Oops, I Did It Again! Or Yes Two More Tolly Tot's Join the Doll House!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

I've been having tech problems with the Blogger App again and so I only finally got this draft to post about five minutes before I was out of time to work on the blog. Ho-hum. So this will probably be a bit of an abridged version of the blog post I had planned to write in interest of getting something posted. I hate to let too many days go by without saying hello to my Doll Friends!!

So... As you might've seen in my prior post about a 'new' Tolly Tot joining the Doll House, I found a great deal on a Tolly Tot on eBay recently... Tolly Tot's have always been a favorite of mine because my very first 'fit doll' when I started upcycling doll clothes at the very outset of my renewed interest in dolls was my Tolly Tot named Rose. So they have a special place in my heart. Naturally, then, they are on my search lists on eBay and that's how I found the recent one. Well, another practice of mine is, when I find a spectacular deal on eBay, to always look and see what else the seller has to offer on bids. Oftentimes they are consistent on pricing things very low... So, this time proved to be no different.

They also had this two doll lot of two Tolly's with an opening bid of only $4.99!! Not quite as cheap as that first one at $1.00 but still pretty amazing price of only $2.50 each if I got them for the starting bid price. Of course, as you know, I need more dolls like a new hole in my head but.. For that price, I couldnt' help but to just plunk down the starting bid price and perhaps hedge my bet for a couple dollars more and wait and see what happened.

And I won for the $4.99!! Shipping was only $10 so, only about $7.50 each shipped! NICE! So I plan to use these two Tolly's to makeover into new customized dolls. The original seller already worked on part of it for me by piercing the ears and giving a french manicure to one of them.

This is the first one... She is a bit damaged. Her hair was utterly ruined really, all tangles and like one big dread lock really. I suppose with lots of patience and work I might've been able to tame it with a hot water dunk but given that I've become somewhat obsessed with the beautiful wigs that are available, I knew I'd just remove her hair. She also has some water/liquid stains on her fabric torso... But I am betting it is likely where someone washed her hair and then let it sit on her shoulders because that is consistent with where the stains are. The reason I suspect this otherwise is that her hair smelled very strongly of shampoo or soap or something, like they didn't get it all out. No matter. I cut off all her hair and gave her a good once over with a Norwex Enviro cloth and other than one stain on one of her arms that I need to have a go at with a magic eraser (I need to get some more) she cleaned up very nice!

I found a wig that I thought would be perfect for her!

"Charred Copper" is the perfect name for this wig! It has copper red with highlights of black and is so pretty!!

Doesn't it look like she was made to wear this hair?

I just love her! I'll have to come back in the next post and tell you about the second doll because I am out of time!

Here she is alongside one of my other Tolly's who's hair, I thought, looked like a 'cousin' of the new hair of the new girl. I need to give her a name but so far nothing has come to me.... I am sure I'll come up with a name soon!
Better run!

Tolly Tot Doll Holly Loses A Leg!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

One of my favorite dolls had an accident! I am not really sure even what happened? I was walking by where she was hanging on the Doll Wall and Holly Doll's leg looked like it was 'wonky'? So I look closer and it's because her left leg has broken off! What?! No one ever touches or plays with my dolls except me and so I am perplexed what happened. I'd changed her recently and bent her legs but I didn't notice her leg breaking off...?

See? Totally broken off!

As best as I could tell, she was completely unfixable (is that a word?).

As I undressed her I realized that I'd forgotten or overlooked this little tear in the fabric of her body... Poor dear. I should've given her some stitches...!

She is a doll named after my real sister Holly and so I was really bummed out!
I have to have a Holly in the Doll House!

I guess I could've tried superglueing it but... I don't think I'd have been able to line up the little 'post' that broke correctly in order for it to work the way it should. So she'd have a 'fused' leg in all likelyhood if I went that route. Hmmm...

So as I was bumming out about it, I glanced over at my other Tolly Tot Dolls and saw the beautiful repainted Tolly Tot Doll that my sister friend Frann sent me a while ago... (Which I am aghast to say I couldn't find a post about..?! I hope I made one!? If not, thanks for the beautiful doll Frann!) I hadn't ever settled on a name for her because nothing had ever 'fit'. Suddenly I knew exactly what I'd do! I'd make the Tolly Tot Frann sent into Holly Doll! She has bangs and that is actually more accurate to my real sister, as she's always had bangs.

Here they are side by side with the 'new' Holly dressed in a Nascar jersey and jeans, which real Holly would like I think...

Tolly Tot's are such beautiful dolls. I love them.

I've decided I am going to keep the broken Tolly, at least for now. Svetlana has an artificial leg and I am thinking I might take the leg that broke off and turn it into a 'prosthetic' leg... Hmmm.... I could maybe attach some elastic to it in some way so it can be held on? Any ideas? I'm pondering.. Maybe I could paint it a different color because sometimes I see kids with prosthetics in 'fun' colors? Obviously I couldn't keep her as 'Holly' Doll but I just can't stand the thought of her ending up in a bin somewhere. She's so pretty! So she has a handicap, it sure doesn't stop Stevie or Svetlana from enjoying the Doll Life. Eh?

Tolly Tots Doll At Thrift Store, Wish Me Luck, I'm Going Back For Her!

Hi Doll Friends!

