Small People By Cecily Doll Find At Thrift Store!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

Happy Sunday! As is my normal routine, on Friday mornings after my Bible Study with my good friend, I stop in to the local thrift store in my town. When I stopped in on Friday, I noticed they had some little dolls in the showcase. Interesting! You know me, I can't not at least take a look at dolls of just about any sort. When I took a closer look at these, something about them just caught me...

I decided I couldn't leave them there. They were just too cute and original! I mean, they were literally made by hand by the original artist as best as I can tell. They were marked $3.00 each and to me that felt more than fair. I only had a $10 bill in my pocket and so I made myself pick my favorite three. There was only one other one and I am so annoyed at myself that I forgot to take a photo of it in the store. Rats. Perhaps he will still be there on Monday afternoon when they open again and I can either photograph him or bring him home one or the other. Teehee. In the meantime, who did come home with me?

These three sweet ginger dolls! A clown, a little school boy and a jump-roping girl. Aren't the adorable. I love that they have little doll stands even.

I am not normally a fan of clowns, they generally kind of creep me out... But this little clown just looked sweet to me and not creepy at all. Perhaps it's because she looked more like a pierrot than a gaudy circus clown. So, surprising even myself, she was the first I chose.

I don't know why but something about the sweet details and orignality of them made me fall right in love with them.

As you can see, they are marked on the bottom of their feet with the signature of the artist and the date they were made. This little pierrot clown was made in 1984. I am not sure if it means that it's Jan 9, 1984 or if she stopped putting the month on the feet by then?

They all had their original tags on them which all read "Small People By Cecily" on one side. I tried to find some information about these dolls but didn't come up with much other than images of them on Google related mostly to eBay and Etsy listings of them for sale.

And "I am a unique invidual hand made with tender loving care. My left foot bears Cecily's signature and the date of my birth." Isn't that sweet?!

Next I chose this sweet little jump roping girl.

Such a sweet little face!! I apparently forgot to photograph her signature. She was made in October of 1981.

Then I chose what looked like her twin brother, this little school boy.

He was born in October of 1981 as you can see.

I decided it would make a good photo shoot to imagine Frann and Heather Doll 'shopping' at a Doll Shoppe and picking out one of the dolls for themselves...

Frann Doll chose the jump roping girl.

And Heather Doll chose the pierrot doll!

Getting new dolls is so much fun, even when you're a doll yourself. Right?

So I imagine I'll find some special place in the Doll House to display these cute little dolls... Perhaps in the doll bedrooms. Doll storage, always a bit of a conundrum even when you're a doll. Hahaha!

Better run if I am gonna make it to church on time. Have a wonderful Sunday yourself!

Blind Date For JonSnow and LeanneDoll

Hi Doll Friends!

Recently I made a JonSnow Doll based on the character of same name on Game Of Thrones. LeanneDoll, a doppelgänger doll of one of my oldest friends, naturally wanted to meet him!

So I set up a little date for them to chat. LeanneDoll ordered her favorite food in the world, tacos! JonSnow Doll had steaks.

For dessert they had cherry pie!

I think they had a really great time! I love making custom dolls.

Till next time!

Meet Frann Dolls Husband Frank!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

As I've mentioned in recent blog posts, I've begun to feel like I have a few too many dolls. What!? That's a preposterous notion isn't it? Is there such a thing even? Never! Hahaha. Kidding. I honestly don't really thing there is such a thing as 'too many dolls' honestly. If you have the space, the money and the access to them, you're not hurting anyone, right? It's actually not due to the space or the money that is making me feel like I have 'too many' though. Although, lets get real, space can be a problem when you have over a hundred a lot of dolls! I actually don't know how many I have, I haven't counted in a while... Teehee... No the driving force behind my feeling like perhaps I have too many is that because of that, some of them just sit and collect dust. Literally. I do try to rotate them in and out of the Doll House scenes but I do have favorites (don't tell the dolls!!) and naturally those see more 'play time' than the others. So... I've begun to try and weed some dolls out. Is it silly that I feel kind of guilty every single time I get rid of a doll? Like I am a bad 'Doll Mom' or something. Isn't that silly? I mean I know they're all just made of plastic and fluff but I get attached anyway. Such as the life of a doll fanatic huh?

