Thrift Store Scores For Doll House And Possible Giveaway?

Greetings and Salutations Doll Friends!!

If you've been reading my blog a little while, you may recall my decision to fast thrift shoppes for Lent this year. If you've been reading it even longer, you'll know this was me trying to lay one of my favorite activities in all the world at the feet of Jesus. Hahaha. Not even kidding. It turned out to be a great break, forcing me to focus my attention on the many thrift store scores I had already made and perhaps tucked away in a closet or drawer to pull out for the 'perfect scene' only to be forgotten about really. Not to mention the whole purpose of Lent, I think, is to turn your mind to Jesus whenever you want to do whatever it is you gave up, if that makes sense. So every time I'd go into town and have that urge to go to a nearby thrift shoppe, I would turn it into a prayer. So it prompted me to pray more and that is always a good thing. So... Reason I bring it up again? Lent is over!!! So guess where I went yesterday about the moment they opened the door? That's right, my local thrift store!!

What did I see the moment I walked in? This adorable doll sized hutch that was only $7.00. It's a bit on the tall side but I think it's going to look so cute in the Doll House. I am making myself get rid of some other large bit of Doll Furniture to make room for it... I have another rustic wooden shelf that is very similar to this one that you can see in this post about the doll kitchen from last April. Time flies, eh? I think I like this one better because it has the cabinets that close on the bottom. So that's nice.

Speaking of the doll kitchen the only other thing I found were these cute magnets. They were only $1.00 a package and so naturally I cleaned them out of all they had. Hahaha. I wasn't sure they'd all the right 'size' for dolls but I thought some of them looked perfect... That celery alone made me want them. So cute!! The head of lettuce too! I was laughing at the scale of that carrot though... It's a monster!

Here they are two sets out of the package. I don't think they'll all lend themselves to the doll house but enough of them will that I think it was certainly worth the money.

Here is Gasper with some of them... Forgive me for the badly lit photo. I took it early this morning and didn't want to light the entire house up when the family is still asleep but wanted to show you how they looked with a doll for scale. I think they'll be pretty great for photos.

My thought in buying all four sets was that then I would have extra to give away.... I was thinking of giving them away in a drawing...? Would that be lame? Giving away something I found at a thrift store? Let me know what you think in the comments and maybe I'll do it if a few people say they think it's not silly or lame. Haha. I mean they are 'new' but also likely 40 years old. So I am not sure.

Eitherwise, I better run!
Time flies in the morning!
Happy Tuesday!

  1. Good to hear you finish this year's lent successfully. Congratulations!
I remember your lent last year was chocolate, right? Fasting something for a while makes us more interested in it.

  2. You enjoy thrifting and dolls. Both are close to your heart.I think that doing a give-a-way with something that is thrifted will be awesome. Especially since your heart was clearly in it when you bought it. Definitely not lame.
