I'm A Wow 14inch Dolls By I'm A Girly Dolls Found On eBay!

Hi Doll Friends!

So I have certain searches saved in eBay... One of them is for I'm A Girly dolls. Well, low and behold I was on eBay shopping doing research and what should come up but this doll by that company called I'm A Wow Doll. What?! One of them was very affordable and before I knew it, she was on the way home to the Doll House. Honestly, I didn't realize until she arrived that she was a 14 inch doll, I initially thought she was one of the 18 inch dolls but with different hair. I was actually delighted to find that she was a 14 inch doll because I felt a bit crazy for ordering yet another of the 18 inch variety. Hahaha. I'm so happy to have her because she is gorgeous!! I'd say her quality is on par with Wellie Wishers and Glitter Girls and she will be able to wear their clothes and shoes as well.

I haven't had a chance to test this but apparently when she is put out in sunlight her hair changes color. I hope to get her out in the sun soon to test that out. I'll post photos when I do.

Here she is with a Melissa and Doug and a Wellie Wisher doll for a comparison. Aren't they all so pretty. She fits right in!

Better run!

Thrifting Last Weekend And Two 'New' Dolls Come Home to Doll House!

Hi Doll Friends!

I went to a concert last weekend and since I was in the large city it was located in, I naturally went to check out a local thrift store! I was kind of looking for a doll to use to do a doll body transplant. So... I found several dolls at that store. On the other hand, I wanted to limit myself to not buying more than two cos I'm trying to keep my doll collection from getting me on the Hoarders show being too much for my doll space

This is one of the two I bought. I honestly have decided I don't think I'll be able to make myself use her for a body transplant afterall... I picked her because her body was in perfect shape because she'd literally never had her 'meet outfit' removed. I can tell because it was still stitched on to her body.

Not to mention she was $2.99!

See, there is the stitch that was holding on her original meet outfit...

She had a mark on her nose and a mark on the top of her lip and her hair was a total mess... So at the store I was thinking I'd be ok with using her as a body transplant doll.

However, after getting her home and looking her over... I'm thinking I won't be able to make myself use her as a body donor. She's just so pretty. I cleaned up her hair... However, I have a doll that's nearly identical in my collection (*warning*, that post is pretty dark cos it was from one of the darkest times in my life but that's when I got that doll so I posted the link) so I'm thinking that, instead of her being a body donor, she will instead be getting a wig in a different color to make her a 'custom' doll. I haven't made any custom dolls with this face sculpt yet and since she was so inexpensive and I'd bought her to be a body donor, I figure a good compromise would be to make her into a customized doll. I haven't gotten the mark off her nose and lip yet but I only tried with a baby wipe (thinking her head was coming off at first I didn't put a whole lot of effort in). So I think I'll work on her with a magic-eraser and see if I can get the marks off.

Isn't she so pretty? I love her freckles.

At the same thrift store I saw this 18inch doll I'd never seen before. She had 'mold spots' on her face (or I think that is what they are!) and so I didn't pick her up because I haven't found a satisfactory way to remove spots like that. I don't want to bring a doll that has 'mold' on her into my doll room... Don't want that to spread for sure.

EDIT: Found her! She's a Ameritus Girl Doll apparently. Or as best as I can tell that is the brand.

It's a shame really because she is pretty cute.

Here is the mark on the back of her neck... I plan to try and research her when I get some spare time... Wait, I'll be back with that in 2034 or something if that is the case...
How about when I create some spare time? You know what I mean?

She had a soft body like American Girl and Our Generation Dolls.

At the same thrift I saw these two cute home made dolls... I used to get fabric panel ready to sew dolls or stuffed animals like this when I was little bitty and make them with my Granny every summer. It is what taught me how to sew really, those projects. So it was fun to see them. I was even able to find one of these very same ones, unsewn, on eBay. I don't know if they even make them anymore? So few people sew anymore. I digress...

These were the other 18inch dolls I had to choose from for my body transplant donor. In hindsight I regret not buying one of two the Our Generation Dolls on the left. However, they both had the 'older' Our Generation sculpt and ever since OG introduced the newer sculpt they stopped making the older sculpt and so I just didn't have the heart to take one of them apart. I should've just done it. *sigh* Oh well... Hopefully they both went home with a little girl who'll love them just as they are. Did I mention that I was going to limit myself to two dolls? Well that Journey Girl doll on the right hand side also went into my cart and came home with me. She was $4.99. I haven't cleaned her up yet because I haven't had the time. I actually have a few Kelsey's in my collection already... One of them has a deeper auburn hair and one has a brighter red hair, the third was made over into Gasper who you can see in this old post about my Journey Girl Collection once upon a time. (It's grown and changed since then... Teehee) This one seems to have never had her hair removed from the original bands she came in. So I'm not sure what her future will be? Will I re-wig her since I already have a couple of her look-alikes in my collection? Keep her hair as is and re-wig one I already owned? Not sure. I'll come back and let you know as soon as I decide.

I better run!

Doll Room Progress Report and Photos

Hi Doll Friends,

It's been a while since I came and posted about my doll room... Likely because I haven't had a lot of time to put it together much less take photos. However, this past weekend I had an open morning and decided to get in there and do some organizing and took some photos. The panoramic photo above is of the whole space essentially... Then there are detail photos below.

I've been trying to group all the doll 'brands' together. I have more of some brands than others obviously... I think Our Generation is likely the brand I have the most of.

I used the little hooks that came with the metal storage bin shelving units to hang the dolls dolls on. I think it'll work like a charm.

As you can see, I have quite a few dolls awaiting a make-over... Never enough time! Haha. So, I got some progress made but still have quite a ways to go before I have it put together as well as I'd like. I still have some stuff in storage I need to bring home but I wanted to organize as I went.

Better run!
