Carpatina Heterochromia Twins Arrive At Doll House!!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

First, before we start and before anyone gets upset by the title of this blog, lets tell you what heterochromia means. It's defined as:

heterochromia het·er·o·chro·mi·a (hět'ə-rō-krō'mē-ə)
n.
A difference in coloration in two structures or two parts of the samestructure that are normally alike in color.

Most often it happens in eye color... With that gotten out of the way...

Look at who arrived in the mail today!  I love them! I've always wanted a heterochromatic doll and have always wanted a Carpatina doll as well!

I also love twin dolls so I have a duplicate to send to my best doll friend friend Frann! (Hi Frann!)

So how did I happen to get two? I have always wanted a Carpatina doll but at $100ish I never had taken the plunge. Then when on Etsy the other day I saw these beauties being sold as "liquidation" because of the very thing I love them for, their heterochromatic eyes!!

Both of them were only $39.99! (Plus shipping) They were part of what I bought with my birthday money and I am so utterly stoked to have found them!!

After looking them over I realized two things. The first is that their body type is basically identical in every way to my Just Pretend Dolls and upon realizing that, I realized I'd never gotten back to even give a proper 'review' of the Just Pretend dolls last year after I got them! About a month after I got them we decided we were moving and I packed up 90% of my doll stuff to be put in storage (oh, that was a long six months!). We've been moved over a year now and I realize I never got a post about them done! So... It'll be one of my new blog posts coming up where I review both together, stay tuned for that! In the meantime though, back to the new girlies!

They arrived in one of the fancy Carpatina boxes... Which I thought was great given they were 'liquidation' dolls! Now I don't know how many 'sets' she has but I just checked and it appears there is at least one of these sets still there for sale. here is the link to find it.

See, they were snuggled together like twins in a womb... Which is sweet because I consider them twins myself.

They were perfect in every way!! Other than their eye colors being different they were in perfect pristine shape... Considering Carpatina Diya normally sells for $98, I still can't believe I got two of her for half less than half that! (Well, with shipping it was about $67 total but still a steal!!)

I think they are so beautiful! As you can see, the degree of variance of eye color is a bit different between the two of them. The one on the left is more drastic.. The one on the right is so subtle you can almost not even notice it unless you're looking for it. I am going to keep the one with the more drastic difference and send the other to Frann. She's already said she is excited that she is coming to live with her!! One more set of twins for us to share... I love it.

Sorry for the partially nude shots but this is how they came out of the box...

I dressed them in twin dresses and even gave them handbags alike... Frann had just told me that she wanted to give me a handbag for Christmas and it was just too perfect to give the twin dollies handbags that were the same too. Not to mention, these doll sized bags were a gift from Frann and they match a 'real sized' bag she sent along with them. So they are some of my favorite doll accessories!

l

I've decided that, unlike how I most often re-name dollies who come to live in the doll house, in this instance, I really love the name Diya and will let her keep it as a name. It means 'light' in sanskrit and being that I love to practice yoga it seemed perfect!

I don't know if Frann will rename her's or not... I'll have to ask her.

So before one sister got ready for the long trip to Frann's house, they decided to go to the Sweet Shoppe for one last fun outting...

"I think I'll get a sucker to take on the plane with me!"

"This drink looks amazing!"

Rose was happy to wait on the sisters and wished them good luck after they told her their story.

They talked excitedly about what life will be like in Korea and how they'd have to be pen pals so they could live vicariously through one another's adventures!

All too soon it was time to get ready to go...

I carefully packed Frann's twin into the box....

They were sad to say goodbye to one another but know they'll be able to FaceTime anytime they want and so aren't really too sad.

Have a safe trip sister!!

That's it for now Doll Friends!
Till Next Time!

