Dolls Visit Becky's Barn!!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

Recently some livestock arrived at the Doll House Village! Yes indeed, we got a calf named Patches, some sheep named Kam and Loops and a goat named Empress. They are so adorable! I also recently got this fabulous "Riding in Style" Our Generation equestrian outfit for my doll Becky... So naturally I had to put them all together and show you Becky's Barn! 

I actually posted the video Visiting Becky's Barn YouTube like a week ago... I am just getting this blog post written and out of drafts today, a week and a day later. There are many different aspects to blogging and sometimes they don't all come together in as timely manner as I'd like. *sigh* Oh well, it's that that keeps me chomping at the bit and continually doing 'just a little something' doll during nearly all my free time. Even when I am watching something (like a movie or a YouTube) I will bring a doll or five to the couch with me and change their clothes and style their hair. So I probably have about five blog posts always actively being worked on at any given moment... I am rambling. Back to Becky's Barn!

So I used a couple of different backdrops together to make the walls and stalls of the barn. I think that they worked out perfectly! With the American Girl Doll stable and the many horses and ponies I've found in the last few years, it looked pretty realistic! So much fun!

Here is Mia Sara with her beloved horse Cocoa.

Udderly Adorable Calf By Maplelea Joins the Doll Barn!

Doll Friends!

Aaaaaand... We have livestock in the Doll House Village Barn! Yeah... I got a windfall of money and I may or may not have gone a bit crazy over at Maplelea on Amazon. 

Teehee.

How could I not though, right? Udderly Adorable calf is right!

Here's how she arrived, in this pretty blue box. At first I was like "How on earth could they fit her in this box?"

Leonie and Saila wondered the same thing! 

Until we opened the box and... Aha! Her little legs bend. How funny. She looks like she's sleeping in the box, eh? 

I bent out her legs (they have an armature) and stood her up and... 

Oh. So. Cute.

It also came with this adorable jeans and tshirt outfit with cow printed socks. It includes some journal pages to put in your Maplelea doll notebook about the calf too. 

Leonie said "We should let your sister wear the outfit first since she just got here from Canada!" 

"That's a great idea! She'll love that!" replied Saila

So, not a bad little set if you have a little girl who is an aspiring or practicing farm girl... Or if you're a collector like me who loves cute props for her Doll Photos too. The outfits from Maplelea usually cost around $20 and the set is $45 which makes the calf about $25. Pretty reasonable for a toy like this... I will say I wish she were a tiny bit more realistic looking but... Honestly with stuffed doll pets, it's just a take what you can get sort of thing. It would be fun if they made a cow in the hard plastic like the Battat horses... Eh? 

She's pretty adorable though! What should I name her? I keep thinking Elsie because that's the only cow name I ever remember hearing. Do you have any ideas? Let me know in comments. Do you have any pets for your dolls?

Doll Backgrounds From FunDeco For American Girl Dolls!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

I love Doll backdrops but never thought to look for them on Amazon until this past weekend and I found this fun 'four scenes in one' doll backdrop and had to check it out. It was $30, so that’s only $7.50 per scene. It would cost at least that to make a far inferior version of such a thing myself so, I thought it was a pretty good deal!

Here is Nanea in the tropical scene right after I got the background in the mail yesterday... I literally couldn't wait to take her photo in it when I got it out of the box. I knew it'd be fantastic for photos with her! And I was so right, eh? Isn't she adorable on the beach? She was pretty excited too, she likes Nebraska but misses her home in Hawaii. So this will be great for her too. (Teehee)

Here is Suzi with her pony in the horse stable scene. Doesn't it look so real?

The backdrop is made from a a heavy foam board that fits together in an X shape. Pretty nifty. Here are some photos of it I stole from Amazon to give you an idea of how it goes together until I get a chance to take better photos of it myself I didn't think to take a photo of the actual item yesterday, I was too busy having fun taking photos of the dolls in the scenes!

I think care would have be taken if you have smaller children when putting it together just so it doens't get bent or whatnot but once it's assembled, you have four wholly different 'venues' for your Dollies to play in. Nicely done FunDeco!!

Lastly here is Francis in the camping scene. My one tiny 'complaint' about this one is that it puts the Doll standing in the water? I plan to use my grass panels from eBay when I take photos with it in earnest though and think it’ll look ok especially with more dolls and props in scene.

