Thrifting Last Weekend And Two 'New' Dolls Come Home to Doll House!

Hi Doll Friends!

I went to a concert last weekend and since I was in the large city it was located in, I naturally went to check out a local thrift store! I was kind of looking for a doll to use to do a doll body transplant. So... I found several dolls at that store. On the other hand, I wanted to limit myself to not buying more than two cos I'm trying to keep my doll collection from getting me on the Hoarders show being too much for my doll space

This is one of the two I bought. I honestly have decided I don't think I'll be able to make myself use her for a body transplant afterall... I picked her because her body was in perfect shape because she'd literally never had her 'meet outfit' removed. I can tell because it was still stitched on to her body.

Not to mention she was $2.99!

See, there is the stitch that was holding on her original meet outfit...

She had a mark on her nose and a mark on the top of her lip and her hair was a total mess... So at the store I was thinking I'd be ok with using her as a body transplant doll.

However, after getting her home and looking her over... I'm thinking I won't be able to make myself use her as a body donor. She's just so pretty. I cleaned up her hair... However, I have a doll that's nearly identical in my collection (*warning*, that post is pretty dark cos it was from one of the darkest times in my life but that's when I got that doll so I posted the link) so I'm thinking that, instead of her being a body donor, she will instead be getting a wig in a different color to make her a 'custom' doll. I haven't made any custom dolls with this face sculpt yet and since she was so inexpensive and I'd bought her to be a body donor, I figure a good compromise would be to make her into a customized doll. I haven't gotten the mark off her nose and lip yet but I only tried with a baby wipe (thinking her head was coming off at first I didn't put a whole lot of effort in). So I think I'll work on her with a magic-eraser and see if I can get the marks off.

Isn't she so pretty? I love her freckles.

At the same thrift store I saw this 18inch doll I'd never seen before. She had 'mold spots' on her face (or I think that is what they are!) and so I didn't pick her up because I haven't found a satisfactory way to remove spots like that. I don't want to bring a doll that has 'mold' on her into my doll room... Don't want that to spread for sure.

EDIT: Found her! She's a Ameritus Girl Doll apparently. Or as best as I can tell that is the brand.

It's a shame really because she is pretty cute.

Here is the mark on the back of her neck... I plan to try and research her when I get some spare time... Wait, I'll be back with that in 2034 or something if that is the case...
How about when I create some spare time? You know what I mean?

She had a soft body like American Girl and Our Generation Dolls.

At the same thrift I saw these two cute home made dolls... I used to get fabric panel ready to sew dolls or stuffed animals like this when I was little bitty and make them with my Granny every summer. It is what taught me how to sew really, those projects. So it was fun to see them. I was even able to find one of these very same ones, unsewn, on eBay. I don't know if they even make them anymore? So few people sew anymore. I digress...

These were the other 18inch dolls I had to choose from for my body transplant donor. In hindsight I regret not buying one of two the Our Generation Dolls on the left. However, they both had the 'older' Our Generation sculpt and ever since OG introduced the newer sculpt they stopped making the older sculpt and so I just didn't have the heart to take one of them apart. I should've just done it. *sigh* Oh well... Hopefully they both went home with a little girl who'll love them just as they are. Did I mention that I was going to limit myself to two dolls? Well that Journey Girl doll on the right hand side also went into my cart and came home with me. She was $4.99. I haven't cleaned her up yet because I haven't had the time. I actually have a few Kelsey's in my collection already... One of them has a deeper auburn hair and one has a brighter red hair, the third was made over into Gasper who you can see in this old post about my Journey Girl Collection once upon a time. (It's grown and changed since then... Teehee) This one seems to have never had her hair removed from the original bands she came in. So I'm not sure what her future will be? Will I re-wig her since I already have a couple of her look-alikes in my collection? Keep her hair as is and re-wig one I already owned? Not sure. I'll come back and let you know as soon as I decide.

I better run!