Our Generation Beekeeper Doll Melina Arrives At Doll House!!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

Happy Wednesday!! When I got my Juliet Doll, I loved her face sculpt so much that I knew I'd have to get the other doll that OG put out with the same sculpt. Naturally, once I decided I wanted her, she became nearly impossible to find online. She is the Beekeeper Doll from OG's Professional Doll collection. Her accessories are nearly as cute as she is! So I took to 'checking' Target online for her whenever I checked my emails etc and made the 'rounds' of my phone. (You know, Instagram, my blog, email, Pinterest, favorite blogs, Facebook (when I am weak, LOL I am trying to give up), etc etc etc.. you know, the rounds of modern day life.) So the other day I checked and there she was!! So, despite having gone a tiny bit bonkers in the arena of doll buying lately, I snatched her up without a second thought, chose 'ship to store' to avoid shipping costs and waited. She arrived Monday and I was able to swing by and pick her up after work yesterday. I am so so so glad I bought her. She is totally gorgeous.

She arrived in a clear plastic bag...

Here she is early this morning... I needed to photo her in the box before I opened and then I forced myself to come and write this post before I allow myself to unbox her... So this post might be short. Hahaha!

At Target these beds were 50% off! I don't need another doll bed or I might've snapped one up. So cute!

This is a new motif in their other kind of doll bed. I think it's cute!

I saw the hotdog cart and even though they currently have a BOGO half off sale, I am proud to say I didn't buy it. I am sure I'll regret it at some point. It is really cute.

I want these twins!!! I keep talking myself out of them because I have so many dolls but I love that they are sold 'as' twins and have a whole story about them and being twins. How fun!!

Is this a new face sculpt? I couldn't decide. At first I thought she was the same old one but... Looking closer I am not sure. Her nose seems thinner?

Not a new sculpt but I love her ensemble!

I think this gal might be new too? Do you guys remember?

Naturally I stopped in to a couple of Goodwill's enroute home yesterday too... I saw these chairs... I don't need any more doll chairs at all... They were marked $3.99 each but are pretty top notch and so I didn't think that was too much... But I don't need any doll chairs. So, I compromised and bought two of them. Bwahahahahahahahaha. Seriously though, do you know how many dolls I have? They need to sit somewhere...!

Also saw these cuties... Love their outfits and their cute faces but... NO. I left them there. So cute though!

More sad collector dolls at Goodwill. *sigh* Poor dears.I actually have a few of the Precious Moments ones and I think they are really really cute. But they are in the basement in the 'get rid of' box because, ultimately, I had to choose a 'type' and stick with it. Or I'd own every Precious Moments doll ever made before I knew it. Hahaha. But they are so cute!!

Then I saw Jesus. It was all I could do not to bring Him home!! Had to keep reminding myself "I don't collect figurines, I don't collect figurines...." I love Jesus!

Better run!!

Twin Madame Alexander Dolls For Frann and Me!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

This weekend I've been trying to catch up on some doll related things I've wanted to do for a while now. One of those things was...

To photograph the latest twin dolls I found at Goodwill recently for Frann and me! I wanted to get photos of them together before I send off Frann's doll in the mail this coming week. I re-wigged one doll from a pinkish red into this dark brown wig in order to make them into twins. I asked Frann if she wanted me to re-wig her doll or leave her as she was and she opted to keep her with her orignal haircut. Frann said that oftentimes real twins don't have the exact same hair cut afterall. So, they are cute twins sporting different hair styles!

One reason I took so long to get the doll ready to send to Frann was I wanted to send her in a dress I upcycled but also wanted to do the Fashion Show with the clothes I was sending... So it took a bit of time to pull off.

But at long last, here are the girlies ready to get dressed into some traveling clothes!

Well, only one of the dolls is traveling actually but they both wanted to get dressed in a similar dress for their goodbye photos.

So here they are in their new dresses and some cute fall boots!

Don't they look lovely?

Calla came in to chat with them and assure the traveling sister that everything would be lovely and she was going to have such a fun life in Korea! You may notice I say 'traveling sister' and not her name... That is because Frann is going to name these twin dolls and she is still deciding on what they should be called. So I'll let you know as soon as she tells me!!

This last photo was a total 'error' photo that I am not really sure how I even took it but I thought it looked kind of neat and so I am showing it to you.

I better run! I have a few more blog drafts I want to get posted today!
Have a great day!
