Recent Thrifty Finds Thrift Shop and Flea Market!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

As you know, whenever I happen to be close-by to a Thrift Shop, I have to stop in just in case there are any doll sized items there. On Friday I had to go into a nearby town that has a thrift shop and I found some really great items there!

Check out this Vintage Tupperware in the 1980's colors! We had this same exact Tupperware when I was a kid... Each of us had our own assigned color and 'my' color was orange.. So it was so neat to see them again and in doll size! The best part? The price!

The cake taker was only 50cents and the cups and plates were $1.00 for all of them! Score!! They are actually the tiniest bit too large for 18inch dolls, scale wise.... Unless you 'pretend' that these are like the large 32oz Tumblers and they did make those! My mother was a Tupperware lady and so I'd know!

The cake taker, while a bit large, is fun because you can stick the dolls hands in under the handles and they can hold the cake taker all by themselves!

Here is a photo of some other finds... The little 'tea strainer' was new in the box but I unboxed it for the photo so you could maybe see why I bought it for the doll house. It looks like a large pasta strainer and little bowl it comes with will be a great pet bowl!

I didn't realize at first what the red cups were, thinking they were just more play cups. They actually came in the bag with the Tupperware plates and cups and was about to donate them back until I realized they were 'stacking cups' like my kids had played with at school so much! Awesomeness!

The plates in the bag with the little girl on them were only 15cents and I loved the Holly Hobby look of the little girl on them... I think the smaller size will be great for the doll house and the larger size will just get donated back to a thrift store.

The little golden forks were perfect size and I'll never have a shortage of forks for dolly dinner parties ever again.... I'll have to find someone to share some of them with. The little Candy Corn shaped erasers are perfect for Halloween cookies. The little whisk was only 50cents and how cute is that? The Battle Ship Game was only 35cents. I love thrift stores! So much fun for so little money!

Here are Cat and Marissa enjoying some cookies on the new plates!

Susannah loves her new whisk!

The girls decided to try and teach themselves how to play dominoes!

Cat turn out to be an ace at the stacking cups!

This is some other stuff I got... See there are the dominoes I mentioned. The little baskets were so cute and I just removed the embellishments they had on them and will use them this upcoming Easter as Easter baskets perhaps. The little Bible is because I can't resist the Bible big or small... I love the Word of God. I bought the cheesy 80's wall adornment (with pink flower) to cut off the cute little doll sized spools of thread. It was only a quarter and so it was worth it. The stockings, obviously, will be for the girls at Christmas time! We have a beautiful fireplace from Frann to hang stockings on, I needed some! They were only a quarter each! I am taking the cards out and might put photos of the appropriate dolls in them at Christmas... Who knows?

Here is Brandy with the basket after I took the cheesy stuff off it's handle with the cute little doll sized spools of thread in it.

Cute baskets!

Susannah said "These will be great at peach season when we have to harvest them so often!"

Here is a photo of the little tin dishes and forks in their box. The plates were all in pretty amazing shape considering they are probably 30 years old if not older... The little box of forks, if I had to guess, probably sat in some persons drawer for 40years waiting for a party fancy enough to warrant them being used. Luckily for me, they ended up saving them for my dolls parties in the future! Right?

Here is Brandi enjoying a Halloween cookie! Notice the coat on her chair... She had it on in the first photo as well..

Perhaps you noticed the outfit Cat was wearing...? Well, I mentioned in the title of this blog Thrift Shop and Flear Market Finds...? I went by Flea Market recently and my favorite Toy Vendor had some 18inch doll clothes! She charged me $2 for this outfit and $2 for each of the jackets.

I love both coats so much for different reasons and perfect timing since it's turning cooler by the day...

Perhaps you noticed the white coat on Frann on the trip to the Tree Park the other day...? It just made her outfit!

I saw these cute doll clothes too but I am just a bit too cheap to pay $10 an outfit for outfits that aren't really in 'my' styles... Still... Very cute and fun to see.

That's it for now Doll Friends!

Till next time!

Thrift Store Vintage Doll Clothes Find!

Hi Doll Friends!!

I went to a thrift store on Tuesday and found a neat bag of vintage doll clothes for only $2.99! Score!

Here is MaryDoll and EmAnneDoll modeling two of the dresses. Aren't they cute?! Not all of it was for 18" sized dolls... But a lot of it was! All the items were hand made by someone. By the style of the fabric and pattern, I would guess the 1960s or so was when they were made...

They all came in this nifty see thru suitcase.

Here they are, all laid out after I washed them. Will post more of them modeled soon. What a fun find!

Till next time!

Flea Market Doll Finds! Vintage Battat Doll and Mini AG!

Hi Doll Friends!

Yesterday after church I ran by the flea market. One of the vendors has a toy booth...

I got great deals on fantastic finds!

I got all these vintage Battat shoes! The pointy toed dress shoes are unlike any I've ever even seen before! The colors are all great too, I don't have any of these shades of blue and pink and this is only pair of yellow DocMartin type shoes I've ever even seen! Fun!!!

I got all these doll clothes... She sells doll clothes out of a big bin for 50cents an item. The little flowered pants are American girl doll... Made for bitty babies but they work for 18" dolls too. The panties are AG too... Otherwise it's OG or BuildABear clothes or off brand. Cute though, all of them!

I got this actual AG mini Julie for $5!