So... I started basket of dolls I wasn't totally in love with. Just set them aside at first... You know, to mull over what to do with them. I am the laziest person in the world when it comes to eBay because the parceling up and mailing always seems so difficult to me. So my thought is usually to just donate the dolls to Goodwill because nine  seven (?) times out of ten I will have gotten them at a thrift store anyway.

One of the dolls I put in the 'pile' of possible orphans was my very first Adora doll. It wasn't that I didn't like her but I had the newer versions Adora dolls and I had to weed someone. I wasn't particularly attached to that doll and since I'd originally named her Fongtan after one of my favorite co-workers, I just stole the name and gave it to the newer Adora Doll that arrived named Jasmine. As I looked at my original Adora though, the more I looked, the more I saw why I wasn't in love with her. Because she would be much more loveable as a boy!! So, I set to work. I decided to just cut his hair myself and see how it came out. If it was horrible, I was planning to order a wig. However, much to my utter surprise and delight, I really love the way his hair came out!!

Doll Friends meet Frank!! He has come to the Doll House to be Frann Doll's husband and fella. I decided to give him an American name to match Frann Doll's because I a terrified I'll spell his Korean name wrong every single time and I know I'll say it wrong too. I can't have that! I am so happy to have Frank because now Heather Doll and Frann Doll can go on double dates!! Fun!!

Here is the happy couple Frann and Frank. Aren't they fabulous?!?!

Here are Josh Doll and Heather Doll all ready to have a fun chat and coffee on a double date with Frank and Frann.

Naturally they decided to go to the Sweet Shoppe for a coffee, sweets and a chat.

Say cheese!!

Time flew and soon enough Annie, who was running the Sweet Shoppe because it was Lisa Doll's day off, brought out their Bakery orders to go.

Josh and Heather had ordered some more of the Strawberry Shortcake Josh had while they were chatting and Frann and Frank ordered a strawberry-rhubarb pie because Josh recommended them and they'd never had one before.

They had such a nice time they decided they must go on double dates more often! Frank told Josh that they would have to go out golfing because that was his favorite hobby.

Here is Heather Doll paying for Josh and Heather's part of the evening.

And here is Frann paying for her and Franks. The girls were treating for the evening because they had helped them with some studying earlier and wanted to do something nice for them. Isn't that sweet?

Naturally the boys carried the boxes because they are gentlemen.

So that wraps up the fun first double date! Everyone had so much fun!

Better run!
Till next time!

Our Generation Gabe Arrives At The Doll House!!

Hi Doll Friends!

Our Generation keeps outdoing themselves. Just when I say/think "That's it, I have all the Our Generation Dolls I think I'll 'need'..." They go and come out with another adorable one! This time? Gabe the newest boy doll in their line. I ordered him, literally, the moment I saw him online. He's even cuter in person than in their stock photos! Perhaps one of the most handsome 18inch boy dolls I've seen yet, actually. Well done Our Generation!!

He arrived late last week but it was a busy weekend and so I didn't get a chance to post until today...

So handsome!!!

When I ordered him I thought I wasn't going to keep his name... But once he arrived I decided he just looks like a Gabe. One of my favorite angels in the Bible is Gabriel and this kid looks like he could be the modern kid version of him. Eh?

I love his hair!

And he's outta the box!

The girls came to welcome him! I'm sure he'll be very popular... Hahaha.

Billy came along so the poor fella wouldn't feel totally alone with the girls!

I think he's going to make a great addition to the Doll House! Can't wait for the upcoming Homecoming Season so he can get dressed up and take one of the gals on a date!

Oh, and guess what? I checked back on Target online a bit later in the week and darn it if they didn't release a new girl that hopped in my shopping buggy and is on her way home... Her name is Lake and she's adorable!! I'd considered Kay earlier this year when I brought Juliet and Amy home... But I have so many red headed dolls in the Doll House already that I just never did make the purchase. I am so glad because Lake has the same sculpt and I love her eyes, hair and freckles!! Well, in order to get free shipping I had to buy something else and since I've seemingly thrown all caution to the four winds with regards to restraint in doll population... I ordered another doll I thought of last year too! So Manuella is on her way along with Lake. Hahaha! I think she has the same sculpt as well but I can't decide for sure. What do you think?

In any case they are all beautiful and I am excited for Lake and Manuella to arrive!

Better run!
