Vintage Our Generation Battat Doll Gets Wig Makeover

Hi Doll Friends,

Some time ago (I really don't recall when?) I found an Our Generation Doll at a thrift store with a face sculpt I hadn't seen before. I've been looking at and for dolls for over a decade, so I thought I'd seen all the 'older' Our Generation sculpts. So when I found this little lady, I had to pick her up. Then she sat for... Quite a long while. Recently, it I decided it was time I do something with her. Her hair was a disaster, very dirty and thin. So I knew I'd need to give her a new wig. This one at the top is the one I've decided is the best of the ones I tried on. It's actually the wig I removed from Jazz when I made her over. I really love it on her. Below you can see how she looked when I got her. Not very good photos, I thought I'd taken better 'before' photos before I sat down to cut off her hair but I couldn't find them. Then the rest of the photos are of other wig options I tried out. Several of them looked pretty good too. Have any of you seen this sculpt before? I'd love to get more information about her because I can't find anything!

Better run!

New York Doll Company City Girls Jazz Gets New Look. Meet Delta Blue!

Hi Doll Friends,

I've long loved New York Doll Company's City Girls Dolls It makes me so sad they are no longer made. They were so well made and I love their original sculpt. *sigh* Jazz was the first one I brought home to the Doll House. Then game Harper, who I won in a contest, which, how cool is that? Then came Layla, who, at the time, I thought would probably be the last one to join my collection given that they were $79.99 at their regular price. New York Doll Company still sells 18-inch dolls but they've apparently teamed up with Lotus. Here is my favorite of those, named Catalina. They don't really appeal to me though because they don't differ much at all from other Lotus Dolls I have in my collection.

Well, before they stopped making them, I found them on a drastic sale. I may or may not have gone a little nuts and bought five of them. I have no regrets at all other than wishing I would've bought a few more at that price. I bought two Harpers, two Beth's and one Jazz. One of the Beth's and Harper's got a makeover quickly after. However, the 'second' Jass and the 'third' Harper were waiting patiently for a makeover. Well, recently I've been making more time for my doll hobby. So I pulled 'Second Jazz' and decided it was time. I put one of the American Girl Doll wigs I found on eBay several years ago and...
  I absolutely love her!!

I think she looks so lovely in her new wig! I've decided to name her Delta-Blue, after Delta Blues, one of the oldest types of blues music. I wanted to give her a 'music' related name because of Jazz's name. Delta Blue also works because of her beautiful blue eyes.

Isn't she lovely?

So now I only have one City Girl left to make over, one more Harper. I suspect that she might get a drastic makeover and become a brother to the others. Don't quote me though, I've been known to change my mind.

Heather and Aaron Doll Get Makeovers

Hi Doll Friends,

You may have seen the Independence Day Post and if you did, you saw Heather and Aaron Doll dressed up in patriotic clothes for the holiday. They'd both just had a make-over of sorts. Aaron Doll came from Our Generation with brown hair but I bought him because I wanted an OG boy doll that had hazel eyes. Aaron, in real life, had blonde hair when he was a kid so I knew I needed to change his hair color. Well, I've recently tried to be more intentional about finding or making time for my doll hobby because I really do enjoy it and if I wait for the time to materialize, it clearly won't happen. So, on the top of my doll hobby to-do list was to change his hair. Another thing high on my list was to give Heather Doll a makeover. I'm embarrased to say that, since she came home to the Doll House all those many years ago, she's never had a shampoo and bath day. I know, terrible right? I really need to do regular spa days for all my favorite dolls who get out and about and perhaps get a bit dirty. So, it was time!

Here she is in her before photo. I mean, she looks fine but...

Her hair looks a bit dull and dusty.

So here she is, ready for her shampoo.

The ends of her hair still looked a bit rough so I trimmed off the extra long parts.

She looked so happy and restful and relaxed afterwards!

I didn't think to take 'before' photos of Aaron Doll but here is his 'after' photo.

Don't they look fantastic and happy together?

Well, that's it for now! Time for me to go work in the Fourth of July BBQ and relax with the fam.

Better run!