Yesterday evening I saw this Tolly Tots Doll at the Thrift Store.
I decided to leave her there.
What. Was. I. Thinking.
I am having one of my thrift store regret's moments.
Rats
I do so love Tolly Tot's! My very first 18inch Doll was a Tolly Tot named Rose that my daughter got at a garage sale and then gifted to me when I started upcycle sewing for 18inch dolls.
I do so love Tolly Tot Dolls.
Just a quick post here...
Cos I might go back to the thrift store and get her...
Wish me luck!

PS There are two reasons I'd decided against her... She, sadly, was attacked by a dog at some point...
Aaaand... Someone wrote on the back of her neck...
But...
That's not HER fault! Right?

Magic Attic Club Doll eBay Score!! Meet Megan!

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!

I've always wanted to get a Magic Attic Club Doll... I got thier catalog back in the 1990's and loved it just as much as the American Girl Doll catalogs I also got. Being a woman in my 20's at the time I never ordered anything from either one, thinking, at the time, I was 'too old' for dolls. What silly thinking was that? Anyway, they are more rare than American Girl Dolls obviously because they went out of business long ago. They are always rather expensive on the second hand market on eBay and I'd never taken the plunge to spend such a large amount of money on a second hand doll. However, I knew if I ever found one at the right price, I'd certainly bring one home to the Doll House.

Low and behold, this last week I did just that.
At least I think that's who she is? Maybe she's Alison? My sister friend and I have been trying to figure out which we think she is since I sent her a photo about the minute I won the auction on eBay. In any case, whichever one she is, I got her for a great price. I am sure the reason is that she was listed as a Tolly Tot's Doll not a Magic Attic Club Doll. I keep Tolly's in my search engine on eBay because, well, they are some of my favorite dolls. However, when I saw this little beauty listed, I knew she wasn't a Tolly but figured the rest of the Doll World would see the same and I'd never win the bid. I literally threw in a ridiculously low price and forgot all about it thinking I'd never win the bid. Until I did! I almost passed out! Well, maybe not but I was very shocked.
I got her for only $14.99 plus $10 shipping!
Unreal!!

When I got her home I figured out why the seller thought she was a Tolly Tot. She is wearing a Tolly Tot outfit and the tags were in it. A really cute outfit at that. I love her shoes!!!

She was in nearly perfect shape, as if she'd been owned by an adult collector.

Here is her outfit. I might just list the key knecklace on eBay because I don't really care if I own it and I bet they are rather rare... I need to start listing things on eBay here and there to weed out my massive hoard collection and recycle some Doll Mad Money. Someday...

I think this might even be her original rubber band in her hair?

Which brushed out so nice!! She's just lovely!! Here she is wearing the outfit that came on Hannah (at least that is what I think I am going to call her), my My Salon Doll. They are nearly identical in body type and it fits like it was made just for her.

Magic Attic Dolls were sculpted by the famous doll maker Robert Tonner and are very beautifully done. I am so glad to have one in my collection!

So glad I got her! I think I will keep her 'given' name since she's got story books and the whole works...

Better run!

Tolly Girl New-In-Box Outfit Ensemnbles Find On eBay!

Doll Friends!!

Oh. My. Goodness.

I am so excited to tell you about the most amazing thing I found on eBay recently! As you may know if you've read this blog a while, I really love Tolly Tot 18inch dolls. Rose was my first 'fit' doll when I made some of my very first upcycled doll clothes items!! Since I've gone on to become a collector of dolls, I've also become quite a collector of Doll Clothes. Teehee. What can I say? I love 'style' and especially since probably half of my dolls are doppelganger dolls of people I know and love or that I admire as a person. (I've honestly never counted how many doppelganger dolls I have or done'
percentages... I should, that would be fun... I digress...) So, more and more I want to dress them in clothing that reflects the 'real' person's way of dressing... So I need quite a wardrobe at my disposal to accomplish that given that I have way too many just enough cherised dolls taking over living in my house. Right?

As is my habit, I tend to shop  do serious doll research on eBay to see what is available... I have several saved searches and one of them is, naturally, Tolly Tot's. So, low and behold when I logged on the other day I had a notice that new Tolly items had been posted. When I saw one of the newest postings was for a Lot of New In Box Tolly Girl doll clothes ensembles with a Buy It Now option, I almost fell off my chair. Now, I don't normally leap at such things because such a find is usually crazy expensive. For some reason though, this lot made the outfits only about $8.00 each!! SUCH A STEAL!! So I plunked down some of my Doll Mad Money and started watching the mail...! I felt like a kid waiting for Christmas!

They arrived Friday and did NOT disappoint. I've found a new Tolly Tot Doll before and have quite a few of their clothes I've gleaned second hand and so I know they are top-notch in quality and just adorable in style. I honestly think they are on par with the current quality of American Girl Doll clothes. Really. They are that nice!! I am running low on time, as ever, and so mostly this will have to be a photo review or show and tell. Suffice to say these will be some of my very favorite doll clothes in all of the Doll House Wardrobe. And that is saying something! Teehee.

Here is the first of them in the box. Isn't it adorable?

I love love love love love all of them. Especially the shoes! I'll come back later after church and tell you about more of the details... I hope... Sometimes I forget to make it back when I saw that because I am on to the next thing!! So, in case I forget, and you have questions, please ask. I can't say enough about how cool they are though! Even all the little pockets are real fuctioning pockets and so many snaps and details! Awesomeness all around...!

Have a great day!