Then this little gal... I have a few Battat dolls with the 1998 face sculpt that came as blonde and red heads. Both have been changed to boy dolls because I think the sculpt is good as a boy face. Both my others have blue eyes. So when I saw this one, I thought, immediately, "brown eyed boy!". Not to mench she had on an amazing dress!

However, after I finally got her home and looked her over, something surprised me! All the other 1998 Battat dolls I've found have had (really crappy hard to remove) wigs. Not so with this little gal! She has rooted hair! She also had pink and purple extensions in her hair... I assumed added by the little girl who owned her before...

As I went to remove them so I could give her hair a proper brushing, I realized they must've come on the doll?!

See the white fastener? Factory direct apparently! So this little lady was basically in "fresh out of the box" shape! So her hair is staying put and she is to stay a girl...

Her name will be Becky after a life long friend who also has fabulous hair.

Here she is in one of the dresses I got. It's a "What a Doll" outfit. That means it is likely a duplicate of a real little girl outfit and came as a set so a girl could dress the same as her doll. I have a few of the same sort of outfit from when my daughter was still in love with her AG doll and they will always be cherished outfits! They are made really well and are very fashion forward! I brushed out her hair and braided it. She looks so pretty!

Flea Markets are so much fun! You never know what you're going to find!

Better run!
Till next time!

Vintage 1982 Sekiguchi Le Cheri 18inch Doll

Hi Doll Friends!

I swore of eBay a bit ago... But before I did, I got this beauty for 99cents!! She is from the same year as my very first Sekiguchi doll Magdalene only in a different color dress. I made a post about all my Sekiguchi dolls recently if you'd like more information about them. I also recently found a Sekiguchi 14inch boy doll too.

I hadn't planned on buying her, really... But when I saw the beginning bid price I thought "I'll bid on it on off chance no one else does..." And no one did! So she was meant to be mine, right?

Naturally shipping cost a bit... But to get a vintage Sekiguchi doll for under $13 shipped?! Awesomeness!!

She is basically twin of my very first Sekiguchi doll except she is in pink and my first one came in blue...

She still had her cork tag attached!

Numbered 488.

Her hair had never been taken out of original bands and they had long ago dried up and disintegrated!

Here is her outfit... It alone is worth $13 because they are so top notch...

I've gotten her cleaned up since I posted this draft... Will have to come back and post photos of her soon and the boy doll... So many dolls, so little time!

Till then!

**Updated 12/12/15**
Hello Again Doll Friends!

Sorry for the readers digest abbreviated version of this blog posted initially. As I wrote about the other day I have been having trouble getting my Blogger App on my phone to jive with my actual blog. Have finally gotten it back on track I think? So... On do the doll story! In that same blog, I told you about some dolls I'd gotten on eBay. Yeah yeah yeah... I know, I have a problem with eBay. I can't help myself, honestly. Told my dear husband the other day I need to have him change the passwords and not tell them to me!! Seriously. But... In the meantime, I've gotten some very cool dolls for a song compared to their orginal prices.

Case in point? This beauty!! She is a vintage Engle Puppe 18inch Doll. She is beautiful!!

I got four in the same lot and they were all brand new in the box. Literally, hadn't ever been removed from the boxes since they were purchased by original owner back in 1989! They even smelled new, literally. This one especially for some reason. Actually, my husband and I agreed she smelled just like the Herberger's Department Store I worked in when we were both teenagers. She smelled amazing!

Every single thing about this doll is top notch. Every single detail.

Her hair is simply amazing. I wish I could let you feel it through this blog because it's almost impossible to convey how fantastic it is. It's plugged hair and it's very thick and, well, just look at the photo! Gorgeous!! I think it's possibly some of the softest doll hair I've ever brushed.

She was the only one of the four dolls that is 18inches tall. The other three are 16inches tall. Which is perfect. I love having diversity of height and body type in the doll house! Not all people are made the same height and body type! So, in my opinion, neither should dolls be. It does help if you're trying to build a doll wardrobe though, I understand, but I guess I just love them enough to work around it. Haha!

The beautiful eyelet blouse has snap closures at the wrists.

I was suprised and delighted that the belt was a totally separate piece. The 'buckle' is made out of nice heavy pewter type metal too. Top notch, I am telling you!

I was actually suprised to find velcro closures on the dress... I guess I'd forgotten velcro came out in the 1980s and would naturally be on doll clothes from that time period just as they are today. I prefer snaps, honestly, but it is what it is. Velcro has a tendency to snap other clothes, tights and doll hair. *sigh*

She came with full underwear, including a slip.

Here she is in the slip and blouse with skirt removed.

Such amazing details on the clothes!

Aren't they sweet?

The only 'flaw' I found was that the elastic on her bloomers was stretched out from age. That just happens to elastic sometimes, over the years. Luckily I have about 500 pairs of doll bloomers I can use instead. Well, maybe...

Here is the whole outfit. I love it all!!

****NUDE DOLL PHOTO WARNING***

**You've been warned!!**
Now on with review....

She is so well made!! Her arms are not poseable nor are her legs but she is well stuffed and can stand pretty well if standing next to a chair or other prop.

She has nice soft vinyl limbs.

Her tag.

From the side.

She was made in 1989 and her tag says Goebel Inc. but her box said "Engel Puppe". She was made in West Germany.

Here she is with some modern clothes with my "My Life As" doll named Leanne.

See how well she is going to fit into the doll house? Perfect!

I named her Crystal after one of my dearest friends in all the land!

Look again at that hair?! So pretty!

I think she looks super cute with glasses on too!

That's it for now Doll Friends!
Until next time!
