Recent Doll Finds At A Garage Sale & Thrift Store

Hi Doll Friends!

It’s been ever such a long time since I came to say hello. I’m so sorry to have been missing in action! It seems life has given me so many things to focus on that I just never do find the time to indulge in my doll hobby anymore. I always determine, at the outset of every week, to take doll photos or make a blog post. I even have it on my ‘to-do’ list! But invariably it seems to always get ‘bumped’ to the next week and now I’ve blinked and it’s been, what? A year? Yikes! Life sure does fly by!

So I am plunging in here with a post about some treasures  I found during a recent garage sale and thrift store shopping spree. First, I found two of the Disney ILY dolls! One at a garage sale and one at a thrift store. Both just happened to have on Stitch costumes, which made me laugh and decide it was a ‘meant to be’ happening. The first of the two is Tiana. She had her hair cut but so well that I had to ask the little girl who was selling her if she had come that way? I love her short curls! I got her for only a $1! The next one I got I am not sure exactly who she is? I guess she must be Anna from Frozen but I’m not sure. Whoever she is, she is lovely. She needs to hair sorted because she had never been removed from her Stitch costume and probably just thrown in a toy box to be forgotten until she was donated to the local thrift, where I found her. She still had the plastic fasteners attaching the costume to her head, which is how I knew she’d never been removed from it. So I am hoping to get them both cleaned up and dressed in regular street clothes soon!

Next, I found a Wellie Wisher, I got her for $2.99 I think… she is the blonde hair and blue eyed one named Camille. She actually rounds out my Wellie collection other than the little boy named Bryant. She wasn’t wearing a stitch of clothing when I found her so I dressed her in a dress from one of my Heart for Hearts dolls. She looks so much more comfortable for having an outfit on but still needs a spa day to get her cleaned up.

Then I found a Madame Alexander 13inch Belle Doll still in her box. She was a total impulse purchase just because she is so pretty! She was only $5 and looked so lonely on the shelf at the thrift store I found her in. So before I knew it, she was in my shopping cart and headed home to the Doll House.

Last but not least I found a plethora of 18inch doll shoes and accessories at one of the Garage Sales. I noticed one or two of the items in a big toy bin and commenced digging thru the bin until I found every single accessory in there! The person having the sale let me have all of it for $5!! Such a steal!

So, that’s my recent treasures! My poor Dollies are all in like a cryogenic sleep but I plan to wake them up eventually. Luckily Dollies are patient and I have them safe from dust! Pray I find more doll time soon! I’m currently selling items I find at thrift stores etc. across four selling platforms in addition to my part time job and… while I find it fun it takes a lot of time. I’d like to say I’m selling some of my dolls or doll items but I just never can seem to want to part with them. To be fair to them, I really should allow some of them to go to homes where they will get more attention but… then I’d invariably miss them as I always seem to when I re-home a doll!

Better run!
Hope this finds you having a lovely day!

Getting Back To Sewing Machine For The Dollies! Gearing Up To Sell Doll Fashions!

Hi Doll Friends!

It's finally happened! I've found some time to work on sewing for the dollies again! Years ago, I had hoped to open a doll store, but I ended up moving across the country instead. After I moved, I just didn't have the time to devote to it. The time to even take doll photos as much as I'd like, much less pull out the sewing machine and sew again. As fortune would have it, a great deal of time has been opened in my schedule. So I am taking the plunge! I'm going to sew my heart out... When I was a girl, I dreamed of being a fashion designer. Then I found out that lots of math was involved. Not my strong suit! However, when it comes to designing and making doll clothes, I can take that passion to make my own clothing ideas come to life! How exciting! I'll keep you posted as to when I launch the store... It might just be a 'soft launch' where I slowly post items on eBay... I've been selling some of my doll items there, trying to clear out the inventory I'd planned to sell in my doll store. Ultimately though, I'd like to sell mostly doll clothes that I make and/or doll-sized items I find at thrift stores.

So exciting!

UPDATE 10/23/2024: Here is the link to my eBay store

PS This is a sneak peek at some of the doll clothes I've been working on. This is my reversible tunic mini-dress or top. You get two looks with one item. The velcro at the shoulders allows you to reverse it to a totally different design. It's in line with my hope to make doll clothes that stretch your doll clothes budget! Stay tuned!

Distracted By My Other Hobby... Busy Making Greeting Cards!

Hi Doll Friends!

I've been a bit MIA for a while here on the blog. Sorry about that. Long before I was into my doll hobby so much, I loved paper crafts. Rubber stamping and scrapbooking being my main focus. Well recently God has put on my heart to get back into card making in order to send them out and, hopefully, put a bright spot in someone's day when they open their mail box. There are so many pretty stickers and papers and such out nowadays that I've fallen into a bit of a rabbit hole with them. Haha. Can't ever do anything by half measures can I? So I figured I'd come and tell you where I've been and what I've been up to and show you a few of the cards I've made. Totally unrelated to dolls I realize so I won't make another post like this (unless you want me to every once in a while and I'd be happy to, just let me know in the comments). I hope this finds you having a wonderful early June! How is it Summer already? Time flies!

If you like getting snail mail and or know someone you think might be happy to get a word of encouragement in the mail, make a comment below (to let me know cos I am bad about looking at my personal email anymore!) and then send me an email (via the 'contact form' on the side bar here >>) with "Card Please" and your address or the address of who you'd like me to send one to and I'll send one to you! (Only in the United States please because I don't know about how much postage costs to other country). I'll send a card to the first ten or so requests I get because I don't want to over promise myself and not be able to keep my word!

Thanks for your readership!!

PS Here is my Pinterest Board for cards I make (I started the board to keep track of my own creations and ideas) and I try to keep it updated so saying this is the last post about cards I ever make on this blog, you can find them going foward there.
