of 18" Battat dolls sold at Shopko in the late 1990s. There was this sort, the "Autumn Harvest" kind and there were also some called Collector's Lane . They even, apparently, had Mini Collector's Lane Kids dolls. too. Fun! 

The box was in good shape for being about 20 years old. It was very simple with only illustrations of a vicotrian looking house with a leaf in the middle talking about the dolls.

Here is the doll out of the outer box. The outfit seems very top notch and was probably worth every cent of the $8 I paid for the doll. See why I can never pass them up?? Teehee. 

I could tell strait off that the wig was not good quality. I have found other vintage Battat dolls  and both  I've removed the wig from and they were both dreadful wigs that were nearly impossible to pry off. 

Being as these dolls retailed for about $30 in 1998, if I am reading the information on them correctly, I think they must've put all the money of production into the doll and the outfit. So, naturally they had to scrimp on the wig. Kind of like the Heidi Ott Faithful Friends dolls I have found in the past. I digress...

Interesting note of warning. Eh?

I could tell I was in for the oh-so-fun 'hair sewn to the plastic' like some modern dolls.

I knew I'd planned to remove the wig but since I also wanted to show ya'll the doll as she came out of the box, I went about removing her hair from the plastic like I planned to keep her hair. 

She had this tag on her wrist. Apparently there was a Jill, this Cindy and a Susan in the line. 

See? Right out fo the box the wig looks pretty bad!! See the frizzy tangled mess underneath!

The cute little backpack was sewn to her outfit.

Did I mention the outfit was great? That was before I realized how great. The pockets on the cute little sweater are real, as are the buttons. The little skirt is made of corduroy in red with a perfectly matched mock turtleneck top. Very cute!

I was surprised to see that, under the cute outfit was some pretty well made underwear, both panties and a tank top. Sweet! These little white tops often work well for boy dolls with a pair of shorts or something. So nice to have another one.

Here she is... About to have her wig removed. 

Look at that! The wig was partly stuck to the neck. Very poorly done. Which was nice because it meant that I didn't have a moments pause in removing the wig. 

I just sort of pulled at the edge of the wig to see if it was, like, superglued on the way of all the other vintage wigged Battat dolls have been. I have literally just cut all the hair off all but the first one and haven't even tried to pry them off because they are extremely hard to remove!! I've just glued the wig over the wig cap after I cut off the hair. So I was really surprised when the edge of the wig gave way pretty easily... So I started pulling it off and was able to pull it off without even using nail polish remover or anything. Nice! 

I forgot to get much of a photo of the wig before I put it on. It came packaged in a plastic bag with a carboard sleeve around it to make sure the wig doesn't get squished. Aren't the colors nice!

I loved him right away! I have a few fantasy girls, Prism and Spectrum and so I needed a boy! I haven't decided on a name for him yet... When I look at him I think of anime boy with white hair and it makes me smile. Two of my favorite comic book characters of all time are Cutter and Skywise from Elf Quest and they both have white hair. I realize this little fella has brown eyes and not blue but I think he might be named Skywise Cutter anyway just because I like it. It kind of matches Prism and Spectrum's names.  

I think he's adorable.

Here he is with the old wig. I don't even think I'll save it for a forlorn looking thrift store doll... It just needs to be thrown away!

Here is Skywise with Becky, another vintage Battat I own. She was made after they began to give them plugged hair and it's actually pretty nice. 

I thought I had several of the Autumn Harvest doll's face sculpt already but when I got home to compare, nope. It's a different one than I have ever seen?

I also have this fella Hector who is also an older Battat but again, a different face sculpt. So, it's fun to have the new one in my collection