Cute Doll Shoe Score From Super Organized Thrift Store

Hi Doll Friends,

Just a super quick post to show you the cute shoe score I got from probably the most organized thrift store ever... There were other doll items too (see below) but I was good and only let myself buy the shoe three pack (see above). I love the roller skates and boots so much! Have you found anything at the thrift lately? Let me know in the comments below!

Thrifting Lately; What I Left Behind and What I Brought Home!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

I generally pop into my two favorite thrift stores every time I head into town when I go in for other errands or appointments. So this post is to catch you up on things that I've seen while out... Mind you, this is over several months, so keep that in mind because to have seen all this at one time at one thrift store on one day would've been out of this world.

As you can see above, I saw this gorgeous Journey Girl Doll but... Given that I have way way too many dolls at this point and have about three Journey Girl Kelsey's in my collection at this point. Seeing the photo right now, I am having a tiny bit of regret because she's so pretty and had such a great outfit on but I'm sure some other lucky doll collector found her and was just as thrilled to get her as I might have been should I not have so many dolls already.

I very often see Doll Horses... I don't really have room to store them anymore though so they always stay at the store. Maybe someday I'll have more room for such things again but as it is, I just don't have the room. I'm also trying to stay off the Hoarding show too! Hahaha.

These two little dolls (above) were so cute and while they aren't the type I collect I just had to snap a photo because they made me smile.

Oh my goodness it was hard to resist buying these two lovely ladies. The one on the right has the beautiful recent sculpt from Our Generation but... again, I have more than a few of that sculpt in my collection already and I only have so much room. Then there is the City Pals 14 inch doll... It was hard to resist buying her because I don't know if they will ever be released again. However, I already own every one of them that was released and... well... I only have so much room...

You can also see that she had a hole in her cloth body... I could've mended her but...
Only so much time and so much room and I have more than a few dolls awaiting makeovers in my Doll House already!

This doll was in her original meet outfit... It always surprises me so much when I see a doll that's never even been changed out of her meet outfit! I imagine it is when a doll is gifted to a girl who just isn't into dolls all that much.... What?! But I guess that's a thing.
Hahaha.

Again...
This doll was so hard to pass up... She, again, has that gorgeous new sculpt... But again, I have loads of this sculpt already.

Holy moly... This day that I went it was crazy how many 18inch dolls there were!!

This is the My Life As Doll Washer and Dryer set... Again... NO more room!!

Another scooter... I love the colors on this one, purple and orange! I love when they don't make every single doll thing PINK.

I love the little lockers but this one had fur on it and... Well, thats kind of weird.

Another horse...

This doll made me smile! I had her when I was a girl... She is a My Baby Beth, a Fisher Price Doll. I had to take her photo so I could show her to ya'll.

This was tempting because it was an actual American Girl Doll Salon Chair

Sadly it was broken. It was super heavy and just so cool... But, broken.

Yet another horse...

Dolls dolls dolls!!

These were porcelain dolls, not my thing at all but so unusual that I had to show them to you!

Pretty cute face sculpts!!

Now.... For what I have bought...?

I bought this bag of cute sheep... It'll be great for Becky's Barn or to go with Charlsea's pets for photos someday...

Oops, this is out of order, I didn't buy her... Cute outfit though! I almost did!

Now this one is one I did buy and one I didn't. I didn't buy the little dresser but I did buy the doll! She's an older version of Our Generation Doll that I don't think I have her face sculpt in my doll collection and so I couldn't resist! I'll hope to get her cleaned up and give you a better look at her soon!

This I couldn't resist! I plan to hang it in the Doll Room! It makes me smile every time i look at it... I love that they are praying, that they are a doll with a photo of a 'real' girl' in background. It reminds me of Dare Wright's photos!

Lastly I had to buy this little tea set. It only had one cup but the shape of them was too unique to leave them there. Can't wait to set up a Tea Party to put them in the photos!

That's it for now sweet Doll Friends!
