More Baby Sitting Club Photos with New Baby Bed!

Greetings Doll Friends!!

When I finished up the posts about the Baby Sitting Club at the Doll House and the Gi Go Babies I had planned to pack away all the 'baby sibling' gear and babies for a while and focus on other things. As luck would have it, I found one more new accessory for the baby sibs that I had to show you.

I had looked at this Circo Baby Doll Bed set back when they sold it at Target for like $20ish. I didn't buy it then because I wasn't as 'in' to dolls and I didn't want to have to store it. Since then I've apparently thrown caution to the four winds on that score! Haha. So I always thought, with regret, that I hadn't picked up one back when they were cheaper and readily available at Target. However, perhaps it was providence!!

Because I found the little bunk bed part at Goodwill in perfect shape (like new I am telling you!) for only $1.99!! I already have a few Circo Baby siblings that I'd purchased 'alone' or with other sets so I didn't really need any more of those and I have also found little 'riding' toys elsewhere...

So I had to add the baby bed to my Baby Sitters Club scenes before I packed it away! What do you think?

I also moved a lot of the babies around but little Heidi doll I tend to always pose reading... Just cos I think she is so adorable holding a book.

I also left Jacxine pushing the Battat baby because I thought they looked so adorable and 'real'.

I forgot to add this cute toddler sized doll my daughter gave me from her own dolls when she was clearing out into the scene... I'll have to tell you more about her another time because she's pretty cute!

This little cheerleader also didn't make the cut into the Baby Sitter Club scenes before because, well, I kind of forgot I had her and the other one above... I would never say I have too many dolls but maybe I am getting close to having 'enough'? Teehee. Probably not. Hahaha.

Isn't she cute? Better run! Monday has arrived and I have cats to herd... Oh, I mean kids to get to school. Have a great one!

Till Next Time!

More Thrifted Finds for the Doll House! Vintage Play Food and a Kitchen Sink!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

As you may have figured out by now, I am a bit of a Thrift Store and Garage Sale enthusiast! I have regular errands that take me by my favorite thrift stores every week and I make it a point to stop in and check for treasures while I am in the area. That is the trick to finding gems at Thrift Stores is to go often! Oftentimes you will only find one or two little things but then there are days like mine recently.

Here is J.J. modeling for scale the items I got thrifting! The little play food is absolutely perfect! I love love love it!! It's scaled perfectly and there are six of all the 'servings' of everything!

I'd never seen any play food like it before! So cute and perfect for the doll house!

Then, I also got this wood shelf for a couple dollars. I am so glad little wood shelves like this were popular about a decade ago because they are making some mighty fine doll furniture for doll enthusiasts now!

I've mentioned I stop into specific Thrift Stores every week. Well, on Thursdays, I get to go by one of my all time favorites! They have a great selection and their prices are always pretty great too. I've made friends with a fabulous clerk there, her name is Jenny. She and I chat up when I go in and she knows I love dolls and all things doll related and that I write a doll blog. So... She keeps her eyes open for me for doll sized items. She isn't allowed to hold anything but she always points out things that she's seen if she happens to know they are still there. She is the one who pointed out the play food! I would've missed it completely if she hadn't known about it and pointed it out because it was in the display case and I didn't think to look there this day! I was so stoked, I asked if she'd take a photo with me! Here we are:

So, being intrigued about the play food, I decided to research it. On eBay! I am telling you, you can find anything in the universe on eBay if you only know what you're looking for. I put 'Vintage Play Food' into the search engine and up popped this and several others. I stole the photo below to show you what the food looked like originally, at least some of it. It looks like it came in the plastic as a big 'sheet' and you popped the little food items out of the sheet. It's highway robbery what they are asking for them on eBay but that's the nature of vintage and rare items on there I guess.

So, naturally, I brought the food home and had to throw a dinner party!

Steak, green peas, corn on the cob and a dinner roll! What a feast!

Rose, being the oldest doll in the Doll House, supervised the preparations!

So what did I do with the little wooden shelf, you ask? I made it into a kitchen sink! I think it's perfect with it's little hooks to hold pans and shelves to hold kitchen and pantry items.

I had the little galvanized box that I'd gleaned from a thrift store a while ago and was saving to find a good 'counter' for. I got the idea to make a 'drain' with a silver button from 'My Froggy Stuff' on YouTube. She is pure genius!

The dolls all agreed the food tasted as good as it looked!

Here is a group photo of the dolls who were able to make it to the dinner party!

They thought the meal was so fancy, they ought to pull out the stemware even!

That's it for now Doll Friends! Thanks for stopping by! See you next time!

Babysitter Club Dolls

Hello Doll Friends!

I am seemingly on a roll lately with the vintage dolls and toys. I don't know if would exactly call the dolls I am about to show you vintage because they've come out since I was an adult... But some of you younger adults who played with these as children might think of them that way. Babysitter Club Dolls came out in the early 1990s and there were seven of them in the collection. If I recall correctly, they were about $40 each back then. I was a merchandiser for the toy department at Kmart in Hawaii at the time and I loved the dolls then, so I remember right I am pretty sure. I didn't get them back then... I didn't have kids and couldn't justify the cost of buying them just because I found them pretty.

Fast forward to about a year ago when I was telling my daughter about them because she had just read one or two of the books. I went to show them to her on Ebay and low and behold, I looked at exactly the right time because I found the entire set, all seven dolls, for $40 on a BuyItNow. I didn't even think, I just hit Buy. That is what one cost when they were new like 20years before! The whole set had never been played with, only displayed. They'd never been removed from their original clothes! Such an amazing find! So they arrived, my daughter and I oohed and awed and then we packed them up awaiting a spare moment to brush out their hair and photo them properly and introduce them to you!

So, Doll Friends, it is my pleasure to introduce, the Baby Sitter Club Dolls!

And one by one, I will introduce them in alphabetical order...