So after I got them and came here to tell you all about them, I realize that Amazon is totally out of stock!! Bummer! I almost didn't come to tell you about them because how lame is it if you can't get one too! So I was brainstorming about how to help you find your own and decided to just Google the company name and low and behold, there they were and at the same price. I am not sure what shipping costs are but here is the link to them on FunDeco's website. As you'll see, they also make 'indoor scenes' and I might get that one at some point or other just because it'd be fun to have 'other rooms' backgrounds for the Doll House. We will see... They also make some pretty other products, like the castle... I suspect that would make a pretty cool doll prop if you had the space and wanted to make cool scenes of dolls in a castle. I might just have to do that sometime as well... Haha. We shall see. So if you need great doll backdrops, I highly recommend these. Taking outdoor doll photos is so much easier inside! Right?

Thrifted Our Generation Horse And Dresser!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

So... I know I don't need another horse for the Doll House because I already have three of the large ones and four ponies and one mid sized... But...

I also have a weakness for white horses because of 'The Last Unicorn" movie that came out when I was a teen. I know. I am a geek. 

Plus this one had this cool 'circus' blanket and.... 

Was only $3.99 and I figured the cool horse blanket and reigns were worth that even if I don't end up keeping the horse. (Because space!!) 

I also got a few other items. I went back to that one thrift store that had the pretty Japanese Dragon Cups and Vases thinking perhaps I'd buy a few more if they had them still. Well, they only had two items left, one cup and one tea pot. So I bought them both because they really are very pretty! I also go the pretty plates, the crystal vase (with cute chicks around the base, so cute!!), the horn (which is a Christmas ornament in 'real life) and the saki cups that I plan to use as saimen bowls in the Doll House. I am pretty sure the guy at Goodwill was scandalized that I bought the cups and not the Saki Pitcher that went with it. He asked me if I'd seen it and I said yes but I didn't need it. Pretty sure he thought was weird at that point but oh well. 

See? Here is the set all together. I thought about buying the pitcher as a vase but it wasn't all that pretty and so I just left it there. 

I saw this Our Generation doll in the cart they bring stock out in from the back. I picked her up to look at her because her outfit was cute but they had her marked $7.99! Ha! As if. A brand new one can be gotten for about $25 on sale sometimes so that is ambitious of them. I wonder how long it'll be before she's purchased. Poor dear. 

I also saw these benches. I was sort of tempted to buy the one on the right even though I already have one that you can see in this post. After picking it up though I realized it had a flaw on the back right side where the wood looks like it was broken and then glued. So... Since I already had one and it was marked $3.99, I left it there. 

This dresser tempted me because it's so cute but it was marked $5.99 and I have lots of doll dressers already. 

These two wood shelves caught my eye. I even picked them up. When I look at them, I see doll chairs!

You'd just have to remove the side hardware and add some dowl's for legs. I might have even tried said project but I am over run with doll chairs in the Doll House and so I didn't buy them. Still it was  a fun idea.

Saw this whole bag of Build-A-Bear clothes which might've once tempted me because you can Build A Bear clothes for the dolls if you modify them a bit. However, I have so many doll clothes I passed on them. 

This was cute! A little closet for doll clothes. I have a huge Doll Closet  as well as a beautiful wardrobe I got from my wonderful friend Frann and so don't need one. It would be great for a little girl though. It's the Disney Princess and Me Wardrobe but it was filled up with American Girl Doll hangers. 

Not a bad price for it! 

Especially for the hangers. I could've probably bought the whole thing and sold just the hangers on eBay and gotten more than I spent but... That would require me to be much less of a lazy eBayer than I am. Haha. Also, if I started buying doll items with the idea of re-sale, my house could be taken over pretty quickly with 'inventory' that might never get sold. Can't have that. Not to mench, that would start to turn my little hobby into a job and... Well, I don't want that either. Right? Or I suppose I don't. LOL 

This whole cart of really pretty wooden boxes and animals caught my eye. They were so pretty!! But... I didn't need any of them so I bravely walked away without any. Proud? Later I thought that one of the little compartment boxes might've been cute on the back of a doll desk but I am sure they are all gone by now... Hindsight is harsh when it comes to thrift shops. Haha.

Doll sized jars... Cute right? I didn't buy them though because, again, space is always an issue. 

I did find something I couldn't pass up though. This cute dresser/or sideboard. It was only $3.99 and I love the folksy paint on it. Not sure what it'll end up being used for in the Doll House but it's super pretty!
